From:
Jason Kim <jkim@leekim-law.com>
(1985/Wheaton) I
found out about the website through Google. Occupation:
Attorney. Spouse: Jenny, Children: Justin--7, Jeffrey--4, Jeremy--1 Memorable
Incidents: Losing in every Two-Man Debate competition entered—that’s
got to be a record of some sort. Since
High School: I graduated from U.C.L.A. with B.A. in Political Science in
1989. I then received my J.D. from U.C.L.A. School of Law and have been
practicing in the banking, commercial, and real estate matters in Los
Angeles, CA, since. I married in 1993 and have 3 boys. Future
Plans: Trip to Europe. Memorable
Teacher: Mr. Clarke. From:
james “bob” brown <brown_james@bah.com>
(1982) Married
to Jennifer, three children 8, 5, and 3. Living in Northern VA, working
with Booz Allen Hamilton and loving it. Hope
all is well with classes of 82 and 81. Sorry to miss the 20 year reunion. Cheers, From:
Jackie Libby Fields <jrfinmd2001@yahoo.com>
(1984) well
I just wanted to let anyone know that I finally made the move to Maine to
be with my mother and sister (cindy saunders (Libby) and her family). I am
attending nursing school and then will be hopefully working in the local
hospital here in Maine on the pediatric ward by the spring. I would love
to hear from anyone from my classes at Parkland that remembers me. From:
Lorelei Fusco Troup <lorelei_troup@juno.com>
(1973) I
found out about the website while surfing the web. Occupation:
self-employed, Spouse: Calvin, Children: Katrina 22, graduates from
University of North Carolina in May; Phillip 18 Memorable
Incidents: I was very fortunate to be involved in DECCA with Mr. Weinstein
and Mrs. Fotheringham. The rest is a blur as I was working so much and
couldn’t wait to be done with school and move on to real life. What was
I thinking! Most interesting was my daughter’s comment in her senior
year that OJT was where she learned the most about life in all of high
school. My son said the same about Thomas Edison High School of
Technology. All three were incredible experiences! Since
High School: Married since December of 1973, worked full time at Holy
Cross Hospital for 13 years, started my own business from home which
turned out to be a blessing as my second child has been seriously ill all
his life. We bought our second house less than a mile from Peary and in a
neighborhood of “Peary Parents”. It was nice to see Mills, Heneghans,
and Colemans, and of course, the Buckleys when they came home to their
parents homes! We moved to a wonderful area of Burtonsville 13 years ago
and much of my time has been spent “touring” the wonderful medical
facilities in the area---NIH, Hopkins, and every hospital around the
beltway......Mostly I feel like I have spent many years being stressed out
dealing with all that goes with having a child with a serious illness. I
could write a book on that alone! On a
lighter note---I was really pleased when my son decided in the 5th
grade that he wanted to learn to play bagpipes and ended up in the Pipe
Band with Peary alum. What a wonderful experience! He played through high
school until he became too sick to play. We attended many Scottish
Festivals and got to see Dr. Dunn at every one! Future
Plans: move SOUTH and spend my years on a southern beach, barefoot, in
cutoffs, sipping mint juleps, reading all the books I haven’t had time
to read. Memorable
Teachers: Mrs. Glass—the art projects were great, but she was a
wonderful, caring teacher. (We listened to Janis Joplin on the record
player every class!) I remember Donna Lawrence, and Tom Christina at my
table in Art. Mrs Fotheringham in DECCA---I learned more about LIFE in my
senior year from her than in all the rest of high school.
She truly prepared us for the outside world. Would
like to know who else is still in Montgomery County from Class of
1973.......... From:
Gale Boynton-Cox <galecox@hotmail.com>
(1975) How I
found out about the website? I bumped into Betty at the Dr. office. Occupation:
Health Technician/Character Education Representative, Children: Matthew T.
Cox Age 20, Daniel S. Cox Age 17 Memorable
Incidents: 1.”Long Days Journey into Night” 2. The death of my
favorite counselor, Mr. Campitell. 3.”The Rowdies” Since
High School: I have taught and trained in the area of Child Care for 20
yrs. For the last 5 yrs. I have worked with School Health Services as a
Health Technician. Part-time I am the Character Education Representative
for the Elementary school where I am currently assigned.
I also pet-sit for a private business. Future
Plans: I am currently pursuing further education in nursing and computer
technology. Memorable
Teachers: Mr. Hill—even though I slept in class, he passed me. Mr.
Clarke—he gave me a hard time (in a fun way) because he had my brother
the prior year. Mr. DeCamp—I remember when he adopted a child.
Mary Thomson—she really related to kids. Mr Campitell—A
counselor who really helped me through some hard times and gave me
direction. From:
Jeannie Keener Colliton <EJColliton@netscape.net>
(1977) How I
found out about the website? Pearyite sent me the address. Occupation:
Administration, Children: James Brian Colliton 17 Memorable
Incidents: Parties at Tommy Dubeys house, the black path and graduation.
The 64 green New Yorker I used to drive all of the people I knew to
parties. Since
High School: I married Brian Colliton after graduation. We had a wonderful
son Jimmy! we divorced in 1990, still friends. My kidney disease
progressed and I had two kidney transplants, in 1987 and in 1999. My two
sisters, Betty Ann Treworgy Keener and Nancy Keener donated. I have had a
long career with the FDA. I worked in Management and Administration. I am
doing great with the second kidney and hope to keep this one for a long
time! Future
Plans: Can’t wait to become a grandmother! Hope to stay with the FDA and
retire at the grand old age of 50. From:
William R. Burke Jr. (Bob) <bobburke1958@aol.com>
(1976) How I
found out about the website? My wife and I were out to dinner one night,
and we parked behind a car with a Pearygear tag bracket. I decided to
check it out. Occupation:
Sheetmetal/Pipefitter Tech., Spouse: Catherine Ann, Children: Larry P.
Verner II (22), Jason F. Burke (21), Joseph L. Burke (19). Grandchildren:
None yet all our sons are single. Memorable
Incidents: I guess it may be the constant calls from Mable Thomas to my
parents about how much I was skipping school. At that point my mom was
dropping me off in front of the school on her way to the office. The phone
calls continued on, that’s when it was discovered it was John Burke that
didn’t like coming on a regular basis to classes. One
of the best days I had was when I was called to the office and Mable
actually apologized to me and my parents for the mistake. Since
High School: I attended a trade school, worked several different types of
jobs, finally settled in at Amtrak in late 1979 and I’m still there.
I’m on my second marriage to a wonderful woman who has been with me
since 1991. We have built a great life together, and I thank God for all
my blessings. Our oldest son Paul is active Army in Germany until August
of 2003. Jason and Joey are both in the construction industry, Jason is
working towards getting his contractors license in Maryland.
Cathy and I purchased our dream house in the country in 1999, and
we continue to enjoy it. We are very active in our church and community. Future
Plans: We are looking forward to being Grandparents (when the time is
rite). Taking some long trips on our Harley and seeing this great country
from the seat of our bike. Memorable
Teacher: Coach Cino - just plain liked the guy. From:
William R. Waggoner <daphwill@bellatlantic.net>
(1981) Roger
Kimmel (Class of 1971) died yesterday, October 30th, after a
long battle with serious health issues. Roger Kimmel’s funeral service
will be this evening at 7:00pm in Winston Salem, North Carolina. The
church is called: North Point Baptist Church The internment ceremony will
be on November 1, 2002 at 11:00am. The family has requested that no floral
arrangements be sent, and in lieu of flowers to send a donation to The
First Baptist Church of Rockville (55 Adclare Road in Rockville, MD
20850), as that was the place that Roger felt was his family on earth. Roger
and I first met in 1994, found out we both went to Peary, and became good
friends. Even though he had many health issues, he was one of the nicest,
kind-hearted individuals I know. I will surely miss him. From:

