From:
Jim Ketchum <Jim_Ketchum@ssp.navy.mil>
(1974) I
found out about the website from my younger sister.
Occupation:
Program/Budget Analyst, Spouse: Linda, Children: Ashley 18, Elizabeth 18
(twins), Grandchildren: None Yet, Hopefully they can wait til they are
married Memorable
Incidents: No particular names, but it was always fun to see underclassmen
taped to the anchor in the senior court. Since
High School: I graduated from UMD in 1978.
Since then, I have been working the Strategic Systems Programs
(Navy TRIDENT program) for past 21 years. Future
Plans: Getting the kids through College Memorable
Teachers: Mr. Clarke and Mr. Boyd were characters.
Mini-skirts were in and Mr. Clarke usually selected the shortest
one to reach up for his Global Map. Mr.
Boyd for a whole year tried to flip a quarter to land on top of the wall
clock above the door. For our
class he wasn’t successful until near the end of the year.
Afterwards, he complained that it took him 5 minutes to earn that
quarter and why did he waste it. It’s
funny what you remember about High School. Other
alums I know about? Scott
LeMessurier (1974) moved to Florida. From:
Traci Evans Rowe <tevansrowe@aol.com>
(1982) I
found out about the website from a classmate.
Occupation:
Business Analyst (IT Industry), Spouse: Dwayne Since
High School: I lived in Atlanta, Georgia and then Glendale, California
before returning to the Washington area in 1992. Future
Plans: Travel and Children. Whichever
happens first. Memorable
Teachers: Mr. Hill - he the best math teacher I ever had.
Mr. Clark - he always had an enthusiastic classroom.
Mrs. Hale - She taught me basics of good communications. From:
Veronica Ann Rancont <vrancont@hotmail.com>
(1986/Wheaton) I
found out about the website from the mailer.
Occupation: Training and Memorable
Incidents: Brian Hardaway’s death four days before graduation, making
tons of great friends, my first kiss Since
High School: I’ve just ended another 4-year long relationship (now this
makes 3). I’ve been
involved in two accidents (one involving a Mack truck - totaled my car and
left me with a neck injury, the other with an 18-wheeler - I sped up to
avoid being hit, but he bumped me - car and body escaped injury).
Finally graduated from Maryland with a B.S. in Kinesiology, worked
with stroke and accident victims. Just
landed a dream job with Land Rover University.
Traveled a little bit around the country, but always homesick for
my Maryland. Lots of family
stuff. I became a volunteer
E.M.T. and Firefighter in 1997 (was inactive while finishing school).
My accident put my return to duty on hold, and delayed my training
for career firefighting. I
attempted the vigorous CPAT exam, and missed by 10 seconds.
I’m now volunteering in Howard County.
I also am a personal trainer and teach exercise classes in
Columbia. Future
Plans: Still looking for Mr. Right to make me happy and give me children,
but willing to wait a little longer (too many heartaches).
I enjoy working with my personal training clients, but would like
to get back into rehabilitation. Still
dreaming of writing a book. Still
suffering a shattered heart at the moment, so hopefully, by October I’ll
be healed and back in high spirits. Another
dream was to train for high-angle and technical rescue.
I am currently training to prepare for that venture.
Grad school might be in the future (after I pay off the loan for my
undergraduate degree). I
guess I’ll always be a student. Memorable
Teachers: Benny Green, of course, my wonderful music teacher and friend
since the sixth grade. I go
to see him every couple of years. Mrs.
Rosen, for her warmth and class. Other
alums I know about? I’ve
just sent e-mail to David Meadows’ sister. She’ll
give him the website information. Cathleen
(Jody Longcor) Tinsley is divorced and living in Alabama. I haven’t spoken to her in two years, and doubt you will be
able to find her. Tonja
Robinson is cousin to Theresa (I can’t remember her last name and
can’t find my yearbook). If
I remember her last name, I’ll send it.
Tami Stepper moved to North Carolina (but that was at least 13
years ago, lost touch, sorry). I’m
so very glad that Michelle and Charline are doing this.
I remember talking in a group (including Charline) about doing a
Peary Reunion, and am so happy that you are making it happen!
If you need help, please do not hesitate to contact me. To:
Nancy Sommers Hotze <nhotze@houston.rr.com>

(1976) I
learned about the MSO at one of the 1966 class reunions.
That is because my husband, Ray Highsmith, is a Pearyite also.
We have 2 sons-Daniel 19, and Michael 14; 4 cats (all girls); 2 new
Jack Russell puppies (both male); and 3 cars----lol!!!
After High school I went down the wild wrong road and quickly
became addicted to alcohol and drugs.
In 1981 I joined AA and have been sober ever since.
I’ve worked mostly at home raising my boys.
I’m presently looking for a new job after 3.5 years in retail.
I think a need a big break from retail!!! Back in August of ‘00 my family joined a church.
My boys were going through a tough situation with temptation and we
turned to an old friend who invited us to his church.
He just happened to be the youth minister also, which didn’t
hurt. So here I am 42 years
old, happily married, with 2 sons who are the pride and joy of my life,
with loving animals surrounding me and I’ve committed my life to Jesus
Christ.! I’ve
never been happier!!! It
would be great hearing from some of my former classmates or Pearyites, so
send me an e-mail! God Bless

(1966) Dear
BOB, I am
truly impressed by the fantastic job you did on compiling the information
on Mr. Hill from the newsletters of 4 ½ yrs on the MSO...I know it was a
lot of work ......Great job and you are definitely a man of your word.....
and one who gets the job done....no matter how big a task it is.
Me saying Thank you just doesn’t seem to be enough. I
printed all the pages out....and it looks great.
I’ll be working on putting it together in his memory book.
I wish you could see his book and read some of these wonderful
things that people have written to him in cards that they have snail
mailed and emailed me.. it really fills my heart.
What a wonderful man he is and HIS Love for the Lord really shines
through in his spirit.... I feel so honored to have been asked to help out
with his party. I’m sure
you share those exact feelings too. Jim
suggested to me calling the Gazette newspaper and see if they want to do
an article on him for their papers. I think that’s a great idea.
When I explained to them how wonderful this man is and how much he
has done for others and how loved he is.....I really think they’ll want
to publish something about him. I’ll let you know what happens. I got
to meet Mr. Hill’s son David yesterday when he dropped off cards to me
that he had received.... David is a police officer and just like his dad a
really nice man. The Hills
are also a very good-looking family! I
hope to now read all the things that people have written to him from the
teacher comments that you compiled. It
might take me several days from the looks of it.
What you wrote was so very nice also.
And your attached note.....Well, You just thought of everything!
:-) Again
BOB, many , many thanks for all your hard work and I know the Hills will
appreciate it as much as I do.. You
are the Best....really my friend. Be
Blessed | Back to the Newsletter Selections |
