Sherrie Eaton Bounds <bsherrie@juno.com>
(1979) I
found out about the website from Robin Wingo...found her and others on
Classmates.com. Occupation:
Project Coordinator, Spouse: Roger, Children: Nicholas, age 6.
Grandchildren: not yet, please!! Since
High School: Working my butt off! I
moved to Stafford 10 years ago. We live in the sticks! But I love it.
It’s a great place to raise a family. Future
Plans: Trying to raise my son as well as my parents raised me.
I didn’t know at the time what a good job they were doing.
It’s really hard being a parent...no one could have told me it
would be such a challenge! And of course, spend the rest of my life enjoying it! Memorable
Teachers: Mrs. Brewer...she was such an awesome art teacher!
and Mrs. Hale, English...she taught me this saying I have never
forgotten...”cakes are done, people are finished”! I tell my son that
every time he says “I’m done”! From:
Robin Rosenberg Aiscowitz <RLRA4803@aol.com>
(1979) Greetings
everyone. Well, the Rosenberg
family has increased by one with the arrival of Aidan Gehrig Rosenberg on
March 20, 2002. He is the son
of Jeffrey Rosenberg (who attended Rockville HS, Class of 1986) and his
wife, Roma. He has a big brother, Matteo, who is 9. He is the proud nephew of Robin Rosenberg Aiscowitz (1979)
and Jody Rosenberg (1981). He
is just a gorgeous baby and we feel very blessed to have him in our lives.
I posted Aidan’s picture in the Husky Pup Club.
As it is customary with Jewish tradition, Aidan is named in loving
memory of his paternal great-grandfather, Abraham Rosenberg.
As you can tell from his middle name, the family enjoys baseball
(Go Yankees), although Jeffrey is an Orioles fan, our father is the
die-hard Yankee fan and Lou Gehrig is his hero, hence the middle name. From:
Allen Dunn Clift <Allenc9623@aol.com>
(1973) How I
found out about the website? Found it by accident - looking for old
friends. Occupation:
Deputy Director of Installations, Military Department; Spouse: Mary,
Children: Amanda Lynne 19, Michael Allen 16 Memorable Incidents: Smoking
by the tree outside the lunch room, participating in the variety show for
a couple of years Since High School: I retired as a Captain from the Army
after 20 years (Who’d have thunk it?)
During my time as an Enlisted Man, I repaired radios and navigation
equipment in an aviation outfit, Went to OCS, Commanded a Signal Company,
Became the Signal Battalion Intel Officer, then Training Officer, then
retired. Now I’m
responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of the 450
buildings, 4 training sites and 2 airfields that belong to the Maryland
National Guard Future
Plans: I’m going to retire some day and go fishing - may never come back Memorable
Teacher: Mr. Travers - A teacher that tried to make learning fun, while at
the same time, took deep interest in the lives and well being of his
students From:
Michele Merrigan Green <green.michele@worldnet.att.net>
(1983) My
husband and I just moved into a new home in Gambrills Maryland two weeks
ago and we also have a new addition to our family, Conor Michael, who is
two and a half weeks old. Moving was a nightmare, I don’t recommend
having a baby and moving in the same week. Things have calmed down some
and I’m enjoying my new house and my new son. From:
Beth Leimbach Swanson <hbwws@aol.com>

Tom Way <way@agora-net.com>
(1980) Happy
news... After
working for 10 years in Hollywood as, among other things, a joke writer, I
have just completed penning my penultimate joke... a dissertation.
I’m certain that my subconscious conceived of this joke: comedy
writer leaves LA, curses and sweats for 8 years, earns his Ph.D.
in Computer Science, ba-rum-bump pshhh!
And so, after an 8-year set-up, I have reached the punch line and
actually finished my Ph.D.! My
defense is done. My three
official copies on 20% cotton bond (with watermark) are signed and turned
in. And I have begun catching
up on sleep. Although
my topic was “Procedure Restructuring for Ambitious Optimization”, the
most significant research result was actually a side effect of the
process. I have calculated
that I am roughly 6,000 hours short on sleep over the past 8 years, and
have consumed approximately 6,000 cups of coffee in that same time.
Conclusion: 1 cup of coffee equals 1 hours of sleep.
Future work: We plan to avoid a follow-up study to confirm these results. More
importantly... in the past 8 years I have accumulated 3 children (with
most of the work being done by my wife Laura).
Emma is 8, Mellie is 3.5 and Ned is 1.017.
For the past 4 years I have also worked full-time as a software
engineer, and continue to do the occasional magic show for a roomful of
screaming 7-year-old grabbie-yankie-gimme cub scouts.
But, I digress. What’s
next? First, a nap. Then, possibly teaching (I interviewed for a job at
Villanova). If that doesn’t
work out, I may run for President. If
there’s one thing that good ol’ Dubbya has reminded us of, it is this:
Anybody can be President! Or
maybe it’s: Shit floats. So,
in closing, I think it goes without saying. From:
Linda Prusinowski Trotta <MTrotta@aol.com>
(1985/Wheaton) I
found out about the website from a fellow classmate.
