I found out about the website from Liz Popick Jenkins. 

Occupation: wife and mother, Spouse: David, Children: our son, Jesse, age 6

Since High School: I worked in the health and fitness field for many years before becoming involved in the beauty business. I was an account executive for a hair care company and then for Estee Lauder cosmetics and Fragrances. My hobbies included horseback riding, showing and jumping horses and I met my husband through mutual friends in the horse business.

Future Plans: Taking care of my family is my first priority; I would like to get a part-time job while my son is in school, possibly in a bookstore. We will also be spending a good amount of time at our Juno Beach residence. We enjoy the beach there, also the marine life center and the wildlife sanctuary.

Memorable Teacher: I remember Mr. Thomas the most; he always seemed to really enjoy teaching.

Subject:  Rocky Mountain Crab Feast

The Peary High West group in Colorado announces its 3^rd Annual Maryland Crab Feast!  Keep the date of Saturday, September 23^rd open so you can join us!  As always, the event will be on the “backyard beach” of Nikki Wantling (1985) in Longmont, Colorado.  It doesn’t matter if you live in Colorado or not, everyone is invited.

If you’re interested, send a quick email to Nikki (nicolew@oneimage.com) or her assistant Ron Bostwick (ronsroom@flash.net) and we’ll send you all the details.  Last year someone came saying the last Peary event he attended was his graduation in the early 70’s.  He hadn’t even gone to any of his reunions!  But he couldn’t wait until the next Crab Feast!  Come join us with all the crabs you can eat, sides, beer and we may even get some Washington Posts and Baltimore Suns to put on the picnic tables.

I found out about the website while surfing.  Occupation: independent computer consultant, Spouse: Terrie, Children: Ryan age 24

Memorable Incidents: Pep band insanity. Hearing “Disraeli Gears” for the first time in Electronics class.

Since High School: Computers - mainframes in the 70s, minis in the 70s & 80s, PCs in the 80s & 90s, and now embedded micro controllers (robotic telescope domes!)

Also being happily married, raising a great son, playing a lot of guitar and singing, and flying large, dangerous model rockets.

Future Plans: More of the same, until we retire in the Caribbean.

Memorable Teacher: Mr. Clyde Hunt, band teacher. He just seemed to like us kids better than any other teachers I know of. That meant a lot.

Memorable Teachers: Mr. Hill - a wonderful teacher who really cared about his students. Taught you a lot about life and responsibilities. Ms Vadala - She really forced me to learn English which continues to help me each day.  Ms. Whitaker - gymnastics- a great sport that I continue today, she was so much fun. Ms. Shugars - She helped me find myself and was a great listener.

I found out about the website from family and friends who are Peary Alumni, too.  

Occupation: Software Engineer/Project Manager, Spouse:

James, Children: Kelly Anne - born 12/11/95.  Getting ready to start kindergarten this fall!  She will be attending Cloverly Elem. in Mont Co - where Betsy Green Harringer (1980) is teaching.  Nicole Elizabeth - born 8/8/99.  Almost 1 year old!

Memorable Incidents: I cannot believe it has been 20 years since we graduated!  The 3 years spent at Peary hold a lot of fun memories with fellow classmates as we struggled with balancing the good times with getting an education.  Some did better than others at this balancing act.  All in all, it was a wonderful time.

Since High School: I have been working at Johns Hopkins

University/Applied Physics Lab for a little over 3 years now.  Before that I worked at the former, Vitro Corporation after I graduated from James Madison Univ.  I have spent my career developing software applications for the Navy, NASA, and Medical Institutions.

Future Plans: To continue to work on the balancing act of having fun as well as being successful.  To enjoy every day with my husband and 2 daughters and all of our family members and all of our friends.

Memorable Teachers: Mr. Clarke and his Bonus questions - Best wishes to Mr. Clarke on his retirement.  He was a great teacher.  Danny and Kenny - thanks for letting me put your names down.  Ms. Glass’s art class - Frank - I recently threw out the Mickey Mouse we made.  Ms. Rosen - Wrong!  Ms. Thomson - Adv. Biology - good class!

I found out about the website from other alumni.

Occupation: president - Fresh Oil, Inc., Children: Abbey 21 years and Caroline 19 years

Memorable Incidents: Romeo & Juliet Play, Trip to Montreal for Expo 68, Lots of friends and good times.

Since High School: MJC, U of M, worked for GEICO, transferred to Macon, GA. 1974, Kemper Ins in Atlanta 1977, been there since.  Private investigator 1984, joined a Boiler Service Company in 1985, still there helping corporate.  Started my own company in 1995, Fresh Oil, Inc. then sold out to TEXACO in 1999.  Divorced in 1997.

Future Plans: travel & enjoy life.

I found out about the website from Judy Casey, a Fellow Peary High Grad. 

Occupation: Art Director, Spouse: Leo, Children: Leah Moon Phenicie 4 years old and Leo Louis Phenicie 2 years old

Memorable Incidents: Variety Shows with Joe Tralongo, Mr. Clarke and what an outstanding teacher he was to me.

Since High School: Graduate of Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, I’ve been traveling. I was married in 1995 had two kids right away and I now work as a designer for a International Financial Printer in Washington DC.

Future Plans: My Husband and I work for the same firm. So I think we would like to transfer to one of the California offices in the next five years. Hopefully we may have a 1981 class reunion by then.

Memorable Teachers: Mr. Clarke of course for his bonus questions. Miss Shidaman I’m not sure how she spelled her last name but she was the dance teacher at the time I was at Peary and when I was in her dance class she made us read a book called “Pulling Your Own Strings” which at the time I thought was strange “read a book for dance class,” but as I tried to get my own career off the ground I began to understand where I had learned some important lessons I use today.
