of Butyric Acid and hold it behind one of the fans.
Judging by what ensued, Butyric Acid must be the main component in
the fragrance of vomit! That
cleared the whole laboratory in mere seconds. Mr.

[Boom!-Boom!] glad all over now that you’re mi-yi-yi-yi-yine.” The

found out about the website from Emily Mills, who told me about it ages
ago. Occupation: Artist/Store

note the article that I submitted. [Editor’s
Note: Daniel’s relatively
lengthy submission discusses issues as they apply to gay individuals’
experiences during, and following, Peary years.
The submission is not included here, and Daniel understands and
accepts the reasons MSO provided for its decision not to publish the
article in the alumni newsletter in this particular instance.

is considering making this section a permanent area if there is enough
support to justify it, e.g. organized alumni events specifically for our
Peary alternative community. Volunteers?] From:
Carol Cotton Hendrix <Carolphs64@home.com>
(1964) To
the Classes of 63, 64 & 65 (and any other 60s grads who are
interested): Many
of you have written to us to say that you thought our reunion was so much
fun that we ought to have something every year.
Obviously we can’t have a big reunion like we had last August
every year. But we’ve been
thinking about doing something a bit less formal so that those who are
interested can get together once each year.
I have been corresponding with Reid Roberts (Wheaton Class of 64)
and many of you may know him. Reid
said that a lot of the Wheaton folks who attended his last reunion thought
it would be great if we could have a combined Wheaton/Peary gathering some
time. So Reid and I have come
up with a tentative plan. Reid
owns a restaurant/sports bar in Mt. Airy (Memories Charcoal House) and he
could host an event there. Memories is located about ¼ mile from
Interstate 70 between Baltimore & Frederick.
We will not be sending out mailings or collecting money or
reservations for this. Instead,
anyone who might be interested in such a gathering of mid-60s
Wheaton/Peary grads can go to Reid’s restaurant website (www.MemoriesCharcoalHouse.com)
and let him know of your interest. Go
to the section called “contact us” and you can send an email to Reid
letting him know of your interest. Reid
will then build an email list and will send out messages about the details
as the plans progress. He
will also post updates on the section of the site called “upcoming
events” so you can go there to check on the plans. What
we are tentatively thinking about is the third weekend in April 2001
(weekend after Easter). That’s
before everyone gets busy with graduations and weddings in May and June
and before most folks are away on vacation.
The restaurant has a couple dining rooms and a bar.
People could mingle in the bar and if anyone wants to have dinner,
Reid could reserve one dining room for just our group and anyone who
wanted could go in there to order a meal.
Everyone would be responsible for their own tab and we wouldn’t
be collecting any money or reservations in advance.
We do need to know if any of you out there are even interested in
doing this so we have some idea of the number and whether it is worth our
while to pursue this. So let
me know what you think (carolphs64@home.com)
or let Reid know by contacting him through his site.
Reid will contact his Wheaton classmates and ask about their
interest. If enough of you
think this is a good idea we will go forward.
Now, since I am not going to be sending out any postal mailings
about this, please pass the word along to anyone you know who is not
registered on the MSO and doesn’t get the monthly newsletter.
This is ONLY going to be publicized via email, MSO newsletters and
word-of-mouth. We want to
keep this simple. I sure hope
that enough of you think this is a good idea and that we can all get
together again next spring. Reid
and I will be waiting to hear from you. From:
Eileen Brown Carter <ecarter236@aol.com>
(1965) Thanks
for posting reunion pictures on zing will try to get mine sent to you as
soon as I get my scanner up and working again having a little trouble. Candy I did not thank you enough, for your help in searching
out the people from my class, I sure did appreciate it. Carol we had a lot of fun at all the reunion meetings and
really got to know each other real well.
Gale your help was greatly appreciated and the friendships we
formed with all of us was a lot of fun.
As you can see since the reunion two more people have been found
from my class and I hope they keep on popping up.
Now on a serious note we all know that this site is operated solely
on the funds donated by us classes and I hope that the Class of 65 will
help even a little bit. So classmates lets see if we can put everybody
else to shame by making donations and have this site continue on.
Once again thank you Carol and Candy and Gale for everything
without you three our reunion would not been so much fun. ! Remember
everybody who attended the reunion Candy made all the little favors that
were on the tables. Gale did
all the decorating and coordinating.
I guess I have done enough for this issue.
Everybody stay well Eileen From:

Hahn (Drivers Ed and Golf Coach) - he was a good friend. From:
Ron Bostwick <ronsroom@flash.net>
(1977) The
state of Colorado is known for its fickle weather.
“If you don’t like the weather, wait a minute”
That statement couldn’t be more true this week.
Seven days ago, the area broke the record for the most days reading
90-degrees or higher in a summer (60).
Today a handful of Peary alumni got to enjoy (in the words of Ken
Thomas, ‘81) “snow crab.” Two
years ago, we suffered in the sun and heat of the 1st crab
feast. Last
year, we were protected from the sun by a large tent covering. This year the tent covering kept us protected from the rain
and yes, snow. Forecasters
are calling for up to 4 inches in the area by Sunday morning. Probably
not too many people can say they’ve cracked crabs during a snowfall.
We can. As
Steve Tobin (spent half a year at PHS in ‘66, would have been class of
‘69) noted, “It must be getting colder.
I couldn’t see my breath when I arrived.
Now I can!” But 16
Peary West students (along with some of Nikki Wantling’s friends) braved
the rain, snow and cold to keep a tradition going. Those
in attendance were: David
Miller ‘69, John Jones ‘71, Kay Coleman Smith ‘72, Denise LaBrec
Kepler ‘73, her sister Michelle LaBrec ‘83, Kathy Tobin Udy ‘73, her
brother Steve Tobin, Laurie Stahl ‘79, Bill Baltzell ‘80, Tina
Swanabori Fredo ‘80, Janet Peters ‘80, Ken Thomas ‘81, Ann Noble
‘86-Rockville HS, Ron Bostwick ‘77 and our gracious host, Nikki
Wantling ‘85-Wheaton HS. Perhaps
if we schedule a group snowshoe trip in February it will be sunny and
mild! Look for pictures from
the event on the website soon! From:
Carolyn Foote Johnson <Carolyn.Johnson@Dobson.net>
(1978) Another
little Johnson has entered the world.
I gave birth to another son on 9/8/00 @ Shady Grove Adventist
Hospital to Andrew Blake Johnson who weighed in at 7 lbs 15 ozs, was 20 ¾”
long and was born at 1258. It
was probably one of the quickest deliveries on record—was in active
labor for around 20 minutes and was actually laughing during the delivery.
That surely made up for the 19-hour labor I had with Alex! Carolyn
