From:
Denise Collier <decollier@mindspring.com>
(1985) It is
with great sadness that I offer the following: Mark Vann-Class of 1980
succumbed to Cancer on March 4th, 2002 at his home near
Longmont, CO, at age 39. Mark had been diagnosed with Melanoma this past
Fall. He is survived by his Wife Jennifer, his Mom Ricki, Dad Bryant and
his brother Mike (Class of 83), and their families., A
fund has been set up to offset costs of Marks treatment and in support of
Jennifer Vann. Donations can be sent to: The Mark Vann Fund, P.O. Box 393,
Nederland, CO 80466. For
the many of you that probably don’t know.....Mark did get to live his
dream. He played his banjo
the best, at a Bluegrass Festival in Telluride, CO one day (twice (a.k.a.
two years in a row), which landed him a career with a fine group of
musicians, (and SUPER fine group of people) which later became Leftover
Salmon. www.leftoveralmon.com
(If any of you have any family members still in college ask them,
they’ll more than likely be able to tell you all about LoS.) Mark
was very well known, very much respected and overwhelmingly loved in this
genre of bluegrass with a unique twist. Many will sorely miss him. I know I will. I
took a personal pride in going to these shows and watching Mark play over
the last couple years, now sorry that I missed so many. My
deepest thoughts and sincerest prayers are with his family now and always
will be. http://www.leftoversalmon.com/ann/Vann.html Thank
you. From:

(1975) Message
from Coach Philbin “Doc” I
hope everyone enjoyed the Olympic games. Congratulations to the men &
women on the US Bobsled and Skeleton Team that won 6 medals in Salt Lake
City. The Bobsled & Skeleton federation won more medals than any other
federation within the Olympic Family. I had the opportunity to watch our
team in Salt Lake and I must say that it was an incredible experience and
something that I will never forget. VARGAS
