INTRODUCTION Greetings
Huskies: MEMORIAL
DAY:
Please visit the link provided by Anna Marie Leimbach Swanson
(1976) in this newsletter, and please REMEMBER what all of this is about
as you munch on those dogs and burgers. TONY
AWARDS:
Don’t forget to catch the 55th Annual TONY Awards on
CBS, Sunday June 3rd to see the result of Brad Oscar’s (1982)
Tony Award nomination for his role in “The Producers,” the Broadway
musical, hosted by fellow cast members Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane.
Good luck, Brad! REUNIONS:
Reunion info is available in your respective Class Information
Section online. Most classes
have an up-to-date “missing persons” list online—if you know where
any of these people are, let your class coordinator(s) know! CLASS
OF 1986:
Your reunion picnic is scheduled for Saturday, October 6th,
2001 at the Parklawn Group Picnic Area, 12724 Viers Mill Road, Rockville,
Maryland. Also, the Rockville
and Wheaton Classes of 1986 both have reunions scheduled for the weekend
of October 13th, so classmates may wish to keep that in mind
when making your travel plans. Information
about Wheaton’s reunion can be found on the Reunions to Remember website
(www.class-reunions.com) and
for more information about Rockville’s 1986 reunion, people should
contact Debra (Poole) Cornett at rockville86@yahoo.com. CLASS
OF 1985:
Mark your calendars for the weekend of September 21-23, 2001!
There’s a happy hour Friday night and a picnic on Sunday
afternoon and they’d love for everyone from the classes of ‘84 and
‘86 to join them for those events.
More details will be posted as the date gets near. CLASS
OF 1981:
The deadline for registering to attend your 20-year Reunion is JUNE 25,
2001. Invitations have been
mailed and will be your only notification.
If you did not receive your invitation, a copy of the notice is in
the Class of 1981 Info Section, including the form you need to mail in
with payment before the deadline! CLASSES
OF 1976 and 1977:
LAST CALL for updated mailing addresses of ‘76 and ‘77
classmates to send info about the tentative “25+1” and 25-year
get-together in Las Vegas, spring 2002.
If you’ve moved in the past four years and haven’t submitted an
update on MSO, please use the form to update your mailing address online.
Packages secured will be offered to ALL Peary alums who wish to
take advantage of the discounts for your family vacations, 2nd
honeymoons, general Husky rowdiness, etc. CLASS
OF 1975 “ANNUAL” REUNION INFO from Betty Lopez:
Hi Everyone! No, it
hasn’t been 5 years, just 1, but it’s time, once again, to get
together for a reunion. If
you were able to attend last year’s 25th celebration, you may
remember (or, if senior moments have taken over, you may not remember)
that we declared the first weekend in August, each year, as a time to get
together, especially for those of you who are local to Maryland. So,
here’s the scoop! Saturday, August 4th, 2001, we have
arranged to meet at the Gaithersburg Hilton on Perry Parkway, in, yes,
Gaithersburg! The best part:
IT’S FREE!! We’ll start
around 7pm and meet in the Martingale Lounge/Restaurant.
This is the same place that the “night before” event was held
last year. The lounge is
adjacent to the restaurant so dinner and drinks (alcoholic and
non-alcoholic) are available, at your expense, if you want them.
For those of you who would like them, rooms at the hotel run $79
per night. If we can get at
least a dozen reservations for rooms, they will block them for us.
(See all the details below) Since
reservations are not necessary for this shindig, you can show up last
minute without concern, HOWEVER, I sure would like to get an idea of how
many people will be attending. PLEASE
email me at boopenhaven@aol.com
or my new work email betty@senecacreek.org.
If I can assist you in making any arrangements, please let me know. Dress
is casual or spiffy, whatever you feel most comfortable in and feel free
to bring your spouse, date, significant other, friend, parents, someone
else’s spouse or significant other, etc.
BUT bringing small children, although we love ‘em, will probably
not be the best idea. Can’t
wait to see you all again! Let’s
have a blast! Betty

OF 1971:
Your 30-year reunion was held May 4-6, 2001.
Watch for photos online at the MSO website! CLASS
OF 1966:
Your “Early Bird Special” has passed!
You have just a month to send your payment for the last discounted
rate period. The price of
attending your reunion goes up to $110/person on July 1. MR.
HILL’S 75th BIRTHDAY: The
deadline has passed to send materials for Mr. Hill’s Memory Book to help
celebrate his birthday. The
book has been completed. Thank
you to Mrs. Hill and Gale Senseman Privette (1966) for organizing this
surprise. And, especially,
thanks to those of you who sent their letters and cards and photos to
compile this book which will be presented as a surprise to Mr. Hill in
June. DONATIONS:
Thank you to those who have inquired about Coach Burlas’s plan to
support the MSO project as a “benefactor” with a donation of $500 or
more. Information is
available on the MSO website for both benefactor donations and regular
donations. In addition, the sale of “Robert E. Peary Huskies”
polo/golf shirts with the husky logo will help support this project.
Check the website to order your shirts.
Thank you to the Class of 1971 for proposing this plan of shirt
sales. A portion of the
proceeds goes directly to supporting MSO operational costs. The
deadline for the next issue of the Midnight Sun Online is Saturday June
23. “Submit an Article”
or “Sign-Up/Update” on the MSO website to let your friends know what
you’ve been up to! Have
a Safe and Wonderful summer... and looking forward to, hopefully,
meeting-up with many of you who have let me know you’ll be visiting here
in the desert SW! Bob
