From:
Tom Neel <tneel@earthlink.net>
(1973) I
found out about the website from an Excite search.
Occupation:
Artist, Spouse: Linda, Children: No children, but there’s always a cat
around. Memorable
Incidents: I’m trying to remember, those were some wild days. Since
High School: I was a part of the DECA program working half days while
still in school and once out I started long automotive career, which
included racing and finally ending as a National sales manager living in
L.A. I was 30 and it was the
mid 80s and I really wanted something that would be more creatively
stimulating. So, I left L.A.
and returned to Gaithersburg Md. where for some crazy reason I
dabbled in commercial real estate for about 3 years until meeting my wife
Linda who at that time owned an art gallery in Leesburg, Va.
I had always loved art and writing even though I never attending
art class past the 9th grade, but I did write an automotive
column for the Midnight Sun called Wheels and there is no question that
Kathleen Heidelberger was my favorite teacher.
I had always been one to sketch since I was very young and into
photography, fine scale model building etc. Anyway, Soon after I was at
the gallery too and my painting came alive. My
wife and I then sold the gallery in 1990 to go work for a large fine art
print publisher in Connecticut where we lived for about 4 years before
returning to the Middleburg, Va. area where we now live in a modest home
on 11 acres. I now
split my time between painting fine art landscapes and Ferrari racing
cars. Both which took me to
France, England and Italy last year.
Besides that, I guess I spend most of my time on a lawn mower or a
motorcycle. That’s life! Future
Plans: We’ll just see, hell I’m doing what most people do when they
retire! My niece is getting
married in May and then my wife and I are off to England.
Past that is a big ? Memorable
Teacher: Mentioned her above and the reason why is I think my parents were
the first I new back in those days to get a divorce.
I didn’t know anyone else in school going through what I was
going through. It was tough
and if anyone has interesting memories of my days back then, this was the
reason. Mrs. Heldelberger just understood me.
I love to know what she’s up to.
School was tough for me; she made part of it a lot easier. Nice
to find you. Hope all are
doing well. From:
Lisa Silver <lisa.ost@vistait.com>
(1979) I
found out about the website from searching the Web.
Occupation:
Business Development Manager, Significant Other: Andrew Melvin, Children:
“Jazzy” - my 3 year old, 80-lb Golden Retriever! Memorable
Incidents: Many hours in the girl’s bathroom Since
High School: Traveling all over the world scuba diving and learning about
diverse cultures. Future
Plans: Getting married July 4th in Las Vegas. Traveling to Fiji
in May 2001 for underwater exploration. Memorable
Teacher: I remember John Botler’s English class because we could use
curse words in our papers and presentations. I
would love to hear from Lynn or Lisa Prothero From:
Class of ‘85 Reunion Planning Committee <peary85@hotmail.com> The

kim white littleton <kimberly.littleton@gen.pge.com>
(1980) I got
married in 1999 to Brian Littleton (Springbrook “81”)
We had a daughter named Jessica May 9, 2000. My brother Ricky White
“77” is working for channel 2 and lives in Baltimore. It
was nice seeing people from my graduation class reunion weekend. I enjoy
reading the MSO newsletter and seeing what classmates have been up to.
Thanks for all the hard work that you put into the MSO website. From:
Carol Hoover <cahooverca@yahoo.com>
(1965) I
found out about the website through a web search.
Occupation:
Computer Systems Analyst, Spouse: Paul Pattison Memorable
Incidents: The days that they broadcast news events over the PA and normal
events stopped. Most vivid is the day Kennedy was shot. I was in Orchestra
when the story first came on. We sat there, stunned, trying to understand
what they were saying. Next period, our Chemistry teacher actually made us
take a test! Then at home, running upstairs to tell my mother, who
hadn’t yet heard the news. Spring
term senior year, sitting outside in the sun between classes and talking
about the future. Since
High School: After graduating from college (Michigan State and University
of Michigan), I lived near Chicago for several years, and then spent a
couple of years in Detroit. By 1980, I felt the need for a break from
work. I put my belongings in storage and started traveling across the
country. After a couple of months on the road, I stopped in LA to visit a
man I had worked with at Ford and have lived in California ever since!
(We got married in 1990 on our 10th anniversary.) We
both enjoy traveling (when we’re not working too hard). Some of our
favorite trips include Turkey, Malaysia, and France.
The Yucatan peninsula is one of the few areas we’ve returned to
several times. Future
Plans: We’re playing with retirement scenarios. Trying to balance moving
inland where the cost of living is much lower against working longer and
getting to stay by the ocean. Memorable
Teachers: Mrs. Magrab, 11th grade English. I credit much of my
vocabulary to her. She gave us unusual, but interesting assignments. (Remember cutting vocabulary words in the paper? Or writing a
poem in the style of the Spoon River anthology?) She once read to us from Beowolf in the original Old English! And
then there was Mr. Gibbs who had us learn the names of all the Shakespeare
plays (except Titus Andronicus) and the names and composers of several
operas. And transformed our dramatics program when he took over the
directing of the annual musical. I
haven’t seen anyone since the 10-year reunion. I tried to find some
information for our 20-year reunion without success, so I’m glad to find
a way to get back in touch! Thanks
to the person who put this together! QUICK
