(1968) Dear
Bob, Thank
you for starting and running this site. I heard from so many people over
the last several weeks expressing their condolences. Many of them I
hadn’t heard from in over thirty years. It would have been impossible
without this technology and without someone who took the time to make it
work. Thanks again. Paul
Coder From:
Eric Treworgy <treworgy@konnect.net>
(1981) I
have been viewing MSO for several years now.
Occupation:
USMC Pilot, Spouse: Serena Roh (1982) Treworgy, Serena’s Occupation:
Teacher, Children: Tyler R. 13, Alicia A. 10, Grandchildren: None yet!! Memorable
Incidents: Senior skip day. After football game parties. Since
High School: After Peary, I attended West Virginia University where I
re-met my wife Serena. After graduating, I was commissioned into the US
Marine Corps. After officer basic training I was sent to flight school in
Pensacola, FL where I earned my wings as a helicopter pilot.
My son Tyler was born there. I
spent the next 6 years in North Carolina as a CH-46 pilot (will the MV-22
ever replace it?). During my
tour in NC I was deployed for two 6-month deployments on a ship, one
6-month deployment in Japan, and one deployment to Saudi Arabia for Desert
Shield/Storm. During all those deployments, Serena and I somehow found time
to have our daughter, Alicia. After
my tour in NC, I attend the US Naval Test Pilot School in Patuxtent River,
MD both as a student, then as an instructor. I was a Program Manager for
the CH-46 for developmental testing. What a great kept secret southern MD
is! Next I deployed to
Okinawa, Japan for three years, this time I took the whole family.
What an experience living in Japan has been, especially living on a
subtropical island. The
Japanese have been such wonderful hosts.
Okinawa is a great place live.
Virtually no crime and it is very laid back. Also, its location has
allowed us to visit many Asian countries.
Next in the line-up is obtaining another Masters degree, this time
from the US Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA.
We will be moving there this summer. Future
Plans: Obtaining a Masters in Space Systems Operations and being
stationed, hopefully, in Colorado. Memorable
Teachers: Mr Hill with his quick quips.
Mr Clarke and his habit of having the girls in short dresses
getting up in front of the class and reaching up for the pull-down maps or
screen. Nice
work on the website. From:

(1971) It is
with great sadness and grief that I advise anyone who knew him, my brother
Tom Johnston Class of 1966 was killed on Sunday, Jan. 28 as the result of
a glider plane accident. For
anyone who knew Tom during his high school years, they were aware of his
fascination and abilities in the field of aviation.
Tom went on to the University of Cincinnati were he acquired his
degree in Aerospace Engineering and worked for many years for a company in
Connecticut called Hamilton Standards.
In recent years he had started up his own consulting company and
had traveled the world from Russia to China.
He leaves his wife Barbara of 28 years, and 3 children.
His daughter Kara is 22 and he and Barbara have adopted two
children from Guatamula - Ted who will be 4 and Elita who is only 18
months old. Our family is in a state of shock to have lost him so soon.
My other brothers are Skip (Fred) Johnston who graduated first
class at Peary 1963 and Andy Johnston class of 1969.
Please pass this along to anyone who may have known Tom. Jeri

(1982) Dear
Peary friends, As I
begin to train for the AVON 3-Day, I am repeatedly reminded of how truly
lucky I’ve been. I’ve
never experienced a bone scan, I’ve never been referred to an
oncologist, I’ve never had to endure radiation or chemotherapy.
I’ve never had to shop for a wig or use a cap to disguise a
baldhead. I’ve never had to
recuperate from reconstructive surgery or schedule monthly IVs in order to
receive hormone therapy drugs. I
can say I’ve undoubtedly been blessed.
I’ve learned so much from the others training for this event, and
I’ve gained so much from their courage. But
that’s why I’m challenging myself to complete this 60-mile walk. I don’t want anyone to have to experience these things,
related to breast cancer or any cancer.
The statistics are alarming, but the people that have fought the
battle are indescribable. If
I can prevent even one person from having to fight cancer, I will have
accomplished my goal. The
money raised from the AVON 3-Day will be awarded to local and national
organizations dedicated to screening, treatment and research in breast
cancer and women’s health. Some facilities are providing treatment and education to
lower-income women, while others provide support to the families of the
patient undergoing treatment. If
you have already sponsored me for the May 2001 walk, I sincerely thank
you; you have already helped to make a difference.
If you have not yet done so, please consider sponsoring me in honor
or in memory of someone, or simply because you believe in this cause. If you have any questions about the AVON 3-Day or the way the
money raised will be distributed, please write to me. Thank you. From:

(1968) On
January 24, 2001, my mother Margie Ridgway went home to the Lord and to be
reunited with her husband and my two sisters, Lynn (class of ‘70) and
Rachel. Mother put up a long hard battle with the ravages of
Alzheimer’s disease. I am
sure many classmates will remember how mother used to run a “home away
from home” and always had an ear to listen.
My brother Art (class of ‘66) and I were most delighted as Dave
Spurlock (class of ‘66) played the bagpipes at mother’s funeral
service. Mother always loved
the bagpipes and the house full of kids. From:
Art Ridgway <aaridg@earthlink.net>
(1966) On
January 24th my Mother passed away in Florida after a long and
debilitating bout with Alzheimer’s. My sister Missie (Class of 68), and
her husband Larry Rubin (Also Class of 66) and I made the proper
arrangements. My ex-wife Judy (Miller) (Peary Class of 68, but transferred
to Wisconsin in 1966) was there as well. So often, even in sadness so many
times Blue Skies shine through Gray Clouds, and this was no exception. As
[our] mother was always one to have her doors wide open for all, so many
Peary students came through her doors. Our sister Linda, a/k/a Lynn (Peary
Class of 70, but transferred in 68 to NY) included. Many came to know
[our] Mom as their “second Mom”. We can all no doubt relate.
Accordingly, and with great pride, two very special other Peary alumni
also made the trek, paying their final respects. Dave Spurlock, and Joe
Bartlett (all Class of 66). Dave, Joe, and I were all members of the Peary
Pipe Band. Joe and his wife left Bruce Ott’s (Peary Class of 66) home in
Texas (while on their vacation) so they could be with us.
Dave has since continued and has his own Pipe Band today. Dave
played Amazing Grace in full regalia at the service, the lone piper at her
side, a very moving tribute that virtually transfixed the audience.
As if this weren’t enough, Gale (Senseman) Privette (and her
husband Jimmy - all Peary Class of 66) called Missie’s home while we
were all there in Florida just to offer her condolences and support. (Gale
lost her Mom in a similar manner) As we
all face life’s inevitable, isn’t it marvelous the bond of what back
then seemed so innocent, yet today fills one with comfort and warmth? Mr.
Warrick Hill himself, even called our family earlier this year just to
offer his prayers and support. It may have been years ago, but friends ARE
for life. As any of you who read this might tend to shrug off thoughts of
participating in your next respective Class Reunion(s), think about it.
How many friends do you have out there? It is a most precious gift. As for
me, count me “IN” for the upcoming (I can’t believe this) >35th<
Reunion in Rockville this summer. You bet, I’ll fly out from out here in
California. Looking forward to seeing/hearing from any of you all.
And, Thanks. ART
