(1979) When
I attended Homecoming 2000, it brought back so many memories. And to top it all off, I had seen Al Comeau (‘78) and his
family at Mamma Lucia’s in Olney. In October 1988, I had given myself a
birthday party while my folks were in Europe and several Husky alums were
present: Lynne
Keady, Steve Budd, Valerie and Randy Santos.
That evening, it was topped off by playing poker at Al Comeau’s
house & I had never played poker before & won $100!
I was so lucky!! I
have pictures from that evening which I have treasured immensely.
I also found a photo from Gay Laurienzo’s bridal shower in the
summer of 1983, which had a lot of alums.
Gay said that I should have been a private detective since I found
people who were in remote places. This
was before the Internet age. If
anyone has seen Steve Budd, I’d love to hear from him. What
I also remember...Donnie DelVecchio me on my affection for Barry
Manilow’s music. I am
celebrating my 20th year as a Federal government employee this
year. My first boss was Steve and Judi Hogan’s mom!!
I have seen Steve and Judi on various occasions throughout the
years. From:

Teachers: Mrs. Gayle- My memories are clearest of her classroom and
enthusiasm for literature. She
believed in me. Mr. Clarke-
brave guy took his World History class on a camping trip. Thank
you for providing this fascinating website. It is so amazing to me that I
went to extraordinary measures to spend as little time at Peary as
possible, yet this website and reading about individuals from Peary is so
compelling. I enjoy knowing that I am a part of Peary High School even
after 30 years. From:

(1966) Hi,
to all you rock and rollers of ‘66, I
just wanted to give you a heads up on our 35-Year reunion next year. I’ve
met several times with the people at the Doubletree Hotel in Rockville for
our reunion next year and have several things already planned and in-place
for our big event. BTW,
I’ve been working on the class of 63, 64, and 65 joint reunions with
several ladies for the past year that is in 3 weeks (Aug. 11th
weekend). It’ll be at the
Marriott in Gaithersburg where our 30th reunion was held.
Plans are going great so it’s inspired me to start working on
ours again. POOR POOR JIM.... He said there is not a room in this house
now that he can go in without PEARY stuff being in it....
LOL. OUR
35th reunion will be Aug. 17th, 2001 weekend, so
mark your calendars! OH,
you don’t have a 2001 calendar?---then mark it in December and transfer
it to the new calendar next year....It will be at the Doubletree Hotel on
Rockville Pike—one block south of Congressional Shopping Center.
(Remember that)? The
metro is right out the back door for those of you flying into Reagan
National Airport you can take the metro to the Hotel door.
Also anyone interested in doing a Washington D.C. tour during the
day on Saturday this will be a very convenient way to travel around the
city on the metro. After MUCH
haggling back and forth I convinced the Hotel to drop their room rates to
us from 79.00 a night to 64.00. I
was very pleased with that to say the least—Hey they should - we’re
spending lots of money there that weekend ... :)
...and the rooms are really lovely for all of you that will be
staying at the hotel or even you local ones that will be staying there
because you don’t want to miss anything.
:) Brief
overview: Friday
night will be our warm up cocktail party at the hotel. Saturday
during the day will be visiting with friends at the hotel or playing in
Washington via Metro or car if you choose. Saturday
night will be the Reunion dinner/dance. Sunday
a tour of the school that is now reopened as a Hebrew Academy. Letters
will be sent out to everyone in late January or Feb. with all the details.
So if you’re planning a vacation, your child’s wedding or some
other event for next summer I wanted you to know the date well in advance
so you’ll have no conflicts and will be able to attend. We’re
looking forward to seeing all the ones that attended the 50th
Birthday Party for the class of ‘66, or had never been to any of the
reunions before, plus several people that we have just been able to find.
And of course all of you that have never missed any of the reunions.
Side note to R.F.—NO, we still haven’t found Judy Van Gundy
...but we will by this reunion, I promise.... :)
It’s going to be a great weekend that I hope none of you will
miss. I’m
sure you all know about the Peary MSO page.
If not the web URL is www.pearyhs.org.
The guy from ‘76, Bob Lau started it and maintains it, and has
done a wonderful job of keeping this going and would appreciate any
updated info you care to give about yourself and also any contributions
that you would like to make to help support it. It has loads of information about the school, the alumni
assoc. and your classmates. You
can also find some old friends email addresses there too.
So check it out. May
you all be well and happy and above all, Blessed.
Looking forward to seeing you all next summer. Gale
