Subject: My E-mail Address
Well, this is indeed a treat! I have finally joined
the technological
age of the late 20th century and have recently purchased
the computer at
which I am now seated sending you this message. It
sometimes takes us
"oldtimers" a little more time but some of us
do get there. I knew of
the existence of the Peary site (and it is fantastic) but
just got its
address (is that the right terminology? I have so much to
learn!)
Of course, as many people have been telling me for
years, it has opened
a whole new world of learning. Never forget, you young
pups, that
learning never ceases; in fact, the older you get, the
more learning you
have to do. (How's that for the infernal
"teacher" in me?)
Anyway, I wanted to get in touch with you so that you
could add my
e-mail address to your apparently already huge list.
Speaking of your
list: maybe you can help be locate John Ellinger (Class
date eludes me)
who was a soccer player at Peary and is now the National
Coach (!) of
the U.S. 17-Under Team. I sent an e-mail to the U.S.
Soccer Federation
but they haven't ever responded. Sooo, I'll try your
resources.
I've lost touch with so many Peary folks (students,
faculty, etc.) and,
in some cases, would love to be able to reestablish
contact. Not
wanting to take up a lot of your time on this occasion,
I'll sign off
for now. I'd love to hear from you! (Now the problem: how
do I address
myself? Mr. Pine? Coach Pine? [other often heard but
unmentionable forms
of address], or just Bob? Hope the latter! :-) Bob

I found out about the website from Polaris 1997 - 25
year reunion.
Occupation: Sr. Business Consultant / Fannie Mae, Spouse:
Judith Ann
Dale, Children: Nathan T. Dickey / 18 yrs.
Memorable Incidents: This is not an incident, however
is a positive
recollection... V. Gibbs, his commitment to education, to
facilitating
learning, all kinds, am thankful for the time I spent in
his class. Of
course I recall special memories of my friend Diana Ray,
and fun times
with (where is she now) Sally Carragher and friends....
Since High School: Being a parent (great
joy)...raising my son Nathan
(reason for great joy)...my relationship with Judy (more
joy). Nathan
is attending Wake Forest Univ., is a freshman this year
(1999), and so
far is having a great time...dad is not enjoying the
empty room nearly
as much. Judy and I were married about a year and a half
ago. We are
enjoying our marriage, she is a great friend.
College, work, parenting, doing my best to stay in
touch with Mark
Hanson, wondering whatever happened to Sally C...and now
that Nathan
(son) is off to college, I am preparing to return to
graduate school...
is time (to discover something new) to have some serious
fun.
Future Plans: Develop as many meaningful
friendships/relationships as
possible, stay close to family, be there for my son, and
for those whom
I have the opportunity to get to know.
Hello Diana Heverly...Blessings to you Gary and your
family...sounds
like you guys have your hands full.

Subject: Greetings!
Well hello everyone! I have been up to too much since
graduation. I
graduated from St. Mary's College in 1987 and had various
jobs which
moved me from VA Beach to Rochester NY and then back
here...I just
couldn't stay away! Six years ago I met the love of my
life, my best
friend and soulmate and we were married in 1996. We
purchased our home
in Poolesville, Maryland. We really enjoy the small town
here.
On June 4, 1998 we were blessed with the birth of our
first son Matthew
John Coughlin. He is truly amazing and he has really
filled our lives
with a true joy that nothing will ever surpass. Everyday
brings about
new adventures and a lot of laughter! I am fortunate
enough to stay at
home with Matthew as I have just started a small business
entitled Icing
Images. The business is really neat. I take pictures of
people and
turn them in to edible images so that you can put them on
cakes and eat
them! I don't bake, I just make the decorations. Check
out my website
and let me know what you think at www.icingimages.com.
Not much more to say. I would love hearing from some
of my old
classmates. I am still in touch with my favorite of all
time teachers
Mrs. Hale who now lives in Florida and my best friend
from Peary Debbi
Headlee Henson who also is in Florida (needless to say we
have plenty of
places to stay when we visit down south!) Take care!

Subject: CLASS OF '69 30th REUNION
Our gala 30th reunion for the "so fine"
class of '69 is now only a few
weeks away! Everyone should have received material from
"The Reunion
Company" by now; send in those reservations today!
In addition to the main party on Friday night, October
15, we are
looking into the possibility of a building/grounds tour
for Saturday
afternoon. There is also the possibility of informal
activties for
Saturday night, depending on individual preferences.
A reminder for those attending the reunion: if you are
bringing
memorabilia items and/or photos, please arrive as early
as you can so
we'll have time to set up the memorabilia table and photo
board. (Thanks
to Keith Gordon for sending photocopies of the last
"Midnight Sun" from
our senior year-- that issue contains our "Senior
Superlatives" and
"Senior Wills" along with other fascinating
items.)
See you all on October 15!!
Personal update: The official publication date for
"MUSICHound World"
(Visible Ink Press) is now October 15. This will be a
great reference
source for anyone interested in contemporary
folk/roots/ethnic music
from around the world. Most of the book will consist of
performer bios,
organized in alphabetical order. There will also be a
section of
compilation CD reviews. The most exciting aspect of the
project for me
was writing about performers from many foreign countries
including
Israel, Denmark, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Finland,
England, Scotland,
and Canada. I feel like a real global citizen now!
I just attended the annual "CMJ Music
Marathon," an annual music
business convention held in New York and organized by the
magazine
"College Media Journal." Since I had last
attended the convention
several years ago, the event had changed significantly--
the exhibition
hall was filled with booths from internet oriented
businesses and the
musical focus was much more on rap and
"hip-hop." But there were some
folk/ "roots" performers featured among the
showcase acts. I
particularly enjoyed the wild Swedish folk-rock band
Garmarna and
versatile Texas singer-songwriter Tish Hinojosa. Also got
to a catch a
rousing concert by English folk-punker Billy Bragg and
his new band "The
Blokes" at "Town Hall." Inspirational!
I am proud to say that my nephew Sam Bieber has just
entered ninth
grade, beginning his high school career, and my niece
Elizabeth Bieber
has just started middle school.
That's it for this installment. Reunion report next
time!
