(1974) I
just want to say kudos to Mike Bonivia for becoming coach of the year and
his team being 10 and 1, and a proud father of Bryant Brooks (we call him
little Bryant) for playing on the team. He made an interception and ran 50
yards for a touchdown in their first play off game. And he made honorable
mention in the journal newspapers as a Jr. in high school Kristina
my daughter has been traveling all over including 4 countries and winning
her tournaments. She just recently won the gold medal in the Italian Open.
Last fall she one the Belgium Open (gold medal) she is presently 1 or 2 in
the USA. Depends on which poll you look at. She wants to try out for the
Olympics but they do not carry her weight class. Mary
(Worden, 1974) and I celebrated our 25 anniversary last year - pretty good
for being high school sweet hearts. Bryant From:

There are many others who made my time at Peary very memorable. Other

I know she recently divorced and spoke with her mother and know she
has moved to Hagerstown, but I still haven’t been able to track down an

so much for your hard work and dedication to this site and to keeping us
connected. I will send a

Janet Brooks Dixon <jdix@efxmedia.com>
(1981) Hello
fellow Huskies, Janet (Brooks) Dixon from the class of 1981 here. On May 3,4 and 5th I will be participating in a 60
mile walk from Baltimore to Washington DC in the AVON 3-Day Breast Cancer
Crusade. The crusade raises money to fund access to care and to find a
cure for breast cancer. I am
walking because, gratefully, I have NOT been affected nor have any woman
in my family. I want to keep
it that way. Please
help me to raise the minimum donation of $1,900. Any amount will be
greatly appreciated and go to a wonderful cause and is tax-deductible.
You can make an online donation at www.bethepeople.com.
My walker number is 5913. If
you do not feel comfortable with an online donation - download the form
and mail it in directly to the crusade. Also,
I will be wearing a banner on walk. Pink
for those who have survived any form of cancer and a white one for those
who have not survived. I
would be honored to wear the name(s) of your loved ones.
Please email me at jdix@efxmedia.com
with your information and / or if you have any questions. You can also go to www.avoncrusade.com
for detailed information on the event. Breast
cancer affects 1 in 8 woman and 80% of those have NO family history. Let’s help a woman, maybe even one you know, survive. Thank
you. From:

essay highlighted Karla’s active involvement as a first-rate wife of a

(1966) Hello
out there in peary-land. It
has been a long time since most of us have talked at all. Since graduating
my life has been very busy, not to mention a bit scary. First, the army
and a free trip to nam, what a blast; first day in my unit ambushed twice.
Along the way, I survived three hand to hand combats and numerous
firefights as they were called . I am also learning computer, so be
patient please. I then contracted dengie fever what a thrill, almost died
from that, lost about forty lbs. And came home real thin and sick, both
from fever, injury, and drug use. After all that fun, I went to barber
college in wheaton and have been cutting for 30 years. Along the way I
married, raised Phil and Teresa, and they have given Mary Ann and me 5
wonderful grandkids. They
are so great. I love to sing and play several instruments, but my musical
passion besides ricky nelson, is opera. Of which I have studied many
years. AND I might add have sung with some wonderful people. My other
passion besides Mary Ann, is my trains, When I come home at night that is
where I go, then I am a kid again. We live in OLNEY MARYLAND, and like it
a lot, I am married 32years in April and doing fine. Well cowpokes, I want
to hear you let er rip. Regards , Joe From:

(1981) They
say my friend was dead tonight. I don’t believe it. One week ago he lost
a battle with cancer. I know it. Bruce Arthur Whitten was not where we
wanted him to be tonight. I saw it. Everything is right with God and the
universe. I don’t understand it. God was with us tonight to tell us that
he is OK. I have faith in it. I am
glad that this was a memorial and celebration of his life. I need to
relive old shared memories and catch up on the too-long-in-between times. I am
stricken that I did not share the Bruce I knew with others that attended.
Please help me. I’ll tell you how I remember Bruce. I’ll tell you
where I remember Bruce and I’ll tell you why I remember Bruce, then you
can add on below. For
me this past week the thread of remembering Bruce began with thoughts of
flight and against the backdrop of a big sky. I think of him “flying”
through the air over water, into water, over tumbling mats, over people,
on the rings, on the bar, in a puddle jumper, tied to a rope and tied to
nothing. When I pull some more on this thread, I think of Eagles high over
a canyon. I think of his journey to become an Eagle.
I think of an eagle’s nest we saw on an Island in the middle of a
lake in Canada. I remember Bruce outdoors under the sky and against the
sky. I remember sharing a view from on high of a distant waterfall at
Yosemite where we saw those Eagles. I remember the thunderous sound and
feeling on our chests and shoulders of other waterfalls we explored to
reach the pocket of air against the rocks behind them. The water reminds
me. I
remember him on rivers, I remember him on lakes. I remember him on
“mosquito alley.” I remember him diving in a cold brackish river, I
remember him diving in the salty warm ocean. I remember him in the rough
rapids in a canoe, in a raft, in a kayak, swimming. I remember lying on
the deck of a sailboat staring at the stars. The
night reminds me. I
remember him at dusk in a mountain meadow. I can see him stretched out on
his sleeping bag under the stars. I remember him in the snow in his
sleeping bag under a lean-to. I can see him sleeping in the leaves under
another lean-to. I can see the dark night behind him and his face lit by a
cooking fire. I can see him in the full moonlight. I can see him in the
firelight. The
light reminds me. I
remember him against the sun hanging off the side of a rock face. I see
him on a slope against the bright mountain snow. I remember him on a trail
with the sun filtering through the leaves and playing on his backpack, I
remember him on a long dusty portage with the dust hanging in the air. The
still air reminds me. I
remember the feel of the wind on our faces. I hear the wind buffeting
against our tents, and feel it against our paddles, and against our sail.
I remember being blown by the wind and pushing against the wind. The
pushing reminds me. I can
feel the mirth of his laugh. I can hear his loud guffaw. I remember his
chuckle. I can hear his voice. I hear him say Raymond. I can hear him say
Dad. I can hear him say OK. I can hear him call out, “Mom!” The
sound reminds me. I can
hear a base clarinet. I can hear a sax. I can hear Amazing Grace. The
Grace reminds me. We
loved him and he loved us. God wove us together. God
reminds me. This
thread is not over, it has just been carried on to heaven. Thanks
be to God for our friend Bruce Whitten. I am
sad because I know I will not be able to remember all the good times we
had without his help. Help
me remember. I
have more to share. You have more to share. There is more. Much, much
more. Scott

(1981) Hi
everyone! Well,
the time has finally arrived. Set your VCR’s, pop your popcorn and
snuggle up in front of the fire, as long as you have your TV set to ABC!!
My episode of Once and Again is finally airing next Monday March 4th
at 10:00pm on ABC. You
all already know I play the Day Nurse. I’m in 3 different scenes.
The one scene you might have to look really hard for me. It’s the
one where I don’t talk. I’m smoking in the background with a Nun. Yes,
a Nun!! She’s pregnant too!
(Hi Jenna!!) So, I’m smoking with a pregnant nun. Figures! :) It’s the
scene where Sela Ward and Jessie are talking in the car at the hospital.
Look for me in the back by the parked cars.
I speak in the other scenes. Hahah you won’t be able to miss me!
:) Anyway,
the show is trying to be saved. Hopefully, they will bring me back for
other shows. Who knows? Letters to the network via the web sites, after
the show airs will help a lot!! And, then the chances of me going back as
recurring will be high!! I
hope you enjoy. I’m really excited to see the episode!! And,
thanks for everyone’s support!!! Allie From:
