is the Fourth Anniversary issue of the Midnight Sun Online newsletter! CONGRATULATIONS

Benjamin Chornock, 7 lbs., 5 oz., on 7/6/00.
Mother and baby doing well—Jonathan joins three sisters.
Lenny says, “Needed some added testosterone in the house! CONDOLENCES:
(From John Strong) We’re saddened to inform you that Tom Ditchey was
found comatose on May 31, 2000 and was removed from life support mid-June.

MOUNTAIN GROUP CRAB FEAST: See the information in this newsletter about the 3rd
Annual Get-together/Crab Feast being held in Longmont, CO on September 23rd!
Craving those Maryland crabs and don’t want to make the
2,000-mile trek? Then get
your RSVP in NOW and the shipped bushels will fill your plate with
all-you-can-eat blue crabs. REUNIONS:
All of this year’s reunion celebrations are complete! Photos from the events are linked on the website.
Classes of 1963-65 have posted photos from their joint event at
zing.com, a free “photo album” service found by Stan Battersby (1965)
-- All classes without a specific website of their own might wish to
consider this service that would free-up a lot of MSO resources (server
space, processing of images, etc.) and time.
Contact Stan at stan@positiveinput.com
or visit zing.com about its free service.
1970’s reunion photos are posted at www.peary70.org,
and we’re anticipating snapshots from the 1975 and 1980 celebrations. The
Classes of 1966, 1971, and 1981, PLUS tentative thoughts of a 1985-86
PEARY get-together/reunion is in-the-works for those who had to graduate
from Rockville or Wheaton (stay-tuned for plans about this).
All the latest info can be found on the MSO website. Class of 1966, mark your calendars now for the weekend of
August 17, 2001 (Gale comes-through, once again) for your 35th.
Class of 1971, keep an eye on your mailboxes for information.
Class of 1981, see the details in this issue about the planned
meeting in October to get the ball rolling! CLASSES
OF 1976 and 1977:
Watch your mailboxes for information on the proposed joint reunion
celebration in Las Vegas. Target time period for this event is now SPRING 2002.
This event will not preclude the classes from organizing a
one-night dinner/dance event in Rockville if the respective classes host
one, but can be an “and/or” celebration just to extend the celebration
to an adventure out west, as the majority of those respondents online have
indicated an interest in combining this tentative “reunion” event into
a family vacation (and have an excuse not to have to return to work Monday
morning). The mailing will
poll your interest for this possible joint celebration/trip. 72% of online respondents from 1976 and 1977 have indicated
an interest in this. There
has been interest from classmates of other graduating years too. PLEASE
be sure the MSO has your current mailing address, 1976 and 1977 grads.
Essie Granzow Ruppert (1969) has volunteered with assistance in
this endeavor, which includes the mailing—let’s not waste stamps!
A special link will placed in the 1976 and 1977 Class Information
Sections online soon, specifically for updating your mailing address
(only—so you don’t have to go through the entire “full” update,
unless you want to).... or simply provide/confirm your postal address
directly to me at blau@clark.net.
When the mailing is close to going out, you will also have the
option to complete the poll online as well (saves another stamp and lots
of time). Additionally, the
package discounts will be open to ALL Peary alumni who wish to consider a
family vacation to the Southwest at this time. THANK-YOU:
The MSO wishes to send a special thank-you to the Classes of 1963, 1964,
and 1965 who recently held a successful joint reunion, and conducted a
50-50 raffle on the Midnight Sun Online’s behalf that resulted in a
donation to MSO that will assist in maintaining this 4-year-old project.
MSO relies solely on voluntary donations to cover its operating
costs, and has received support from approximately 12% of our almost-3,000
classmates listed online. Special
thanks goes to the joint reunion organizers, Candy Beck Burch (1964,
representing 1963), Carol Cotton Hendrix (1964), Eileen Brown Carter
(1965), and Gale Senseman Privette (1966, assisting).
Also thank you to Patti Muth Sterquell (1964) for sponsoring a www.pearyhs.org
ad in the 1963-65 reunion’s memory book! “PEARY-Phernalia”
WEBSITE REMINDER: PearyGear.com is now up and
running if you wish to purchase Peary High School items or offer at your
class-specific events. The
proceeds are used in conjunction with Alumni Association community
activities. Also see the

will also go to support the Alumni Association! The
deadline for the next issue of the Midnight Sun Online is Saturday
September 23. Click on
“Submit an Article” or “Sign-Up/Update” at the website to let your
classmates know what you’ve been up to! The
Midnight Sun Online project is proud be celebrating its fourth anniversary
with this newsletter, and has appreciated your participation and support
while we’ve seen the list of alumni grow 11,428% (literally) from its
