INTRODUCTION Happy
Holidays Huskies! I’ll
keep the intro as brief as possible so you can get straight to the alumni
updates. Besides, it’s
Christmas Day and I have some last minute baking to do! CONDOLENCES:
To the families that follow, you are in our thoughts and prayers at
this time and we extend our deepest condolences. Steve
Cohen (1976) died at his home in Damascus, MD on September 29th
of this year, surrounded by his family.
There was no memorial service, though his wife has planned one for
next summer at Myrtle Beach (where Steve’s parents now live).
He is survived by his wife, Beth, and two sons (one is a freshman
at Penn State, the other is a sophomore at Damascus High School).
A friend of the family stated, “He remained, until the end, the
most caring person I have ever known, still putting others and their needs
first. He was extremely
devoted to his family and his friends and spent as much time trying to
comfort them as they did him.” Eleanor
T. Coder, mother of Bill ‘67, Paul (1968), Martha ‘75, and
mother-in-law to Marsha Robbins Coder ‘67, died on Sunday, December 3,
2000 [Details in this newsletter] Sharolyn
E. Perry, mother of Robert Perry (1980) died December 16th in
Des Moines, Iowa. [Robert’s submission in this newsletter] REUNIONS:
Always check the website and
your respective grad year info section for the latest on reunion plans.
Class of 1985 has set the dates!
Stay tuned for Class of 1986 plans.
These two classes did not graduate while in-attendance their senior
years, but definitely Huskies through-and-through although they were
forced to graduate elsewhere. It’s wonderful to see the spirit alive. Afterall, these classmates spent 12+ years together before
being split-up (mostly between Rockville and Wheaton high schools).
Watch for other class reunion updates on the website and in the
newsletters! REUNION
COMMITTEES:
Reunions To Remember is a full service reunion planner.
Visit the company site (maintained by 1986 alumna Michelle Tully
Harrington) at www.class-reunions.com DONATIONS:
Thanks to those of you who remembered the MSO and recently sent
support in the form of “holiday gifts” for the Midnight Sun Online.
This 4-year-old project has received enough voluntary support from
you to continue through February 2001.
That’s only two more months.
Consideration of a donation, especially at this time, will assist
in being able to say we can continue for another year.
Can you help us make that happen? Also,
a reminder that MICHAEL GUSTAFSON signed lithographs of Jack Kent Cooke
Stadium and Camden Yards are available at a discount.
Proceeds of Peary Alumni sales will go to the Midnight Sun Online.
Details about the lithos, and general donation info, are available
on the MSO website. The
deadline for the next issue of the Midnight Sun Online is Saturday January
20. “Submit an Article”
or “Sign-Up/Update” on the MSO website to let your classmates know
what you’ve been up to. Have
a Happy New Year in the new millennium that begins 01/01/2001! Bob
