(1981) To
all Huskies (American Allies), It
was a real shock when the USA was attacked on that fateful day. I happened
to be in the UK on exchange exercise at the time. As a Warrant Officer
Class Two (WO2) in the Australian Army, Royal Australian Artillery, my
natural response was for the US to attack the person/people responsible.
It seems unreal that such an act of war could happen so easily. No one saw
it coming. Please rest assured that we (all Australians) support you as a
nation and have pledged our support. On that thought, I have been
extremely busy at work instructing elements of our Forces in the use of
specialist tactical equipment. Needless to say, whichever nation
“gets” those responsible; it will not entirely justify those who died.
There is solidarity in knowing that you are in our thoughts and prayers.
May God be on your side. Craig

(1974) How I
found out about the website? Been aware of it for many years now. Occupation:
Federal Employee, Spouse: Robin, Children: Evan - 14 years old... Freshman
at Sherwood High School. Lauren - 11 years old ... 6th grade at
Rosa Parks Middle School. Grandchildren: much too early to guess at what
my grandchildren’s names will be. Memorable
Incidents: Same as I mentioned before... The class of 1974 was the
greatest group to ever graduate from Peary.
Each and every day was special to us. Since
High School: Working for the government.
Took some time off to work in the private sector, but I recently
passed received my 20 year pin for working for the Federals.
Wow, I’ve started to turn into my father. Future
Plans: Keep working hard. My
wife Robin has been unemployed for a few months now.
This has put a bit of a burden on my family.
Robin is the most incredible person I could have ever been blessed
with. She has an incredible
amount of experience working in Human Resources, especially running a
department. She is smart,
funny, sensitive, determined, and organized.
Sometimes I wonder why she married me.
If anyone of you living in the Olney, Rockville, Gaithersburg,
Bethesda area, are in need of someone to run your Human Resources
department, or know of any openings, I would appreciate you letting me
know. I can be reached
through my email addresses. The
world has gone crazy these past few weeks. I wish we could turn the clock back to 1974 when life was
easier. But since we can’t
we must work harder today together, to make this a better world for our
kids. Please let me know if
anything comes up that could help us.
Thank you. From:
Karyl Muirhead Riley <kaykay1164@yahoo.com>
(1982) My
sister, Karla (Muirhead) Walsh, Class of 1980, has been chosen to run as a
Support Runner in the 2002 Olympic Torch Run. She will be running the
2-mile stretch in California representing the San Diego area. I nominated
her last year through an email sponsored by Coca Cola on a lark. I wrote
an essay on why I thought she should be chosen and now she is training to
run in January! GOOD LUCK! From:
Michael E. King <michael.king2@home.com>
(1973) I
found out about the website while websurfing.
Occupation:
Research Physicist Children: Rachel 14 Memorable
Incidents: Scoring Peary’s only goal against Walter Johnson HS in my
senior year on the soccer team. It was a great shot and a great rush even
though we ended up losing the game in the last few minutes.
The soccer team’s trip to a soccer tournament in Ireland was also
memorable. Since
High School: What have I been doing since graduating? Wow! So much has
happened. I went to Montgomery College for a couple of years while I
decided what I wanted to do. In
1976 I transferred to the University of Maryland majoring in chemical
engineering, switched majors to electrical engineering and graduated with
a BS EE in 1980. Went to work for Westinghouse Electric (near the BWI airport)
concentrating on microelectronics and stayed with them until 1984.
I met my ex-wife in 1983, was married in 1985; we had our only
child in 1987. We were separated in 1992 and divorced in 1993. I joined
the Department of Defense in 1984 and have continued to work there up to
the present. While here, I completed an MS in physics at UMBC and a PhD in
Physics from Howard University in 1996. I played a lot of intramural
basketball in the 1980’s but slacked off a bit since injuring my knee.
In the past four years I’ve developed a real passion for swing dancing;
mostly Lindy Hop, WCS as well as Latin dancing. If I had known I’d like
it so much I would’ve started years ago.
I can often be seen at swing dance spots (like Glen Echo) in the
Balt/DC area. Currently, I’m a single dad living with my daughter in
Columbia, MD. Future
Plans: Get my daughter through HS and through college and avoid becoming a
grandfather prematurely! I’d like to retire and open up my own dance
studio someday. Memorable
Teachers: Mr. Courtney for electrical shop; He was just a funny, absent
minded professor type of guy. Mr
Clarke’s classes were memorable; you really had to pay attention in that
class. And of course his map girl ruse was always a hit. What ever
happened to “hot pants” anyway? I remember liking Mr. Kilpatrick’s
history class but I can’t really remember specific incidents. The
website is really first rate. Although I wasn’t very active at Peary and
haven’t gone to any of the reunions, this website has rekindled my
interest in my old high school. I’ll
definitely try to make my 30th yr.

the Chesapeake boating. Traveling across country. From:

I would love to hear from classmates just to catch up. Also, if anyone knows what has happened to Mary Jo Wurdeman,
please let me know. I’ve

(1980) Since
my last submission I’ve been enjoying life and watching my 2 children
grow before my eyes, Nicole 20 and Kyle 5. Time sure does fly.

