PASSES AWAY: William H. Thomas, Jr. died on Thursday, November 8,
2001 at Shady Grove Hospital. He
had recently celebrated his 81st Birthday.
Service was held at Epworth United Methodist Church in Rehoboth
Beach, DE, with burial at All Saints Episcopal Cemetery on November 14th.
Notes and cards can be sent (c/o daughter) to: Nancy
Thomas Carman The
family wishes to thank those who sent notes and e-mails while Bill was
ill, and requests that any contributions made in Mr. Thomas’s memory be
sent to the American Diabetes Association, the American Lung Association,
the Elks Lodge in Lewes Delaware, Beebe Hospital in Lewes Delaware, or
Shady Grove Hospital in Gaithersburg Maryland. There
is a notice and guest book at Where
you may leave your condolences (either cut-and-paste the link above into
your browser, or click the link provided on the MSO website). Mr.
Thomas taught at Peary from its opening until 1981, and also sponsored Key
Club, the school store, and the Pom Pom squads.
Many may also recall running into him working at the A&P in
Aspen Hill. (I personally
recall an experience in Ocean City, involving half the Pommie squad in one
baby blue Chevy van (anyone else remember this, circa 1976? If you
don’t, I have photos.... ) CONDOLENCES:
Charles W. Rinaldi’s (1982), aunt Eloise Richard passed away October 2,
2001. Aunt Eloise lived in
Lexington, KY and was interred in Gibsonburg, OH next to her husband, Don,
who died in 1969. GRANDFATHER

Coach Duane Black (Las Vegas) called MSO recently to say hello and touch
base, and to let us know that his older daughter gave birth to another
child on October 19, 2001, making Coach Black and his wife 3rd-time
grandparents. Congratulations!
Mr. Black is now a ranger at a local golf course. ALUMNI

12/31/01 - all welcome, even if numbers reach into the hundreds!

Thanks to so many of you who have recently mailed donations!
Without you, there would be no newsletter or updated e-mail
listings and class announcements, and no website.
There are more than 3,600 alums and staff from 1963-1986 signed-up
to MSO and receive this newsletter each month.
Of those 3,600+, approximately 14-percent have generously supported
this 5-year-old project... which leaves 86-percent that we haven’t heard
from yet! Every little bit
helps; so we hope you’ll consider a donation soon.
There are other ways you can help, too....
order a Peary polo shirt or a lithograph of Redskins Stadium or
Camden Yards... these purchases assist the MSO project, with a portion of
the sales coming directly to MSO to help keep this project alive.
Or order a Peary Cookbook “Find a Way or Bake One” - these were
a hit at the R.E. Peary
Alumni Association’s Homecoming 2000 - while supplies last. Information
on the many methods you can select to donate/support MSO can be found
online, including Coach Burlas’s plan on becoming a “MSO
benefactor.” The
deadline for next issue of the Midnight Sun Online is Saturday December
22. “Submit an Article”
or “Sign-Up/Update” on MSO. May
each of you and your families have a wonderful holiday season, | Back to the Newsletter Selections |
