From:
Luanne Murphy Houck <lhouck@sherikon.com>
(1983) I found out about the website through a web search. Occupation: Memorable
Incidents: Being part of Peary’s Pom Pon squad will always be what I
remember most about high school. I
loved the performances and competitions. I also have fond memories of the
Senior Trip to Daytona. Since
High School: I’ve been working full-time at SHERIKON for the last 10
years. It’s a wonderful job with a great company.
Rory and I have been raising two fantastic children and are
expecting our third in April. Future
Plans: I am working on my MBA and will continue working for SHERIKON.
I also want to become more active at Twin Ridge where our children
go to school and at St. Peter’s in Libertytown where we go to church. Memorable
Teacher: Mr. Clarke will always be my favorite teacher because he made
learning fun and really cared about us. From:
Margaret “Peg” Anderson <Crf_andersml@curf.edu>
(to 5/6/00) (1967) I
found out about the website from my sister Kathy Anderson Folkes.
Occupation:
Lutheran Teacher/ Deaconess (5/6/00) Memorable
Incidents: I remember our production of “OF THEE I SING” in 1964 and
all the great times singing with Miss Bauer and Mr. Phillips. Since
High School: I was a teacher and church musician in Lutheran churches and
schools (NY, IL, MI, OH) for 26 years. I received my M.A.T.
from Saginaw Valley State University in Michigan (1983), and in
addition to classroom work, I produced school musicals, played church
services and large festivals, and did developmental placement testing (Gesell)
for a number of years. Future
Plans: I am currently enrolled at Concordia University in River Forest,
IL, (my undergrad alma mater) and will graduate as a Lutheran Deaconess
(LC-MS) with a Master of Arts in Religion degree this May.
Next year, I will be a CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education) Resident
at a large hospital in Des Moines, IA. When I compete that year and pass
my board exam, I plan to serve the Church as a Lutheran hospital chaplain,
somewhere in the United States. Memorable
Teachers: I remember, with great respect, Vincent Gibbs, Carol Bauer, and
Larry Phillips. I
learned everything I know about producing musicals from Mr. Gibbs, and I
owe my life-long conducting career to Mr. Phillips and our now sainted
Carol Bauer. They represented the finest in education. I was proud to be
their student. From:
Janet Heintzelman Robertson <jmr0611@aol.com>
(1977) I got
the website information from my brother (Mark Heintzelman, ‘71) Since
High School: I’ve been working for the Defense Mapping Agency (now
National Imagery & Mapping Agency) in different organizations.
Lived in Germantown, Mt. Airy, and now back in Germantown. Future
Plans: Planning on moving up to the Boston area this June (2000). Since
I’m moving up to the Boston area, is there anyone else up there from our
class? From:
Dr. Patricia Ferguson <PFergu5896@aol.com>
91971) Family:
Husband, Ron, systems analyst for Indian Health. My occupation(s): parent,
psychologist, writer, and artist. Children, Nicole, 18 in two weeks,
graduates class of 2000, and Elliot, 11, first year junior high school. Since
high school: Only attended
Peary freshman year, no one may even remember me.
Graduated from Rockville High. Attended Montgomery College for one
semester, worked at Vitro for short period, various other jobs, then
claims adjuster for State Farm for 2 ½ years. Moved to California, lived
at South Lake Tahoe for 8 years, attending college, skiing, hiking, etc.,
worked as blackjack and roulette dealer.
After first child was born, we moved to San Diego, where I obtained
my Bachelors in Psychology. Then moved to Florida, where I earned my doctorate and had
Elliot via planned homebirth. When
finished with school, moved back to California, and live in semi-rural
foothills 3 hours north of Sacramento.
Plan to retire to San Diego when children graduate high school. I
am currently on disability due to two falls, so I am writing (have a
publication in May in England coming out), and painting (sold three
paintings, and never have taken an art class). Memorable
incidents: Teacher’s strike, dancing at lunch time, some good times,
some bad times. Same thing at
Rockville High. Went to
reunion and found it hard to think of anything to say to people I hadn’t
seen in 20 or 25 years, many of whom I couldn’t remember.
I do remember at Wood Jr High Debbie Kennedy and I had written
copious notes which our geography teacher hung all around the blackboard.
Very embarrassing. Other
alums I’d like to know about: Viki
MacDoul (sp?), Cathy Sabin, Debbie Kennedy.
Debbie and I went to each other weddings and haven’t seen each
other since. Saw Mike Hines post—went to Florida with him and large
group after high school, too much drinking! He mentioned Rick Beadel, with
whom I shared an apt with after high school with a weird guy and my
girlfriend. Hope Rick is
doing okay. Things ended on a
weird note, but I hope it was all because we were young.
My life is much improved since those days! From:
Joe Saltarelli <saltarellijk@c-b.com>
(1971) I
found out about the website from my sister Margaret (‘69).
Occupation:
Mechanical engineer, Spouse: Mary (Churchill ‘70) Memorable
Incidents: Mr. Gibbs’ Drama Club productions, getting in trouble with
the Student Workshop, and quite a few other activities that typing here
would be a waste of time because I seriously doubt that they would be
published. Since
High School: After graduating from the U. of MD. in 1975, I’ve been in
the engineering and construction business for 25 years. Future
Plans: Winning the Texas state lottery, retiring, and then learning how to
type so that filling out these things doesn’t take so long. Memorable
Teachers: Mr. Gibbs, because he absolutely demanded that you did the best
you could. I remember during the productions of JB, Oliver!, Billy Budd,
Man of LaMancha, and Mame a few of us wanted to strangle him, but after it
was all over we were very proud of what we accomplished. Literature and
drama were not my strengths and I learned so much from him. Thank you Mr.
Gibbs. My homeroom teacher during my senior year whose name escapes me
right now, but she was so nice and so damn good looking. My only regret is
that I couldn’t find the courage to ask her to marry me. I’m sure she
would have said yes. From:
Carla Frazier Maddock <Carlamad@aol.com>
(1986) I
graduated from Seneca Valley H.S. and found out about the website while
looking for an old class mate through the MCPS web site.
Occupation:
Book keeper/Mother of 5, Spouse: Bill, Children: Elizabeth Memorable
Incidents: PIPE BAND and many Wed. night and Saturday morning practices.
At our annual picnic I received the best t.v. and radio reception award.
I had to ware head gear to practice! Since
High School: I have moved and been very busy raising my children. I
have been married for six and half years and am very happy. Memorable
Teacher: Mr. Clark. He was
always patient. From:
Richard K. Lewis <richard.lewis@jsc.nasa.gov>
(1963) Just
a note to let you know of a new website that describes a museum that my
wife and I started a few years ago. It
just took us a while (like 7 years) to get it on the web.
After all it is an 1898 one-room schoolhouse museum and therefore
not very modern by today’s standards.
Please check it out at the following URL. It has won a state and national award for the program that we
run in it, so we are understandably proud.
We run approx. 7000 children and adults through that one room each
year. They come on field
trips from elementary schools throughout Houston (TX).
We are located in the historic district of a small town midway
between Houston and Galveston. That
is .ORG, not .COM remember. Thanks....