Occupation:
Homemaker, Spouse: Matthew, Children: One beautiful, mule headed little
girl, Taylor who will be 4 June 2002.
Grandchildren: Granchildren through Matt’s previous “life” -
Dutin 20(?), Todd 19(?), Katy 14, Dylan 11, Sydney 7, Celeste 5, Reece 3 Memorable
Incidents: Man, I was boring! Can’t
think of anything other than having to split our class up for the senior
year. Since
High School: I worked for a major printing company called Holiday-Tyler
for close to 10 years where I advanced to Junior Accountant.
I then worked for a furniture distributor and Jr. Acct.
for several years before getting married to Matt in 1995.
At that time I “retired” from working to plan our wedding and
began to try for our daughter. Future
Plans: Live, Love and be happy! Memorable
Teacher: Mr. Clark, he made class fun and always had a smile. There
are more...and I will have to update later. From:
Robin Rosenberg Aiscowitz <RLRA4803@aol.com>
(1979) My
parents who still live in the same house in Rockville (August will be 37
years!!) are still in touch
with Jean Salzano Scafidi, who happened to have babysat for my brother
Jeffrey (a recent dad). Jeannie
and her husband Tom live in Brookeville with their 2 kids.
Unfortunately, Jeannie has MS, but she is doing OK (according to my
mother). She also stays in
touch with Patty Brown who lives in Erie, PA with her son Patrick. From:
Sidney Wharton <sidw46@bellsouth.net>
(1964) I
found out about the website through a Web Search.
Occupation:
Retired Since High School: Special Education Teacher in the field of blind
and visually impaired; retired in 1997 and moved to Key West in 1999. Future
Plans: Enjoy Paradise Memorable
Teacher: Mr. Thomas, for mentoring so many students. From:
Sandra Guardado <milpa@earthlink.net>
(1983) I
found out about the website a long time ago from Diane Herz. Occupation:
Filmmaker, Spouse: Matthew Nelson, Children: Dante 11 months Memorable
Incidents: Not so much incidents, as people.
Diana Sugg (most especially), Diane Herz, Crystal Walker, Beth
Shaplin, and all the running buddies from the various classes we took
together. Dr. Fleeger, Mrs.
Rosen, Mr. Clarke, on and on. Since
High School: I graduated from Penn State U. with a very general arts
degree, i.e. I had no idea what I wanted to do after 4 years of college. I did some public policy work in women’s reproductive
issues for about 2 years. I
then decided that I want to go to film school, so I applied to the
University of Texas at Austin’s film school.
I got in (!), although I must say if I tried to apply today, I
wouldn’t even be considered because the applicants are so experienced
these days. Once I graduated,
I began working on documentaries. The
last project I worked on, as coordinating producer/assistant editor, was a
3-hour biography on Governor George Wallace for the PBS series The
American Experience. It won a
Jury Prize in Writing at the Sundance Film Festival and recently won an
Emmy for Excellence in Research. For
now, the Emmy serves as a door stop at my house.
I’m currently the editor for another documentary on the Texas
prison system. Hopefully,
next year, I’ll be working as co-producer on another documentary, which
will explore the impact of migration on a small Mexican town and an
American city. I love living
in Austin. It’s a great
town, not too big and not too small, although it is changing with the rise
and fall of the high tech boom. There’s
great music, great food and great people here.
The only drawback is the interminable heat from May through
October. I consider moving
back east, but then all I have to do is think about the winters and the
Beltway. However, I go back
and visit often because my family is still in Maryland. Future
Plans: Live happily ever after in Texas with my husband and son, renovate
our house, keep perfecting my film editing skills, make that one great
documentary, and perhaps be lucky enough to have one more child. Memorable
Teachers: Dr. Fleeger - for teaching me to love literature. Mrs.
Rosen - for teaching me good grammar.
Mr. Clarke - for existing. From:
Daniel Maloy <pastord@one.net>
(1983) I
found out about the website from my brother.
Occupation:
Youth Attendant/Youth Pastor, Spouse: Kimberly, Children: Zachary Maloy
(12), Monica Maloy (9), Jessica Delaney (7), Gabriel Maloy (7), Dalton
Delaney (5) Since
High School: I attended Virginia Tech for 3 years before going to Europe
to try to race 10 speed bicycles. Upon
returning, I moved to Albuquerque, NM and became an Albuquerque police
officer in March of 1988. In
1995 I became a Violent Crimes detective in the Armed Robbery Unit.
I left the police department in July of 1996 and moved to Rising
Sun, IN and went to work in security for the Grand Victoria Casino &
Resort for 4 years. In April
of 1997, I was ordained as a minister of the gospel.
On June 5th, 1999 I married my wife Kim and in March of
2000 I became the pastor of Cross Plains Baptist Church.
I am currently a youth attendant at the Dearborn County Juvenile
Center as well as the President of the Southeast Indiana Youth Coalition.
We just held a large youth crusade, YouthJam 2002, in the area and
saw hundreds of lives. Future
Plans: I plan to continue to reach the youth of this area to help them
find and reach their God given destiny for their lives.
