2003 - coordinators and committees... keep us posted!
Information for reunions can be found online at the MSO website in
the respective class’s information section. GET
WELL SOON:
To Bernard Boteler, 94-year-old father of J.S. Boteler (Staff), who was
recently readmitted to the hospital and currently in the transitional care
unit. We hope he gets to go
home soon! ....
to Mike Sage (1981) who recently underwent heart surgery.... and is now
back to work! And
to Mrs. Pat Keller, mother of Bernie (1974), Brenda (1976), Don (1978),
and Doug (Wheaton 1988), who also had heart surgery earlier this month. CONDOLENCES:

Denice (1975), Greg (1977), Lynn, Lisa (1980), and Bruce (all Peary grads

HAGE (1976):
From Skip Fitzgerald (1976, thanks, Skip!)....
If you missed the article about Jim in the Sunday (11/24)
Washington Post Sports Section about Jim being the oldest to ever win the
JFK 50-mile ultra-marathon, e-mail us (blau@viawest.net)
and we’ll send the text to you! OUR
MILITARY:
Many of our alums, their offspring, relatives, and friends are serving our
nation overseas during the holidays.
Please take a moment to sign a “Thank You” card that will be
distributed to troops at the end of December..... http://www.defendamerica.mil/nmam.html Thank
you to Beth Leimbach Swanson (1966), who has a family member serving
overseas, for informing us of this web page devoted to the US troops that
are protecting our right to celebrate the various holidays.
Let them know that the country thanks them and supports them when
you have a moment! DID
YOU KNOW-FYI:
That all updated alumni e-mail contacts may be found at http://www.pearyhs.org/phslist.htm
(or simply click on “Alumni E-mails” from the menu), alumni personal
and business web pages can be linked from “Alumni Links,” and 6 years
of monthly newsletters are archived and accessible by clicking on
“Newsletters?” MSO:
We hope more of you select the “Donations” menu item, too, to keep
this project alive. We’ve
made it 6 years.... would like to be able to anticipate making it through
2003 with your voluntary support - chances are the Powerball winner, Jack
Whittaker (Hurricane, WV) , and the Mega Millions winner are not Peary
Alumni. Thank you for your consideration! We currently have 3,942 classmates aboard and had over 6,000
visitors in 2002. You can go
directly to the secure page: https://id267.securedata.net/pearyhs/donation.htm
for donation methods. ALUMNI
FYI
- Another “did-you-know”... that the “Cannon Clan” will continue
for generations?? Matthew
Cannon and wife, Fran, now have 13 children.... not to mention the
offspring of all other Peary Cannons.
My gosh.... ARTICLE/UPDATE/DECEMBER
NEWSLETTER DELAYS: There are many late-included
updates in this issue of the newsletter that should have been in the
November issue. Compounding
my 4-week absence from home (Las Vegas) back to the East coast in November
were some, apparently, technical problems (just discovered, else this
would have been distributed a few days ago) with some alumni sign-ups and
updates from mid to late-November - but they DID come through, thankfully,
and are included in this issue. During
the 4 weeks, I was able to only meet-up with two alums/friends (planned),
and two by-chance.... Mr. Boteler at the hospital, and Carol Fisher
Hambright (1976) in an elevator at a medical facility.
THANKS to those who e-mailed and snail-mailed get-well wishes for
my mom to me (and directly to my mom) recently, and for understanding if I
have not responded to you yet. For
those who know my mom, she will be continuing with chemo treatments for at
least 2.5 months. Unfortunately,
she could not attend local (Virginia) relatives’ holiday get-togethers
because her immune system is dangerously weak from the chemotherapy...
thus unable have in-person contact with anyone at all.
The GOOD news, which I hope is accurate, is that last cat scan
results showed that the spot on her lung is GONE (after only two sessions
of chemo??). I pray that this
is true and, again, I thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers these
past few months. Many
of you have written to say you’ll be out here in the desert in coming
months (not including those already here for the fireworks on New Year’s
Eve -- 65,000 explosions in 8 minutes, across a two-mile stretch, shot-off
from 8 hotel/resort rooftops - crazy - hey it’s Vegas and “America’s
Party”) -- we will hopefully see you guys in 2003.
Remind me - i.e give me a heads-up, please, 2-3 weeks before you
arrive (NOT “we arrive in Vegas tomorrow, let’s get together”) -
thanks! Have
a Merry Christmas (belated, but hey.... what’s one day late in
comparison with a lifetime of memories?!) and a Happy New Year! Bob
Lau, Editor/Webmaster P.S.
If you wish to reply or comment, please don’t quote this entire
newsletter back to us... create a new e-mail to blau@viawest.net.
If you have changes to your e-mail address of other contact
information, please use the links to the online forms at www.pearyhs.org
to ensure the info makes it to your respective graduating class for its
records.. ....
please try to remember to update us with e-mail address changes. Each month there are 80-100 bounces due to bad addresses or
“freebie” mail accounts that are over their quotas (if you have an
e-mail account without such limitations where your friends can contact
you, and so this distribution won’t bounce on us, please let us know).
I can guarantee that we will be spending 4-6 hours, the day after
this newsletter is distributed, following-up on invalid and over-quota
e-mail accounts. Select
“E-mail Update” from the Main Menu. | Back to the Newsletter Selections |
