(1983) My
husband Mike and I are very proud to announce the birth of our third child
John Michael. He was born
March 4, 2002 weighing in at 8lbs. 5oz.
(My smallest). Big
brother Kevin 3 ˝ and big sister Shannon 2 are very excited and love him
to death. Fortunately, we are
sleeping through the night, but needless to say three kids under the age
of 4 keeps us very busy. We’re
still living in the Atlanta area and enjoying it except for the steamy
summers and the crazy drivers and traffic.
Hope to make a trip home soon to see all my good friends and
family. Looking forward to the reunion next year.
Hopefully, I’ll make it home before that! From:
Donna Miller Steinfort <d.steinfort@att.net>
(1968) Just
wanted to send a note to let all the Peary graduates know that my husband,
Gary Steinfort, has retired from the U.S. Coast Guard after a very
successful 29-year career. His
last duty station was ISC Ketchikan, Alaska, where he was the Captain in
charge of all support for units from Ketchikan to Anchorage. We
have retired to the Eagle River area of Alaska.
I retired from the IRS about 5 years ago, and am enjoying
volunteering and playing in Alaska. Gary was honored at his retirement
with the Legion of Merit, the highest peacetime award that can be given by
the military. He is currently
the Head Volleyball Coach at Wasilla High School, and will be working for
the Dept of the Army doing Information Management work.
Life is good! Take
care. From:

(1975) Hi
Peary Alum. It has been a
long time since I have submitted anything to the website, as life was
status quo. However, I have
experienced some life changes and thought an update would be appropriate. This past year I completed my Master’s of Ed. from Eastern
Mennonite University (Lancaster Campus).
Who would have thought that after all these years I would have been
back in school? I have also
resigned as a teacher from public education and have accepted the position
of MS/HS Principal at Lancaster Christian School.
So for the first time since Kindergarten, I no longer participate
in “summer vacation.” Although
I have not ‘aged’, my children have and my daughter will be a
sophomore secondary English education major at Houghton College in NY.
My son, much to his dismay, will be a senior in a high school where
his mom is principal. Although
we just moved, we are still in the Lancaster, PA area so if any of you
ever come this direction, gives us a call. From:

have a little land and over the years have raised goats, sheep, chickens

(1979) Hello
everyone. I hope everyone is
having a great summer and soon, School will be starting.
My mother in-law, Irma, passed away on August 6th after
a long battle with cancer. She
was 73, but since September 1958, when she was 29, she had been in a
wheelchair due to contracting polio while on vacation after having her 2nd
child (my brother in-law). Spending
the last 24 hours with this remarkable woman was amazing.
She wanted to die on her own terms—after seeing her husband, 2
sons, 2 daughters in-law, 2 grandchildren, sister, nieces and nephews, she
died the way she lived—with grace, dignity and a lot of love. My nephew flew home from Florida at 5:30 p.m. to see his
grandmother and arrived at her home at 7:45 p.m. She died at 9:30 p.m. knowing she had been with everyone on
her last day on Earth. I have
wonderful memories of my mother in-law and I am a better person for having
her in my life. I hope that
everyone has that kind of connection with someone in their life because as
I have seen up close, life is very short and we may not have the time to
be with everyone. I am very
blessed to have a wonderful sister, brother, sister in-law and two nephews
as well as my parents in Maryland who have been extremely loving and
caring during this difficult time for Gary and I and we will be forever
grateful. From:

(1981) Hello
all! First, I want to thank those of you who donated to helping me make my
short film, “Purple Rose.” After
four years of three attempts to make this film, it’s finally completed!!
A piece of work I’m very proud of. You can check out the production and
pictures at the web site at www.purplerose.8m.com
or my site at www.allieraye.com.
There will be a screening in the Los Angeles area sometime the
beginning of September. If
anyone in this area wants to go, please email me. Due to limited seating,
it will be a guest list only. Then,
sometime in the beginning of November or the middle, there will be a
screening in the Rockville area. Not sure exactly where as we are still
trying to find a venue that will show a short film. If anyone is interested in attending, please email me your
address and number and I’ll make sure to put you on the invitation list.
This is going to be a fun time!! Again,
thanks so much to you all; especially a lot of my own classmates, for
supporting me and helping me finally bring one of my dreams to the screen. There’s no way this would have happened without people
believing in me. I am really
grateful. Next
week, it’s being submitted to Sundance Film Festival and I won’t know
if it gets accepted till right before Thanksgiving! So, keep something
crossed and I’ll keep everyone updated. Allie

(1975) Hi
Gang, Well,
after 22 years in the Navy (Gene Hughes, I think you lost the bet with
your dad), I’m about to retire and start a second career...
hopefully in medicine. I
had my interview at Eastern Virginia Medical School (their Masters of
Physician Assistant program) this past Friday, the 23rd of
August, and I think it went well. I’m
optimistic regarding my acceptance. I’ll
get the official acceptance (or rejection...) by the first week in
October. I’ll let you know
the results. I was
fortunate enough to be able to take my kids to Hawaii on a vacation this
summer. Fun time had by all.
It was really the last time I’d be able to do something like that
for them until they’re out of high school (and I’m out of PA school),
so it was “price be damned”...let’s go for it.
It was just the two of them and me (still single after a 97’
separation and subsequent “Big D”) so it was rather busy for me, being
coordinator, tour guide and playmate and not much of a vacation for me,
but a fabulous time with my kids (14 and 16 y/o). Adult company would have been great, especially in a location
like that! Lots
going on for me in the next month or so.
Retirement ceremony, job search (pending acceptance to EVMS),
getting ready for school again (I’m thinking positively here), yada,
yada, yada. Other than that,
life is good! I still have
all my hair, all my teeth and my weight is within 5 lbs of “Peary-weight”.
Not too bad for us “75-ers” getting ready to join AARP, eh? Well,
I hope you all are doing well. Feel
free to drop me a line if you get the chance and inclination...even if we
weren’t particularly close at PHS.
It’s very interesting to me how the social strata that seemed to
exist in HS has disappeared...or perhaps, never really existed at all. Enjoy
the rest of your summer! Aloha,
Tim ***********