We are planning YouthJam 2003 as well as many other youth
outreaches and hopefully a teen hotline among other things.
I am also planning to finish a couple of books that I have been
trying to write and do some traveling with my family. Memorable
Teacher: I remember Mr. Hill. I
think I will remember him best because his math class was so challenging,
but he also took the time to help me out when I was struggling so badly in
his class. I will always
remember the intensity that he had when he taught. From:
Stuart A. Maloy <smaloy1@netzero.net>
(1985/Rockville) I
found out about the website through a search.
Occupation:

years Memorable
Incidents: Having awesome parties!!! Since
High School: attended college at CWRU. obtained BS, MS and PhD in
materials science, staff member at Los Alamos National Laboratory.
Cycling in spare time. Future
Plans: Enjoy life with my family Memorable
Teachers: Mr. Clarke (fun class, very organized), Mr. Black (excellent
wrestling coach) From:
Dena Besoner Saunders <DSaunders@hrsa.gov> Class
of 72: Plans are underway for our 30th.
I would like to throw this idea out to you and get some feedback. I
thought doing a luau would be fun to do. I’m looking into local location
and Hawaiian dancers to perform for us and then have them teach us the
hula. I would love to see all the jocks up there doing this. I don’t
know the costs yet. If all goes well we could do this mid August on a
Saturday night. Other ideas are: The
Outta the Way Cafe in Rockville area; Legends in Frederick for dancing.
So let me know as soon as possible what you think of these ideas or
if you have any ideas that you would like to do. So far I have 3 others
who are offering help with this, ANYONE who wants to help me with this, I
welcome the help. You can email me at my office or call me if you like. Also, if you know of any classmates who are missing, please
contact them and let them know that plans are underway. Lets show the
other classes that we know how to party down. Peace
and love From:

(1976) Silly
little news, but that which I am proud of, and for those classmates who
know him.... my father, Grant Lau of Sacramento, CA, was presented with a
flag flown over the Capitol (March 2, 2002) by Congressman Robert Matsui
(D - 5th District CA) last month in honor of his 70th
birthday (December 2001) and for his service with the Federal Government. He
served with the U.S. Army in Korea then entered Civil Service, working in
DC with several agencies. He
worked for the IRS as a Special Agent, then as an Inspector before
transferring to the Department of Defense where he worked in the Pentagon
for the Navy in Internal Security. He
also served with the Department of Commerce and NOAA.
He finished-up his career with Health and Human Services, from
where he retired at the end of 1989 after thirty years of service. My
dad was extremely upset over the tragedy inflicted upon our nation by the
events of September llth. The
World Trade Center Towers were right in the section of New York City where
he grew up and the Pentagon was where he worked—places where he spent
part of his life. From:
Karen Lucinski O’Neill <Karen_R._O’Neill@hud.gov> (1970) I

(1976) ALL, I
hereby formally resign my position as President of the Robert E.
Peary High School Alumni Association.
The Association still exists, albeit somewhat static at this point
in time. This
decision is based on the numerous changes that have taken place in my
life, and the energies that they have demanded of me.
My work has brought new responsibilities for me and a higher level
of responsibility to the bottom line of our organizations success.
I will be traveling from time to time to train new customers on our
new technology of digital communications. In my
extra curricular activates in life, soccer has produced more opportunity
for me to be involved with goalkeeping clinics for Montgomery Soccer, here
in Maryland. I am working 3
hours each evening on Mondays and Wednesdays doing these clinics.
I am also still assisting my brother with our WAGS Division 3 U-14
Girls team. Lastly,
The stresses of taking care of an elderly mother with Alzheimer’s
continues to grow. Many of
you have been there before me so you may know what I speak of.
I am only dealing with the stage 2 level at this time, but the
stress upon my father bears watching.
I am his relief plug at this time. I
need to take a different role in life, so I am turning over the
association to those still in charge and hope that somebody new can step
up to the plate to lead the association on.
Terry Brooks will be in charge for the interim, while I become the
“Past President.” In the meantime, I will give what time I can to
assist in projects, but cannot devote any time beyond that. The
Association was developed on the encouragement of our Principal, Dr. Dunn. At two
different times he told me personally that we needed to form an
association. After all, the
“MSO” was a great means for all of us to communicate with, but it
didn’t have the power to raise monies for us, and help us out beyond the
bond of communication. With all of this in mind, I moved forward with this concept,
with the help of some very great friends, Bob Lau, included.
The concept became a reality in 1997.
After more push to get it spooled up, it really blossomed with the
Peary Homecoming 2000 event. There
are so many other ideas I would have loved to see started with this
association, but I can’t do it all with the help of only a few, but very
valuable friendships with some dedicated alumni. We
struggled to make it work and proved ourselves to the masses and to the
neighborhood. Now it’s time
for me to move on. I pass
this on in the hopes that somebody else will see the association for what
it can do for all of us. It’s
your association. And yes,
for those of you who were never sure, the association did give money in
support of the MSO. I
will continue to work on the Happy Hour/Entertainment schedule that is
posted on the MSO. Respectfully
yours, Past
President of the Robert E. Peary High School Alumni Association ***********
