found out about the website from a friend. Occupation:
medical receptionist, Spouse: Michael, Children: Robert l. Hoffman and
Michael c. Hoffman 20 yr. old twins! Grandchildren: none yet Memorable
Incidents: I graduated in 1978 though I was supposed to in 1979- I was in
a hurry back than so I missed a lot- I remember a lot of little things
that add up to one really nice memory!! i do remember that i was in the
big grad pic in 1977 and it made dean peters really mad!!!
i had no business being in it but i got away w/it!!! Since
High School: being the best mother and wife that i know how- now-if i
could just figure out what i want to be when i grow up........
spending time w/ my husband who is and has been my best friend for
24 years this summer!!! Memorable
Staff: mrs thomas- she always called me the wrong name (there were 6
cope’s in peary) and my english teacher (for the life of me i can not
remember her name) she taught me how to like myself and that by just
reading a book you can go on vacation w/out leaving the house- she also
taught me how to express myself through writing Future
Plans: only time will tell. now that my kids are grown it’s my turn to
“figure out what i wanna be when i grow up” i really enjoy working in
the medical field so that may be my direction. To be happy! i am
new to the cyberworld (welcome me to the year 2000!) i was directed to
this web site through a good ole friend back home- i live in newark
delaware now. small and fairly quiet! it’s a college town so the
“kids” keep me feeling young- i have 20 year old twin boys myself!!! the
real reason i started to write this is to share some sad news with anyone
who doesn’t know already. my good friend karen mathurin-class of 1979
passed away in oct. 1999. i had known karen since i was 3 years old and
though over the years we lost touch on and off she always held a very
special place in my heart and always will. i never new when she would
enter back into my life as she was a traveler and i got married to a
wonderful man that i’ve known since i was 15 years old-so needless to
say i’ve been settled! (i got married when i was 19 not 15!) karen
would call me from who knew where at any hour of the day or night with
stories that were hard to believe but oh so enjoyable to hear!! She loved
life and hers ended way to soon. i
miss her so very much. when a death is sudden it takes awhile to
comprehend that when that you will never hear that person’s voice again
or see them or hug them. she was a good person who liked adventure
(sometimes too much) but that’s what made her KAREN.
thanx for listening-M From:

(1981) zachary
william morris born 05/17/00 From:
Jackie Libby Fields <smlrugrats@aol.com>
(would-be 1984) I
found out about the website from my sister Cindy (Libby) Saunders class of
‘81. Occupation:
self employed/owner, Spouse: Jerry, Children: Heather Renee’ almost 17
(whose father was a ‘81 graduate Ricky VanDusen), Heidi Lynn
(step-daughter) almost 15, Jerry Michael almost 12, Richard Scott (Scotty)
just turned 9, and Keri Jean just turned 8 in March. Grandchildren: none
yet and hopefully not for a long time. Memorable
Incidents: Actually I never attended Peary, but I had the best times in
Parkland. I grew up with so
many people that attend Parkland and Peary, but never stayed in touch.
Had a lot of friends and a lot of good times. I remember those days at Parkland the best of all.
I’ve been reading all the past submissions and realized so many
people have lost touch over the years and now have found each other.
Parkland was a lot of fun so many friends and if only I hadn’t
had a child at such a young age I would have continued with everyone.
Since those junior high years I’ve had four kids.
It’s a shame that when you have such good friends in those junior
high and high school years that it is so easy to lose touch with them.
I look back now after 16 or so years and wonder where everyone is
and what they are doing, and why couldn’t we have stayed in touch. Since
High School: Well, being that I didn’t graduate with the class of ‘84,
I can’t say that I’ve done much besides raise my kids and work here
and there. I did spend 3 ½ years in Tennessee, which was a real
experience and decided I needed to go back home so we relocated back in
the fall of ‘99 and I’ve started my own business nothing big but
it’s enough. Future
Plans: Well after moving back from Tennessee I thought I would be able to
spend time with my sister (class of’81) Cindy, but of course she had to
leave the area and move to Maine to be closer to my parents who have lived
there for the last 9 years, so I figure my brother (‘77 grad) will be
packing up his family and going soon too, I guess it will be my turn next.
So I guess my future plans are to relocate to Maine with the rest
of the Libby clan and bug my mother to death. This
is a great site. Even though
I didn’t attend Peary I have recognized a lot of people I went to
Parkland with and hope to soon be in touch with them. I’ve missed a lot
over the years and I hope with this I will soon be talking to people I
haven’t spoken to in 16 years. This
is a great way to find people keep it up. From:
Joseph G. Pratt <jpratt@rti.org>

The comeback in the basketball playoff game against Springbrook to
win the county championship, only to be denied a chance to win the state
title. In senior year,
serving as a counselor for a Rock Creek Valley sixth-grade class trip.
The feeling that involvement in student government could facilitate
positive change (what an idealist I was!).