(1971) Giambusso’s
Free Limited Offer Thanks
to Ed Burlas and Dwayne Black, Peary had some fine wrestling teams. There
were great naturals like Mike Forst, Bill Stem and Tom Fitts.
Animals like Steve Werts and Kevin Cannon, and punching bags like
Brian Baker and the Marble Brothers. (Just kidding Jack) But there was one
man, one hamburger stuffin’ Heavyweight, that even the Giant Fat Boys
feared. He was feared by
heavyweight and hot dog alike. The
Mighty Busso helped the ‘71 grapplers win the Dual Meet Title that year.
Although going into the county tournaments as Top Seed, he was
awarded the Golden Fish award for flopping on his back and suffering the
first and only defeat of his career.
Sadly the the Busso wasn’t so mighty anymore.
He retired from the mat. At one point the Busso made a short
comeback in a karate school but unfortunately tore a hamstring and that
was that. After several job
placement tests and years of training on the streets, He has come back to
pin you to the walls, only this time with loud music. That’s
right folks after almost 30 years the Mighty Busso has risen his ugly
head. This
time with a new CD of original music, appropriately entitled: The Mighty
Busso Band & Show. You’ll
like it! There’s something
for everyone in a big fat groove. There
are elements of ska, reggae, funk, fusion, bebop, pop and not so smooth
jazz. As a matter of fact the
esteemed saxophonist on the CD called it “Lumpy Jazz”.
There are 10 instrumentals by a smoking 8 piece band mixed with 3
eclectic vocal tunes in the tradition of Frank Zappa. To
celebrate this debut, I am offering a free copy of MB’s CD for the first
100 E-mails from Peary graduates I receive.
Just send an address and say hi. Visit
my web page at www.giambusso.com
and you can see the frightening remains of a jock gone bad and other neat
stuff. This is all shameless
self promotion but if I don’t give it away nobody will hear it, and
trust me, this is worth listening to. Thanks

up, but a few of us did down a few bottles of miniatures in Mr. Benson’s
auto class from time to time. Since

Debby Carey Brogan <dbrogan@cvn.net> I
have been out of touch for the past few months due to my husband’s
illness. Bob passed away on Jan. 27th from complications of
renal failure. We were all by
his side when he joined the Lord and we were glad that he didn’t have to
suffer any longer. We had his
memorial service yesterday and the children and I are trying to keep
things together with our faith in God and love for each other.
Through all of this we have all become much closer.
I want to thank you and all my friends for all the prayers and good
wishes that I received. I want them to know that I am sorry that I didn’t have the
time to answer all my messages, but no one was ever far from my thoughts. My
brother’s (Alan Carey, 1969) son, Mark, (6 yrs) is doing as well as
expected. He had a bone
marrow transplant on Monday and is so far only showing the predicted side
affects. The doctor’s are
very confident with his progress. His sister, Jessie, was a perfect match. Mark will be in Hershey Hospital for the next 4-6 weeks in
isolation. Please keep him in
your prayers. You
may place this notice in the newsletter with my thanks for the friendship
and caring that has been shown to me and my children.
