INTRODUCTION

OUR LOSSES: Dr. William F. Brennan, age 73, and Peary's second
prinicpal (from 1975-1979), passed away on Sunday October 10, 1999 after
many years of battling lung cancer. Brian Brennan (1983), nephew of Dr.
Brennan, has provided information in this newsletter. A full obituary
will be placed on the website shortly.

From Marjorie Boswer Hewitt (1978) and Bryant Brooks, we're saddened to
inform you that Chuck Bowser, Class of 1974, died of lung cancer on July
27th. He is survived by siblings and Peary classmates Robert, Patrick,
Marjorie, William, Gregory, and Catherine Mabry.

On Sunday October 10, Mr. Scuderi, father of 10 Peary Alumni: Karen,
John, Jerry, Ann, Janet, Chris, Connie, Toni, Mark, and Chip, passed
away from an aneurysm.

PRAYERS: From Debby Carey Brogan (1966)... "Alan Scott Carey, Class of
1969, needs prayer for his son, Mark Austin. At the tender age of five,
he has been diagnosed with leukemia. He is currently in Hershey
Hospital; Hershey, PA, and will soon undergo bone marrow transplant. We
praise God that Mark's sister, Jessica, was a perfect match. Your
prayers for healing are needed and very appreciated. My husband, Bob
Brogan, is also very ill with liver disease and I am requesting prayers
for healing and strength for me and my children. We have been going
through quite an ordeal with this illness and we appreciate your caring
and kindness." Alan may be reached at dcdist@sub-link.com. Debby may be
reached at dbrogan@mail.cvn.net.

— The Robert E. Peary High School Community and the Midnight Sun Online
wish to express prayer and condolences to the families who are
experiencing these difficult times. —

WEDDING BELLS: George Powell (1983) will be married on December 18th
at the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Congratulations to Dave Rush (1971)
who was married on October 16th, to Melissa Davis Munson (1982) who
tied-the-knot in June, and to Jean Lejnar McCormick (1979) and Robert
Perry (1980) who each married this month (note, not to each other)!

SIGHTINGS: Victoria Oscar (1985) is on a national tour of Annie as Miss
Hannigan, scheduled to appear at the Warner Theatre in Washington DC
November 30 through December 5. The show is also scheduled at the Lyric
Theatre in Baltimore in June 2000, Reno NV March 24-26 2000 at the
Pioneer Center, and Tucson AZ March 3-5 2000 at the University of AZ.
Watch for the production coming to your town!

Paula Marshall (1982) continues her starring role on ABC's "Snoops" with
Gena Gershon, which airs on Sunday nights. Allie Raye aka Lisa
Salsitz/Talmud (1981) recently completed national print ad. Bob Lau
(1976, yours truly) landed a role as the neighbor/lawyer-type of the
co-star (Guy Torry) in a new Warner Brothers TV series that airs on UPN
on Tuesday nights, "The Strip." Also starring Sean Patrick Flanery
(Young Indiana Jones) and Joe Viterelli (State of Grace), my first
appearance and the episode's working title is "We Will Rock You" — will
keep you posted of the airdate (I can't seem to get away from these
Homicide: Life on the Streets "comic relief" type characters... on
either coast). The network series is produced by Joel Silver (The
Matrix, Die Hard I and II, Analyze This, and the Lethal Weapon series).

Did you happen to catch Dave Spurlock (1966), one of the original
bagpipers, and his wife, Carol, at the Maryland Renaissance Festival in
Crownsville?

REUNIONS: Class reunions in 1999 have been successes! There's a report
from Ken Roseman in this issue about this year's last event, the Class
of 1969's 30th on October 15th. We look forward to some photos soon,
too! The Class of 1979 photos are accessible online now, but we still
need to get around to posting the snapshots from the Class of 1974
reunion that we received.... soon... along with Ron Bostwick's (1977)
Fourth of July wild weekend "wrap" adventure in Colorado with other
alums and "Ms. Felicity Shagwell" (see the September 1999 issue).
Planning continues for the joint 1963-65 reunion and 1980 reunion in
2000 — see updates from Eileen Brown Carter and Mary Hight (Classes of
1965) about the 63-65 event in August.... and the Classes of 1970 and
1975 have begun planning their 30th and 25th, respectively, as well!

OCEAN CITY, MD: Melina Mahassel Bates (1985) and her husband are
relocating to Ocean City very shortly — and may still be looking for a
rental, even if for short-term. If you can help, e-mail Malina at
meenie@webtv.net or ocdiva@webtv.net. Plus, Melina suggests an alumni
event sometime on the Eastern shore/beach next year — let's keep that
in-mind!
