All class members.... be sure your contact information is
up-to-date by using the “Sign-Up/Update” link on the MSO Main Menu so
that your respective class coordinators and reunion/class events
coordinators know how to get a hold of you via snail mail, or you’re not
going to receive any mailed notices/invitations! CONGRATULATIONS:
Brad Oscar (1982) has taken over the lead role in Broadway’s “The
Producers” for Nathan Lane. Go
see the show if you’re in NYC! Links
to this great news are posted on the main page of the Peary/MSO website. PEARY
ALUMS SERVING OUR COUNTRY: What are
the chances of 3 Peary classmates assigned to the same training mission
aboard the same ship, and meeting-up with each other on the Baltic Sea?? Well, it happened. See
Chris Perlick’s (1975) story in this newsletter issue, and view the
photo of these alums (Chris, Tim Gedney 1975, and Dave Prothero 1974)
aboard the U.S.S. Mount Whitney on the MSO website!
Photo provided by Tim Gedney. THANK
YOU:
To Jim Hardman (1976) who indexes the entire Peary/MSO website each month
to make it easier for all of you to find information on www.pearyhs.org. The actual index/search engine for the Peary website is
configured and processed on Jim’s own web server, and for this labor of
love and his technical expertise, MSO is extremely grateful. CLASS
OF 1970 WEBSITE:
www.peary70.org - The Class of 1970
website, www.peary70.org, is
inactive as of March 18, 2002, and will disappear July 2002 when the
hosting contract expires. If
there is anyone from the Class of 1970 who’d like to take over the
maintenance of the 1970 website, with good organizational skills and
proficiency with html and Frontpage, and the desire to keep everything
updated (a must!), please contact Bob Lau at MSO, blau@viawest.net
right away. If there are no
volunteers by July, the existing site “may” be edited and simply
become a part of MSO. Thanks
to Steve Banks who designed and created the pages at peary70.org and for
keeping it up-to-date all these years! YOUR
SUPPORT IS NEEDED:
Thank you to Mr. Burlas for allowing the turnover of remaining funds from
the MSO “Benefactor” account to the MSO recently.
The plan has been discontinued, unfortunately, as Coach Burlas,
with his generous investment to get the ball rolling, was the only staff
or student alum to invest in this plan in a ten-month period. MSO
would like to thank those individuals who recently sent their financial
support of this almost-6-year-old project.
The handful of donations will be of tremendous help to keep this
project alive. However, there
are still 3,300 Peary classmates/alums listed with MSO that we have not
heard from - ever. As
Ron Bostwick (1977) recently put it, MSO is very similar to your local
Public Broadcasting stations. MSO
is on your “dial” (browser) and you derive all of its benefits of
reunion information and reconnecting with old, long-lost friends and
teachers/staff; but most, apparently, don’t realize it takes your
dollars to keep it alive. The
Midnight Sun Online is a user-supported project.
The same 12% of listed classmates continue to support on a regular
basis. We
hope to hear from the other 88% soon.
Your consideration of financial support for MSO at this time is
greatly appreciated. All
information regarding financial support for the MSO, and a complete
listing of those of who are supporting the project is available online at www.pearyhs.org
- click on any “Donations” link... you can’t miss it. Visa/Mastercard donations are also accepted online for your
convenience.... save a check, save an envelope/stamp, save the delay....
today! Bob
Lau, Editor/Webmaster P.S.
