(1979) Just
wanted to let everyone know that Glenn Capacchione (1978) graduated from
Allegany College of Maryland with an A.A. degree this past May, with
Honors! He will be
transferring to Frostburg State University in the fall to complete his
B.S. in History. Needless to
say we are all very proud of him. Connie

(1981) The
Class of 1981 reunion (held July 28) was a wonderful success. We had over
200 people attend and it was great to see so many classmates.
A big THANK YOU goes to Kathy Goldsborough for all of her hard work
in planning and coordinating the event.
Kathy was the focal point for most of the event and did a WONDERFUL
job. Anyone who could not
attend or didn’t hear about the event in time, please keep your
information current on the website so that we can keep track of everyone
for future reunions. Many
thanks to Bob Lau for his help too. I
encourage all of you to send in a donation to MSO - it’s a great way for
all of us to stay in touch and updated on life beyond Peary. From:
Tari Alden Norum <TEEJAYN@aol.com>

a positive example, did not do much for self-esteem. Don’t
see Gary Ebert or Pete Watkins on the list, any idea what they’re doing? From:
Sharon Kowalski Baharoff <sbaharoff@mtbw.com>
(1982) In
June I had the pleasure of accompanying my 13yr old daughter on a trip to
Atlanta for the Jr Olympics Air Rifle competition.
This was only her 1st full year shooting and she only
shoots 1/week. We didn’t
have very high expectations. She placed around 75th out of 125
shooters. The surprising news was later when we found out she was 1st,
National Champion, in her age group. Go

there going to be a 40 year reunion in 2005? From:
Class of 1981 Reunion Committee The
MSO was essential in our efforts to contact alumni and coordinate plans
for our recent 20th Reunion.
Don’t know what we would have done without it! In
appreciation, the Class of 1981 was very pleased to have been able to make
a donation to support the MSO and its future endeavors. Thanks

Class of 1981 From:
Jennifer English <jenglish@PBS.ORG>
(Whitman 1987) Hello
all, I’m
sending this note to see if I can solicit your help for the newly formed
MCPS Alumni Campaign. We are
just starting to get the word out about the campaign so you may be
unfamiliar with it (which is just beginning this year). In short, the
campaign was recently started to help current and future MCPS students
become successful by supporting key educational ingredients. This
support would come in the form of grants for programs that: -
Enhance and augment high quality programs -
Promote and support competent and committed staff -
Strengthen and expand parent involvement Overall,
the purpose of the Alumni campaign is to provide the school system
(teachers, principals and community members) with annual funds to support
supplemental programs that otherwise would go without funds. It is
our goal to encourage each high school to raise $10,000 or more annually.
If you, or any alumni you know would be interested in volunteering
to help with this program, please let me know. Best
regards, From:
Class of ‘85 Reunion Committee <peary85@hotmail.com> Unbeknownst
to the majority of the reunion planning committee the room at Bauer Drive
Recreation Center is not available. Due
to this fact we are changing the reunion to a picnic at Lake Needwood.
Bring your family, food for your family and anything else your
family will need for a day at the park. For
those of you that we have received checks from you should find your voided
check in with this letter. For
those of you that have mailed us checks but the check is still in the
mail, we will void them as they are received and return them at the
picnic. Date:
Saturday, September 22nd New
Location: Lake Needwood - Look for the blue and white balloons New
Time: 11am ‘til sun down Happy
Hour After the Reunion Picnic.... “Riptide”
is playing at the Outta the Way Cafe on Saturday, September 22, 2001 at
9:30pm. The management at
Outta the Way would love for everyone who attends our reunion picnic to
make our way to their fine establishment and pack the house for a great
night of music. Riptide is an acoustic rock band that has some Peary
Alumni from other classes featured in it. Let’s
go show our support for fellow Alumni and continue the reunion into the
night. We
have found over 65% of the class - many of whom are not on the Peary
website at www.pearyhs.org. We would like to share the e-mail and mailing information we
have received with your follow classmates, therefore we are asking you to
notify us in one of the following methods if you do not wish to have this
information shared. You can
contact us at peary85@hotmail.com. We
will also e-mail peoples responses to the questionnaire to everyone who we
have e-mail addresses for so make more work for us and submit your
questionnaire, if you don’t have it anymore it can be downloaded from
the MSO website at www.pearyhs.org
or contact us via e-mail and we’ll get you another copy. Thank

(1965) How I
found out about the website? I registered with classmates.com. Occupation:
State Corrections Officer Memorable
Incidents: I’ll never forget being in Mr. Wick’s 5th period
typing class when the news of President Kennedy’s assassination was
broadcast over the loudspeakers. And
getting in a fistfight with my best friend (I’ll spare us the
embarrassment - he knows who he is!) in Mr. Thomas’s 5th
period civics class. And Mr.
Thomas dragging us by our ears down to the vice principal’s office. Since
High School: I went to college in Orange County, California when I
enlisted in the US Navy in 1967 during the Vietnam War.
Later, I took employment with the State of California in a state
prison as a temporary measure while I looked for something a little more
palatable, and ended up staying here in California (San Diego). Future
Plans: Retire within the next year or so and do some traveling Memorable
Teachers: My 8th grade English teacher, Mr. Moran.
I was kind of a jerk in his class, but he was always nice to me and
I’ve always felt guilty about it. And
Mr. Gibbs, who also taught English. His
classes were always fun and I learned a love of old movies from him. My
family moved to New York in 1964, so even though I am a Peary “Plankowner,”
I did my senior year and graduated in 1965 in New York. QUICK
