Online from your 35-year reunion activities! CONDOLENCES:
Mrs. Margaret Scuderi passed away on August 30, 2001.
Scuderi family alumni online include Vic (1966) (nephew), Ann
Scuderi Rand (1968), and Connie Scuderi Gallerizzo (1975) (daughter).
The funeral was held at St. Patrick’s church, attended by her
children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, friends and other family.
She was laid to rest at Gate of Heaven cemetery.
Our condolences to the family. BRAD
OSCAR (1982):
Marianne Keffer-Zweig (1969) had the wonderful opportunity to attend a
performance of The Producers on Broadway the summer of 2001, AND visited
backstage with Peary’s own Brad Oscar.
Brad is a Tony-nominated actor that we’re very proud of!
Photos are now online in the “People in the News” section. CLASS
OF 1978:
Please welcome your MSO Online Co-Coordinators, Teresa Cross Wilson and
Mary Ann Naples Vann, who will assist in collecting information from MSO
for class records and class activities.
Thank you to Lynne Keady Galletti for her help over the years! NANCY
VAN MEIR ROSE (1966): A Memorial Service was held for Nancy Van Meir Rose
(1966), who passed away on June 7, 2001, on October 20th.
Thank you to all those who were able to attend and/or sent the
family their condolences and thoughts. WTC -
SEPTEMBER 11, 2001:
Jan Zlotnick (1973) resides, and has an office, in NYC. His experience with the WTC tragedy is posted online.
Visit www.pearyhs.org and
click on the “MSO and 9-11-01” link to read about it, and you’ll
find some other links submitted by other alumni as well. REUNIONS:
All reunions and large-event activities by Peary classes for 2001 are
complete and were pulled-off successfully!
Planning for next year’s class reunions has begun.
Karen Kushner (1982) is seeking volunteers to assist her with the
20-year reunion—please contact her if you can assist in some way at kushnerk@arentfox.com.
Sandy Van Dusen (1977) has begun tentative plans for a local event
to celebrate the 25-year milestone. All
other classes have yet to report any plans for graduating classes that are
due for a reunion in 2002. Most
graduating classes have submitted and update a “Missing Persons” list
online—take a look at some of the lists and let us know if you know
where any of these folks are. LAS
VEGAS GET-TOGETHER:
The tentative 1976/1977 Joint Reunion in Las Vegas was put on the
back burner for so long by yours truly, it would be virtually impossible
to organize such a class-specific event with the amount of time remaining
to plan a truly successful event. The Class of 1977 would like to invite all 1976 classmates to
their reunion in 2002. However,
since the majority of those who responded to the original idea of a joint
reunion out West was relatively overwhelming (approx. 80% were in-favor)
and most would still like to spend some time out in Vegas for a combined
Peary Alumni get-together with family trips/ vacations.... the direction
now leans towards organizing a multi-class Peary bash, since several
members of other classes were also interested in hopping aboard the group
discounts. So, stay tuned for
more information about a multi-class, group-discount trip to Vegas...
possibly fall 2002 or early 2003.
(I would love to be on that flight out from the East!)
It takes a lot of researching and planning, and I’m operating
“solo” out here to try and organize such an event while maintaining
MSO (daily) and my regular “real” work! All Peary grads and their families will be welcomed.
Again stay tuned for further information.
In the meantime, as many alums already have.... let me know if
you’ll be out this way... will attempt to hook-up with anybody who’s
in-town for a visit! And, hey, we’ll try to meet-up with Coach Duane Black too,
who just relocated here with his wife this summer.
There are about 5 Peary alums that we know of residing in Las
Vegas. We’d
love to see you! HOLIDAY
GIFT-GIVING:
It’s that time of year again to start thinking about the holidays.
It’s the perfect time to order a Peary shirt for an alumni friend
(or for yourself!), or lithograph of Redskins Stadium or Camden Yards...
these purchases assist the MSO project, with a portion of the sales coming
directly to MSO to help keep this project alive.
We have no corporate sponsors to cover our bills to bring you the
MSO newsletter and pay for hosting the Peary website.
Additional information on how you can donate/support MSO can be
found online, including Coach Burlas’s plan a “MSO benefactor” to
invest $500 or more - the interest earned will benefit this project.
To-date, approximately 12% of alumni listed have directly supported
the project through donations. There
are now more than 3,600 of the 10,400+ students who passed-through those
hallways on Arctic Avenue signed-on to MSO—keep spreading the word...
let’s get the rest of them! The
deadline for next issue of the Midnight Sun Online is Saturday November
24. “Submit an Article”
or “Sign-Up/Update” on MSO. Happy
Halloween! | Back to the Newsletter Selections |
