INTRODUCTION
Greetings Huskies: BENEFIT
FOR JOHN LEJNAR
(1979): John has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
This is a terminal cancer, which has already spread to his liver.
John is fighting for his life.
This event was held this evening (4/29) at the VFW Hall in Wheaton,
MD. There was a Musical
Concert, a food & bake sale, and a silent auction.
All proceeds from the evening will go directly to help John.
If you were unable to attend, there are still ways you can help
John, Linda, and their two young children.
Please visit the MSO website for the details. SURPRISE!
We’ve been assured by all that Mr. Hill does not have access to
the web or e-mail, so this information has been posted on the website.
Mr. Warrick Hill will celebrate his 75th birthday on
June 7th. MSO,
Gale Senseman Privette (1966), and Mrs. Hill are calling on Peary alums to
submit cards and letters to create a memory book that will be presented to
him. Include what Mr. Hill
meant to you at Peary. Materials must be received by May 20th, so this is
your last reminder. Please
include your name, your graduation year, and if you can - a photo, to help
him recall (so many students!). Yes,
we want a truckload for this one! Preferably,
send hardcopy materials.... cards, letters, photos... by mail to: “Mr.
Hill, c/o Gale Senseman Privette, 8 Seville Way, Gaithersburg, MD
20878.” Alternatively, you
can send items via e-mail to Gale at: gale7@juno.com,
but snail-mailed items will make it easier to compile the book. As
mentioned last time, PLEASE DON’T call Mr. or Mrs. Hill or send anything
to their home. If you have
any questions, please direct them to Gale at her e-mail address above. REUNIONS:
Reunion info is always accessible in your respective Class
Information Section online. Most
classes have an up-to-date “missing persons” list online too—if you
know where any of these people are, let your class coordinator(s) know! Additionally,
the Class of ‘71 would like to invite all former Huskies to help
celebrate their 30-year reunion. Please
come to a Happy Hour/ Karaoke Party at the Gaithersburg Hilton on Friday,
May 4 at 7:00 p.m. Free
admission - cash bar. The
Hilton is located at 620 Perry Parkway right next to the Montgomery County
Fairgrounds. Join the Class of ‘71 as they remember the good old days!!
Any questions please e-mail Anna Nicolaisen, gnicol@erols.com,
or Roz Rubin, rrubin@ravdin-wofford.com. DONATIONS:
Please see Coach Burlas’s plan at the end of this newsletter to help
support the MSO project. The
proposal was accepted by the Robert E. Peary Alumni Association. Hopefully, some of you will be able to participate! This
is a user-supported project—no subscription or membership is required to
access the information. There
are approximately 3,000 classmates listed/signed-up on MSO (out of 3,422)
that we have never heard from. We
hope you’ll help support the Midnight Sun Online. CONDOLENCES
TO ALUMNI AND THEIR FAMILIES: Jean

He will be recovering at home for the next couple of weeks. Mrs.

Lutheran Church in Kensington, MD. If
you would like to contact alumni above, visit the website.
These notices are posted and have e-mail contacts for most of these
alums. REPHSAA:
Visit the alumni association’s website at www.pearyalum.org
to find out more about Peary-Henson Day activities scheduled for May 6th,
including a ceremony to return the larger anchor in its original spot. Also,
John Horvat is collecting items for the Peary time capsule.
One of the things that has been suggested is for people to submit
an essay entitled “What Peary Meant to Me.”
The deadline for essays is July 15 and should be e-mailed to Terry
Brooks (1969) at terry-b@att.net.
They will be copied onto a CD for permanent residence in the time
capsule and also posted on the pearyalum.org site.
Your name and year of graduation needs to be included. The
next meeting of the Alumni Association will be held on May 2, 7:30pm at
the Berman Academy (former REPHS building).
All are invited. MSO
ARTICLES:
A MSO article was submitted online from the website by an apparent 1974
alumnus. Please note that
unaccountable articles from alums who have not signed-up with MSO (i.e.
submitted without an e-mail address to confirm the submission) will not be
posted in the newsletter. The
deadline for the next issue of the Midnight Sun Online is Saturday May 26.
“Submit an Article” or “Sign-Up/Update” on the MSO website
to let your friends know what you’ve been up to! Bob
Lau, Editor/Webmaster P.S.
