Subject: Update
I found out about the website from Connie Scuderi
Gallerizzo.
Occupation: Mom, Admin. Assistant, Spouse: Frank,
Children: Ashley - 18, Brian - 15
Memorable Incidents: The joy, hard work, fun, unity,
and pride of being
on the pom squad senior year! Mr. Gibbs' English and
Humanities
classes. In general, the lessons of life learned in those
years!
Since High School: Married May of '79 to a wonderful
man from the
Pittsburg area. I have two children. Ashley, a freshman
in college
and Brian, a sophomore in high shcool. They are and have
been, without
a doubt, my greatest source of pleasure, pride and
pain!!! Volunteer
work in our kids' schools and our church. Such
volunteering includes
just about everything from being room mom to leading a
weekend retreat
for teens and their parents on human sexuality. Presently
I'm working
full time, for the first time in 18 years, as an
administrative
assistant in Rockville.
Future Plans: To continue working until our children
are through
college. Retire. Then do with my husband all those things
we said we
would do, someday!
Memorable Teachers: Mr. Gibbs, he made me think beyond
the realms of
high school. Mr. Thomas, for the support and pride he
felt in his poms!
Plus, I'm now friends with one of his daughters! (Small
world!) Mr.
Imhoff, his class was such fun and he tried so hard to
help me
understand something I just couldn't!

Subject: 1969 Reunion
RPHS Class of '69 30th reunion: The "so
fine" class of '69 celebrated
its 30th reunion at the "Doubletree Hotel" in
Rockville on October 15.
Over 50 class-mates attended and everyone had a great
time relaxing and
talking with old (and new) friends. What was remarkable
was that most
of the people present had not been at the 25th reunion,
so the group was
almost completely different this time around. We were
pleased to have
Marti Dillon (RPHS '78), a pipe band alumna, perform
during our brief
memorial service. In full regalia, Ms. Dillon played
"Amazing Grace" and
then class president Andy Johnston read the names of
deceased
class-mates. After that, Ms. Dillon played our alma mater
song. Very
appropriate. On a lighter note, "the one and only
currently active
Robert E. Peary High School cheerleader" popped up
to award prizes
(navy blue t-shirts with "Peary Huskies" on the
front and "so fine 69"
on the back) for the several contest winners. Robert
Blasco, who came
all the way from Juneau, Alaska was the hands down winner
for "travelled
furthest" (male). Suzanne Mazzelli (Weinberg),
presently living in Del
Mar, California got the nod for "travelled
furthest" (female).
Grandparents Andy Johnston and Kathleen Everett and Julio
Gonzalez also
received prizes. Another t-shirt went to Patricia Newman
who received
the consensus vote for "least changed" from her
assembled class-mates.
I would like to thank Wilma Houser ('69), David Alde
('69), Jeff Stewart
('69), Marti Dillon and Diane Bonnano (RPHS '71) for
their help in
making this reunion a really special event. I'm also
pleased to report
that Mr. Burlas visited our reunion; he was in great
spirits and
enjoyed reconnecting with former students.
Building Tour: I'm proud to announce that the
"class of '69" was the
first class to be officially invited by "The Hebrew
Academy" to tour our
old building. On Sunday, October 17, Mike O'Neill, Thelma
Husband
(Glowacki), Nancy Geiglein (Brice), Jean Salzano
(Scafidi), myself, and
two pipe band alumnae Marti Dillon (see above) and Lisa
Frazier (RPHS
'77 presently director of the "Rockville High
School Pipe Band") got
a good walk-through led by fellow '69 class-mate David
Alde. We were
there for around two hours and got to see everything. I
was really
impressed by the auditorium, which was built several
years after the
class of '69 graduated. A real first class facility.
Overall, the
building looks really good, "The Hebrew
Academy" has done a great
renovation job. (Watch the web site for reunion and
building tour
photos.)
Class-mates who did not attend our 30th reunion should
set aside June
16-18, 2000 now. That weekend will see the "Peary
Community Homecoming
2000," a three day festival for RPHS alumni and
staff. Several members
of the "class of '69" are involved in planning
this event: Terry Brooks,
David Alde, Marc Gottleib, and myself and it would be
great to see a
good turn-out from our class.
On a different note, there will be a way cool
Hallowe'en party this year
featuring "The Towering Bouffants at
"Lewie's" in Bethesda . (6845 Reed
St.) Tel.: (301)-652-1600. Be there!!
And finally, anyone interested in "world
music" should check out
"MUSICHound World" (Visible Ink Press). The
book's just been published
and yours truly contributed around 30 entries to it!
