Greetings, fellow alumni and how are you? Well things are going okay, I guess.  I’m busy working as hard as ever and in the fall I’m going back to school to finish my Computer Applications Degree and then go for my Web and Graphics Design Degree.

My daughter is attending private school and doing better than she did in public school, which is a relief.

Regarding the reunion for class of 83, I need to get in touch with Dee McIntyre.  I had her email address at one time but have since lost it.  Dee, if you see this, please contact me via email or page me at 800-573-0379.  I was hoping to get together and hash ideas for the reunion.

Anyway, that’s about it. I hope to hear from my fellow classmates and hope that each of you are doing well.

Bye for now!

Ok hope everyone is well and happy and having a good summer.  Just wanted to catch everyone up on the lost and founds.  Have Found Charles Balent he was listed with Classmates.com (he responded to email I sent him through Classmates).  Also Margaret Weber is listed with Classmates.

Nancy Hendershot is listed there also along with Heather Jones and Anthony Jones, plus Marjorie McIntire Shankel.  Carol Hoover has been found.  I also have found a new classmate didn’t even know she existed Sherry Hoagland Carroll.  There is a Tom Tuttle listed at the Planetalumni site for our class.  I have invited all these people to become a part of the Peary Site and I guess they are not interested in finding their friends and classmates.  You can send email to them, if it bounces you will be notified by Classmates, and then if they have an address for them they will send a post card hoping they will contact the original writer.  So far I am up to date on all addresses, phone numbers etc of all the classmates onsite and please if you change address, phone numbers, or email addresses please let me know.  Here’s wishing everyone a happy summer.  That is all for now everyone stay well

We are less than 2 months away from the big day.  You don’t want to miss it, so submit your questionnaire and payment as soon as possible.  The farther in advance we know how many people are planning to attend and the sooner we have your $30/person payment the better we can make your reunion experience.

For those of you who have already responded with your questionnaires, Thank you we certainly appreciate your cooperation.

Hope to hear from the rest of you sooner rather than later.

Thanks,

Sandy Bell Richards and the rest of the Reunion Committee

[Questionnaire may be downloaded from the Class of ‘85 Info Section]

Subject:  Benefit for John Lejnar (‘79)

John Lejnar, lead guitarist for REDLINE and Peary High School Class of 1979 graduate, has been a performing musician for over 20 years.  In early 2001, he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.  This is a terminal cancer, which has already spread to his liver.  John’s friends put on a benefit in April at the VFW Hall in Wheaton, MD.  It was a very successful and well-attended event.

REDLINE is now following-up with another benefit.  We are very fortunate to be joined in this effort by other notable bands such as the SANDRA DEAN Band, The CORE, TKO, and one of John’s bands from the past, TIGHT FIT.  It’s all going to happen at the MAGIC CUE in Germantown on Saturday, Sept 29th.  All the details are being posted on a special website made just for John’s benefit.  The URL is

http://hometown.aol.com/rockforjohn.  Please mark the date and check the site frequently.  In addition to 5 or more bands performing, many special events will be conducted during the benefit.  Regards/Tom

Subject:  Ken’s Update—July 2001

To the members of the “So Fine” Class of ‘69: How do you feel about an informal group “50th birthday party”  in October? I’m open to suggestions but am leaning towards meeting for dinner at a restaurant that’s easy for everyone to find (such as “Copeland’s on Rockville Pike). E-mail me at: kenroseman@earthlink.net if you have suggestions or comments.

Personal notes: I’ve got a few new pieces up on the “CD NOW” web site http://www.cdnow.com Go to the search bar, enter the name of the artist I’ve written about (“Shooglenifty,” “Old Blind Dogs,”  “Fairport Convention,” or “Steeleye Span) click on “go” and the piece should appear! Modern technology—it’s amazing!! I’m also still contributing to “SING OUT!” and “BIG WORLD.” I’ve just started working with “ON TAP,” a D.C. based entertainment/food/pub monthly newspaper. The next issue will be cover dated September. Live Shows:  Recently caught great shows by The Neville Brothers (Wolf Trap), The Eliza Carthy Band (2lst century English folk/pop-they wowed the crowd at “IOTA”—Arlington, VA) and LO’JO (fantastic band which blends middle eastern/Arabic and French pop styles—they played at the Kennedy Center’s Capitol Hill Millenium Stage).  Also had a great time at this year’s “Smithsonian Festival of American Folklife”—this year’s edition honored New York City and Bermuda—lots of great musicians including Andy Statman and Simon Shaheen. There was also a staging of “Amateur Night at the Apollo.” A tent on the “Mall” is not the same as New York’s legendary Apollo Theatre, but I think the festival audience still got a good taste of what the event really feels like.

As one gets older, there are more interactions with the medical profession—I recently underwent two awkward procedures—“Cystoscopy” and “Urodynamics.” I won’t describe those procedures here, but if any alumni reading this want to know what these procedures involve, feel free to e-mail me and I will describe them as best I can.

That’s about for this installment. Best wishes for a great summer to one and all!!-- Ken.

P.S.: I would like to encourage all alumni to send whatever contributions they can to help with M.S.O. expenses. Bob Lau is doing a great job as webmaster but he needs our financial help to keep this project going. For details on how to contribute, go to the M.S.O. web site—instructions are posted there.
