Park, Tex., home of his stepson, whom he was visiting. Mr.
Jaques was born in Houston and raised in the Washington area. He had lived

University of Maryland. In
the 1960s and 1970s, he taught physical education at Herbert Hoover Junior
High School in Potomac, Baker Middle School in Damascus and Springbrook
High School in Silver Spring. While
at Springbrook, he was coach of track teams that won the Maryland state
championship in 1972 and 1977. He was named Montgomery County schools’
track coach of the year in 1977. He
was physical education department chairman at Robert E. Peary High School
in Rockville from 1980 to 1984 and served in that same position at Col.
Zadok Magruder High School in Rockville from 1984 to 1998. Over

attention.] GET
WELL SOON:
To COACH DUANE BLACK (Las Vegas) - pappagra@aol.com
- who recently underwent back surgery and will be recuperating for a
couple of weeks. Mrs. Black
reports that the Coach is back to normal, i.e. he is “back to
grouchy!” And
as many of you already know, DENNIS SPONHOLTZ (1966) suffered a stroke
last month. The
Sponholtzes’ e-mail address is below.
If you would like Dennis’s mailing address, please write to Gale
Senseman Privette at gale7@juno.com. Here is an update on Dennis from his wife, Marcie: “I
have received several cards and phone calls from Dennis’s classmates
which I very much appreciate. Dennis
had a massive stroke on August 28. He is currently at National
Rehabilitation Hospital in Washington, D.C. and is scheduled to return
home on October 8. At present he cannot move the right side of his body. The
part of his brain that was affected also controls speech and language so
his ability to communicate is very limited at this time. He will require
lots of physical and speech therapy and his rehab team is optimistic that
with time he will be able to be somewhat independent again. I thank all of
you for your thoughts and prayers and encourage you to stay in touch. The
cards that you have sent are hanging on the wall next to his bed and I
have read every word of encouragement they contain to him. He understands
spoken language and so I know that he appreciates hearing from all of
you.” Sponholtz E-mail: mbdspon@aol.com TERRY
LAU:
My mom, who resides in Rockville and who many of you know, is home now
from Montgomery General Hospital after being there for 13 days (in ICU for
the first 7 of those days for monitoring of her heart and a ton of tests).
Thankfully her heart is fine (she had a heart attack 8 years ago),
but she was treated for other relatively minor ailments, including the
removal of her gall bladder while she was there.
She is doing well. Thank you to those who knew about this and e-mailed and
called us to express your concern. With
the doctors’ (4 or 5 of them involved) “okays,” she’ll hopefully
be able to proceed with her previously-scheduled plans and will be
visiting here in Las Vegas next week with other relatives and about 250 of
their friends for a reunion (of sorts).
I have not seen her in over 1.5 years. MSO