(1966) Hello
class of ‘66. I’m one of
the 6 infamous “Montos” and I can only say I was the normal one! I’m
residing in Frederick, Md. and have a home in the city, which I love. My
marriage broke up 5 years ago and I’m single now. My two sons are grown,
graduated from college and away from home. And I’m working for U.S.
Dept. of State in D.C. doing Public Affairs, or otherwise making foreign
affairs more confusing for ordinary citizens! I’d love to hear from
anyone who remembers me. Actually
I look about the same as I did in yearbook, but my hair is redder.
Naturally, of course! Classmates
used to call me Carol, but I decided in college that “Carolyn” was
more sophisticated and now I’m stuck with it.
I’d love to hear from you. Carol From:
Rochelle Levy Lazar <rlazar@AFIonline.org>
(1980) I
found out about the website from Renee Dutton O’Hara.
Occupation:
Senior Writer/Editor at the American Film Institute Spouse: Divorced,
Children: Jonah Lucas 3 ½ Memorable
Incidents: Play rehearsals with Mr. Gibbs, who acted out every part
between snack breaks of chips and Pepsi.
A cappella and Madrigals with Mr. Peerless. Since
High School: After graduating from the University of Maryland with a B.S.
in Broadcast Journalism, I worked as a news anchor/disc jockey at a
station in Virginia and then at the now-defunct WINX in Rockville.
I moved to LA in May 1987 and experienced my first major earthquake
that October. After a few
years as a Universal Studios tour guide/show announcer and a comedy
traffic school instructor, I decided to seriously pursue print journalism.
My first foray into the field was as the Associate Editor for Bugs
Bunny Magazine, a one-shot publication honoring Bugs Bunny’s 50th
Anniversary. Then I worked at
Us Magazine, wrote the Radio Column for Billboard Magazine and wrote
freelance for lots of other magazines.
In 1995, I switched careers again to Television Development,
working at NBC in the Movies & Miniseries Department and later at
American Zoetrope (Francis Ford Coppola’s company) as the Manager of TV.
And I wrote and sold an eight-hour miniseries treatment to ABC on
the life of Maya Angelou. (Don’t
look for it anytime soon; Hollywood is all about selling things that never
get made). In the midst of all this, I made it through an even bigger and
scarier earthquake, a marriage and divorce (on par with a third
earthquake), and the birth of my son Jonah—hands-down the biggest joy in
my life. Since February 1999, I’ve been the Senior Writer/ Editor at the
American Film Institute, writing and editing publications, speeches, Web
site content, even a 2001 page-a-day calendar with trivia about 365 funny
movies—look for it in bookstores at the end of the year (plug, plug).
But my most exciting project by far was writing the Tribute Book
for Harrison Ford, who received AFI’s 2000 Life Achievement Award.
Like every other woman who meets him, I immediately fell madly in
love. He’s
charming, down-to-earth, a true gentleman...and married. Memorable
Teacher: Mr. Gibbs, for his passion and commitment to theatre and the arts
and the amazing sense of discipline he instilled in me.
I’ll never forget the last day of or senior Humanities class when
he played a Lena Horne song on the record player (remember those?!) that
almost made me cry. Ms. Vadala, for her ability to temper Mr. Gibbs’
moods—I always felt she was a truly good, misunderstood person. Mr. Peerless, for his love of music and his determination to
spread that joy to his students. And
Mr. Boyd, for his ability to tell the same history stories and jokes year
after year and make them sound fresh every time. From:
Gail Siegrist Greer <Gail_Greer@netzero.com>

Then on to the insurance field for a few more.
Attended Washington College in Chestertown, MD from 9/86 through to

Began work in administrative assistance field and found I liked
it—it’s what I still do. Moved
to Anne Arundel County for a couple of years then returned to Montgomery
County in 1992. My son, Michael, was born in 1993 and is the best blessing I
have ever received. I stayed
home for a couple of years. Got
married in 1995 and divorced in 1998. Needed a salary in 1996 and returned
to administration at a telecommunications firm located in Beltsville. I have been a working single-Mom ever since.
Have remained in touch with a couple of old high school pals.
I have two beautiful nieces, Crystal age 3, and Rebecca age 9 mos.,
and I get to see them often when sister Tina visits from Frederick. Future
Plans: Looking forward to selling my home in a year or two with intent to
move out of Mont. County to a more peaceful, slower pace somewhere else in
Maryland (Eastern Shore?). Seriously
considering what else I really want to do to support myself.
I may go back to school for a teaching certificate but am not sure
yet. Memorable
Teacher: Mr. Clarke! He
expected (& got!) full participation from all of his students - mind,
body & soul - and that required a lot of my otherwise occupied brain
cells. He did this with humor and so I looked forward to his class.
He rekindled my love of history. Other

life. I was a having a hard
time at home back then, and studying Hemingway and how all his characters
were survivors, made me want to so the same.
He never knew how much he helped me. Can’t

(1983) I’ve
known about the site for a couple of years now. Occupation:
I work from home and I dispatch at night outside the home (extra $$$),
Significant Other: Jerome K Anceleitz, Children: Daughter, Caitlin Brynn,
Just turned 10 May 30th of this year. Since
High School: I’ve been working continuously from one job to the next. I started up a typing business at home so that I would have
more time for my daughter. I
also dispatch and do billing from my home for Auto Rescue, a roadside
assistance company that my fiancée and I work for. Future
Plans: Future plans would be to have all of my debts paid, to finally own
my own home free and clear, have my daughter settle down (long story) and
be able to enjoy life (yeah right :P ) Memorable
Teachers: I remember Mr. Hill, Mr. Braggonier and Mr. Hahn. I also remember being told by all of my teachers that I
wouldn’t be sent to the principal’s office if I got out of line.
I’d be sent to my grandfather, who worked as a building service
worker during my time at Peary. He has since passed away (he died February 20, 2000). Other
alums I know about? I’ve got a database started and I’ve been doing
some reverse tracing trying to locate classmates.
Also, I’m interested to find out WHO is actually going to be
doing the 20yr reunion for my class.
I’ve been told that it is Dee McIntyre, but unable to get
confirmation. I was going to
do the reunion if no one else was going to. | Back to the Newsletter Selections |