beautiful bride. And my son is in his first year of elementary school.
I’m a fulltime accountant and attend MC part time. I don’t have much
time on my hands to enjoy the social life.
Being a fulltime mother, accountant, grandmother and a part time
student, I hardly have time to breathe, but you know what, I wouldn’t
trade my life for the world. Life is too short for complaints, so enjoy
your life and cherish the love ones that you are bless to have. From:

(1966) Hi
All, Just
wanted to send out a note to you all about a few things. Re
the recent passing of Mr. Bill Thomas (former Peary teacher).
I had him for a Civic class in the 9th grade and really
enjoyed his class. Our
prayers are with his family. The
Videos have been sent out to all that ordered them...Jim and I really
enjoyed watching it and it brought back so many wonderful memories of that
weekend. It seems so long ago
now. I was really pleased how they were able to get everyone on video as
we were all following Dave Spurlock playing the bag pipes coming up the
steps to gather for the class photo.... :-)
Several that received the Video who weren’t able to attend have
said after watching it that they’ll defiantly do whatever it takes to
attend our 40th...and how sorry they were to have missed this
one and several that only attended Saturday night—after seeing what all
went on Friday night at the cocktail party, the pool party on Saturday and
the tour on Sunday of the school said they’d now make it a point to be
there ALL weekend so as NOT to miss anything!! ...... I called the video
co. and ask them if they would please extend additional time period since
I’m hearing now that several others of you that hadn’t order the video
want it .....so the good news is.....they have told me that any orders
they get from now until DEC. 5th
they will fill....(unfortunately they are getting into a different field
and I’m sad to say that this Co. won’t be able to do our reunions in
the future) NOT only do they
do a great job , they have been wonderful about only charging for the
video’s themselves and not for their filming time which other companies
charge for. So I’ll be
searching for a good company and a good deal for the next reunion. To
Order the video from our recent reunion,..... Send
your name, address, phone no., and indicate Peary class of ‘66 reunion
Aug. 17th, 2001 weekend along with a check for $27.50 (Md.
residents must add 1.25 extra for tax making it $28.75 )
to Sonority Multimedia -- 2189 Bellemonte Ct. Jefferson, Md.
21755-9119 for your copy of the Video..... Also
again if you have any pictures from the weekend that you can send me to
post on the web page we’ll be working on it would be greatly
appreciated....and I can return them to you......Send them to me Gale
Privette 8 Seville way, Gaithersburg, Md. 20878 Thanks... :-) Please
check out the Peary Web page under class of ‘66 missing persons list
that I have just updated and if you know the whereabouts of any of these
people please let me know. ********
Class of ‘66 ladies luncheon******** A
ladies luncheon is being planned for Saturday Dec. 15th at
O’Donnell’s Restaurant in the Kentlands Shopping center in
Gaithersburg. The time is
from 12:30 P.M. ....until we get thrown out ..... :-)
....it was suggested that those attending bring a $5.00 wrapped
gift for a gift exchange. If you are interested in attending PLEASE RSVP to me BY Dec.
5th....so I may get a head count of how many will be
attending and can make reservations.... The last two yrs. we did this was
really a lot of fun and we hope a lot more of you can join us this
year.......My apologies to the MEN for leaving them out. !!!
Maybe we can come up with something that they can attend next time
!!!!!! Hope
you all have a VERY Safe and Blessed Thanksgiving and enjoy spending this
special time with your families..... Hugs
to all....... From:

(1979) I
hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving.
I was clearing out some stuff in the house & went thru my
yearbooks and a funny memory stuck out.
Donnie DelVecchio (79) always teased me about liking Barry Manilow.
I happened to see Barry Manilow on “Rosie O’Donnell” and
“Regis and Kelly”, so that is why this memory stuck in my mind. Next
year, our family will have a new family member—as my brother and his
wife are expecting a baby boy in March.
My sister in-law has an 8-1/2 year old son who we just love and
adore and this new baby boy will just be a delight as well.
Extending Hanukkah and Christmas wishes as well. On a
side note, I just learned Lynne Keady Galletti (78) and hubby Greg are
having their 4th in January!!
Gay Laurienzo San Severino (79) and hubby Rick STILL have 8 kids.
The oldest, Dominic, will be 18 in February and will graduate HS.

granddaughter, Rachel, in the summer.

For some reason, was just thinking about our Class of ‘76 group photo
(it’s packed away somewhere here in Vegas) with Gail Melanson in the
front row wearing an “Oasis” band shirt.
Hundreds of these band shirts were designed and screened by Rob
(1974) and Bill (1978) Loewy’s mom at, I think, 50-cents a shirt - such
a deal. Thank you for being a
great band groupie, Gail! (BTW,
that unknown fellow in the Class of 1974 group photo, with a blank name in
the key.... yours truly... it all comes out now... I must have been
skipping Hunt’s band, Cino’s gym, or Vadala’s English class at the
time I snuck into the photo on the hill.
Craig Cook and Steve Cissell prompted me to do it, then, of course,
threw me into the senior court.... “Sophomore in the Senior Court!”
Just great...)