the ranks. I am now the Regional Property Manager for an outstanding local
company who treat their employees like real people! I am married to a

Friends, After
a long and valiant struggle, John finally gave in to the cancer and died
early Saturday morning. A few weeks ago, he had set a goal to make it into
November, and being young and tough, he did. He is now at peace. I
will forward more information regarding the fundraiser such as times and
who the checks should be made out to. Dave Sowers is heading that up
(along with everything else he’s done) and I need more information from
him. Take

(1979) Hi! It
has been a few years since I have let anyone know what we have been doing.
Alex and I have been married twenty years and have four children: Paula
(14), Laura (12), Joe (9), and Carl (11 months). Great news! We are
expecting another child in May 2003! The
Air Force just transferred us from Texas to California. We have returned
to Edwards AFB in the Mojave Desert and we are trying to figure out how to
fit into a house that is 1200 sq. ft SMALLER than our last house. Alex is
a test pilot and is working as the squadron ops officer.
Just three more years here then Alex can retire from the Air Force! In
May 2002, we took all the children and spent three days in Vienna and
eight days in Hungary. My mother met us in Budapest and showed us around
the historical family sites. We found Budapest to be more interesting
architecturally and culturally than Vienna. It was surprising that babies
are so rare in Vienna and Hungary. Everywhere we went, people stopped us
in public to see our baby - even teenage boys!
We didn’t see another baby until our last day in Hungary.
Abortion is a big scourge there and the population is in steep decline as
it is in all of Western Europe. I am
home schooling my children using a Catholic curriculum (Seton) and we are
learning so much! Our
bad news: Alex’s father, Bill, was rushed to the Emergency Room on Aug
26 and nine weeks later (Oct 29), he died from brain cancer. He was always
so healthy, strong, vibrant, and always serving others. It is a shock to
us. I had fully expected him to recover and live at least another twenty
years. His mother lived to the age of 100. If
anyone can get in touch with MICHAEL THORPE, I would like to hear from
him. We
haven’t been to Maryland in the last two years. We hope to attend a
family reunion there in July 2003. From:

Incidents: Working on the Midnight Sun, Having my (so called) friend steal
my date at a Rolling Stones concert! Grrr! Drinking warm, bad, beer from
cans in the woods behind the school. Feeling shy, acting extroverted. The
student walkout to the board of education. Playing geeky war games with my
geeky war game friends. <The things geeks had to do before computers!
:) > Spending all my money for tickets to rock concerts, and loving it.
Running back to the Midnight Sun offices to get a photographer (Rick
Eskite?) when the plane landed on the field.
Fast-talking to avoid getting mauled in the locker room by angry
boyfriends over my Midnight Sun column against pep-rallies that said the
cheerleaders were being used as “sex objects.” Flirting with a cute
“girl” on the ski bus, only to find out she was my Chemistry teacher
