INTRODUCTION Greetings
Huskies: CONGRATULATIONS
to Jeff Lindblad and Terry Cohea, both Class of 1971, who were married at
the Eastern Shore, July 15th.
Terri and Jeff rekindled their relationship through the MSO after
30 years and more than 1,000 miles of separation via glowing computer
screens! There were nine 1971
Peary grads in attendance (including the bride and groom).
Of those 9, there were 3 married couples.
Some photos will be posted soon. REUNIONS:
The latest info can be found on the MSO website.
Classes of 1963-65 joint celebration begins August 11 (3-days of
activity), Class of 1970 July 28-30 (this coming weekend!), Class of 1975
August 5, and 1980 August 19-20. Get
your reservations in and check the “missing persons” lists online.
Specific class deadlines and discount dates are quickly
approaching. The
Robert E. Peary Class of 1970 would like to extend an invitation to ALL
Peary Faculty and Alumni to attend their 30th Reunion
activities July 28-30th. See
the Class of 1970 Information Section on the website for the details or
visit 1970’s site at www.peary70.org,
maintained by Steve Banks. Faculty
and Staff invitations have been e-mailed directly. The
Class of 1966 plans for its 35-Year Reunion is set.
Your reunion will be held the weekend of August 17, 2001. Mark your calendars now, and read the details from Gale
Senseman Privette in this issue. Note:
For those who complain every five or ten years about the price of your
reunion, keep in-mind that the handful people organizing some of these
class events are sometimes stuck with shelling-out from their own pockets
to ensure an event will be fun for all.
Costs of reunion activities are dictated by the facilities that can
handle such events. Thank
you, from all class reunion-organizing committees, for your understanding. CLASSES
OF 1976 and 1977:
Stay tuned for more details
of the possible joint reunion in 2001 or 2002.
A mailed survey may be distributed shortly to get your opinion and
announce the possible options, such as the optional packages you inquired
about, such as Los Angeles, cruises, and the Grand Canyon for family
side-trips. Thank you to Essie Granzow Rupertus (1969) for arranging all
of the proposed packages to-date, and for offering the mailing and a
deposit to hold the rooms. Although
the class of 1976 reunion committee members are not fond of holding a
joint reunion with Class of 1977 in Las Vegas (instead, have a one-night
dinner/dance in Rockville, it has agreed to a mailed survey for more of a
sampling of the opinions. Online
votes collected indicate a 75% “yea” vote from members of both
classes. In addition, the
package discounts will be opened-up to ALL Peary alumni who simply want to
consider a family vacation to the Southwest US. BIRTHDAY
CLUB:
Laura Vandevender Collins has recently updated all of the Alumni Birthday
pages. Thanks, Laura! If your birthday isn’t listed and you’d like it to be,
visit the Birthday Club section on the website. “PEARY-Phernalia”
WEBSITE: PearyGear.com is now up and running if you wish to purchase Peary
High School items. APOLOGIES
to Mark Koepke (1974) whose name I mangled in the June issue of MSO. (I should know better after attending MCPS with siblings Jane
and John since Wheaton Woods!) The
deadline for the next issue of the Midnight Sun Online is Saturday August
26. Click on “Submit an
Article” or “Sign-Up/Update” at the website to let your classmates
know what you’ve been up to! All
of this year’s respective-class reunion activities will take place
before the next issue of the MSO newsletter, so BE THERE and have a
wonderful time! Hopefully
there will be many photos as well, which can be e-mailed or snail-mailed
to MSO for posting online. Next
month will celebrate the 4th Anniversary issue of the MSO
newsletter. If you didn’t
receive an invitation to your reunion, could it be you haven’t submitted
an online update recently with the contact information your class needs to
send it to you?? Just click
on the Sign-Up/Update link at the website!
Staff too. Bob
Lau, Editor/Webmaster All
