INTRODUCTION

Greetings Huskies:

WEDDINGS:  The MSO has had several alumni weddings during its 4-year existence.  Our second wedding, thanks to the online connection was Terri Cohea and Jeff Lindblad, both Class of 1971, who were wed in July (photos soon).  Congratulations!  Who knows what surprising news the MSO will encounter in the next four years?

CONGRATULATIONS:  Rick Waid’s (1970) screenplay won the Best Drama Award in the American Accolades screenwriting competitions recently.  There are currently several agents and a production company taking a look at the script!

THE PRACTICE:  See Lisa Talmud/Salsitz (1981) aka Allie Raye in the November 19th (scheduled as of this writing) episode of The Practice on ABC.  “Allie” recently read for Ally McBeal and Strong Medicine (Lifetime) -- “STAY TUNED!”  Photos with the cast of The Practice are posted online.

CONDOLENCES:  Unfortunately, there are several sad news items to report in this issue.  Additional information is available on the main page of the website.  We wish to extend our thoughts and prayers to the following families:

The Drennan Family... Marilyn Drennan Brus (1963) and Kathy Drennan (1966): Their father, Rev. Drennan, who served for many years as pastor of Millian Memorial Methodist Church passed away recently.

The Hunt Family.... Patty Hunt Cruzan (1972), John Hunt (1974), Angela (1978), and Tom (1979):  Their sister, Mary Hunt (1971), passed away on October 1, 2000 after a long illness.  Their mom, Elizabeth Hunt, as you may recall, was Peary’s school nurse.

The Banks Family.... the oldest daughter of Carol Banks Evans (1971), and niece of Bob Banks (1971) and Steve Banks (1970) was killed in a small plane crash in California on September 30, 2000.

The Alonzo Family.... Toni Alonzo Rubino’s (1968) father, Santino Alonzo, passed away the last week of September 2000.

The Catron Family.... Katrina Catron Holmes’ (1977) mother, Madeleine Paquette Catron, passed away September 23, 2000.  Mrs. Catron was able to spend time with her fraternal twin grandsons (Katrina’s - born in January) before her passing.

The Pfeiffer Family..... John Pfeiffer (1976) and Julie Pfeiffer’s (1977) father, Robert, passed away September 15, 2000.

The Finkle Family.... Scott Pransky, the husband of Lisa Finkle Pransky (1981), informed us that Lisa passed away on August 28, 2000.  She is survived by her husband and daughter Danielle.  Information on Donations in her memory are posted online.

The Libby Family.... Mike Libby (1975), Pat Libby (1977), Cindy Libby Saunders (1981), and Jackie Libby Fields (1984):  Their father, Richard, passed away on August 18, 2000.  One of the grandsons, Joey, created a web page in his memory (link online at website).  Annie Darragh Baker (1981) flew-in to offer her support to the Libbys.

The Schmidt Family.... John (1971), Tim (1974), Tom (1978), and David (1983):  Their father, William Schmidt Jr., passed away on July 28, 2000 from complications due to Parkinson’s Disease.

To all of our Peary Alumni Families, we offer our support and condolences.

CLASS OF 1976 and 1977 ALUMS:  Last call to update your mailing address (online form) to ensure that you will receive reunion information and tentative plans for a get-together in Las Vegas for a 25 and “25+1” celebration, spring 2002.  Travel and lodging discounts will be offered to ALL Peary alumni during this period.

PEARYGEAR REMINDER: PearyGear.com is available to supply all of your “Husky” needs for your alumni events from t-shirts to hats and mugs.  Proceeds help support the Alumni Association.  Those classes organizing reunions in 2001... now is the time to contact PearyGear to supply your “Peary-phernalia!”  This is also the time to order items for the upcoming holiday season.

DONATIONS:  THANK YOU for your recent financial support of the Midnight Sun Online!  The Midnight Sun Online is an alumni-supported project.  Now you can order MICHAEL GUSTAFSON signed lithographs of Jack Kent Cooke Stadium and Camden Yards... at a discount, AND assist the Midnight Sun Online!  The acclaimed photographer has agreed to set aside a portion of each Peary Alum sale of the remaining lithographs (approx. 100 JKK Stadium and 300 Camden Yards) towards the survival of the MSO.  These lithographs appreciate with time and are signed by Michael Gustafson.  Ordering information and previews of the lithos can be viewed on the main page of the MSO website.  Thank you to photographer Michael Gustafson, Bob Ibach (1966), and the Johns Byrne Company in Chicago for this tremendous discount offer to Peary grads, and for their support of the Midnight Sun Online!

However you choose to contribute, thank you for your consideration of donations to keep the MSO alive.  Details about donating are online at the website.  The Gustafson lithographs are wonderful for gift giving as the holiday season approaches.  Give a gift of a limited-edition item to friends and family AND assist the MSO at the same time.  Let’s gather-up these remaining 400 items!

The deadline for the next issue of the Midnight Sun Online is Saturday November 25.  “Submit an Article” or “Sign-Up/Update” on the MSO website to let your classmates know what you’ve been up to.
