From: Christine Sterling Hill-Byrne Pbyrne39@aol.com (1975) Date: Wed, 14 Apr 1999 Subject: Update

Occupation: stay home mom, Spouse: Pete, Children: Kevin-4 years

Memorable Incidents: Mostly I remember the parties outside of school at Watkins house, or Heinrich's house, hanging out at Burger Chef, the cabin in the woods, mammy blue and the mail truck, working at Ponderosa.

Since High School: I played in bands for about 12 years. I mostly played keyboards and played original music, but a little top 40 in the beginning. My husband ran a recording studio so we recorded our songs and played out on a regular basis. I met my current husband through music (he went to Magruder and played in a band called Monarch in hs) I have had a variety of jobs including secretary, hairdresser, cued speech interpreter, and special ed. instructional asst. at RICA. Now I stay home with my 4 year old son, before that we used to hike, bike, etc. anything outside. We live in Boyds in the semi-country. Over the years I have been involved with a little animal rescuing. I still am in contact with Celia Yost Shay, Melanie Cordelli Page, and Rocky Page, and of course my brother Brad.

Future Plans: Just to stay healthy and raise my son - we'd love to retire to the beach in the very far off future. When my son goes to school I will probably work with animals in some way.

Memorable Teachers: Mr. Schere was one of my favorites, he was a good teacher and always nice/ The same for Mr. DeCamp. I'll always remember Ms. Berry for a nice note she wrote to me.

From: Susan Moulton Witkowski NxDoorGirl@aol.com (1984) Date: Wed, 14 Apr 1999 Subject: Update

I found out about the website by surfing the Web looking for Reunion information. Occupation: June Cleaver's Clone, Spouse: Joseph, Children: Jenna Rose age 5

Memorable Incidents: Mr Clarke's bonus questions. Always embarrassing for me since I was in the front row — I was an easy target. (LOL)

Since High School: I went on to college at East Carolina University and majored in nursing. After college, I started my career working in the insurance industry in Rockville and met my husband on a whim in Georgetown. I moved to Pittsburgh and we married in December of 1990. When Joe completed his Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering, we moved to Baltimore for his job and I started working for Travelers Insurance Company developing the Provider Network for the Managed Care Department. My daughter, Jenna Rose, was born on March 20, 1994. At that point, I gave up my career joyfully to become a full-time Mom. We are now living outside of St. Louis, Missouri — again for Joe's job. We have built our dream home and are enjoying life in the Midwest. If anyone is ever out this way, drop us a line — we love company!

Future Plans: Jenna starts kindergarten in the fall and we hope to add to our family. Joe continues to slowly climb the corporate ladder and I am enjoying the role of "ballet Mom" — carting Jenna to her dance lessons and events.

Memorable Teachers: I remember most Mr. Clarke, Mr. Hill and Mr. DeCamp. Mr. DeCamp would probably be amazed to learn that I aced Organic and Inorganic Chemistry in college. I contribute that to his patience and determination. I remember Mr. Hill for selecting me for the Blue and White Club and for making algebra and geometry interesting. And Mr. Clarke, as I mentioned above, for his bonus questions on his daily pop quizzes.

I would love to hear from any old classmates. Drop me a line, I always write back. Fantastic Website — I am very glad I stumbled across it.

From: Patricia L. Toler PLToler1@aol.com (1983) Date: Thu, 15 Apr 1999 Subject: My Home Business and Helping with 1983's reunion

Well gang!!

Just thought you'd like to know how things were going. Things are going slowly but I hope that business will pick up soon. As for the reunion, I'm hoping that we will have one. I'd like to participate in putting one together for the next reunion for the class of 1983.

Anyway, onto more personal things. My aunt had back surgery but she is recovering nicely. My fiance is a candidate for surgery due to an injury to his back. I know he'll be okay too. My daughter is doing fine. And things are okay here at home. I hope to hear from some of my former classmates. I'd love to get together just to see how the rest of my class is faring.

This is to Jeff Davis: Jeff, if you need any help coordinating the class, let me know. Also, if possible, I'd like to see what I can do about coordinating things for the next reunion (with help, of course), but in order to do that, I need a complete list of class mates. That would be a big help.

Well nothing else to report for now. I will keep you informed. Oh!! If anyone needs any typing done or any specialty work done, give me a call. Check out my webpage, the number is there.

Thats all for now.

I found out about the website? Stumbled across it. Occupation: journalist/businessman/minister - I write movie reviews from a Christian perspective under the name of Michael Elliott. Spouse: Kate, Children: stepsons Geoff - 21 and David - 18, Grandchildren: Oh my... not yet!!!

I currently run a Bible fellowship from my home, teaching the scriptures to anyone who's interested in knowing more about God's Word. (Yeah, I know... kinda hard to believe He called me??? Goes to show you that God has a sense of humor too)

Future Plans: Working on syndicating the movie review column. It is on the Internet and appears in 5 newspapers (none in Maryland yet) with about a dozen more looking at it.

Memorable Teachers: Oh... I remember that cute little shorthand/steno teacher. I also remember the attractive chemistry teacher. And of course I remember the knockout girls' gym teacher. (Hey, what did you expect? I was a teenaged high school male with the corresponding hormones!)

Other alums I know about? Sorry. Can't help. I barely remember to keep track of my own family.

Comments? No. I just hated seeing my name on a "missing persons" list. I figure that is just one step away from a milk carton picture.

I found out about the website from Anne Sforza. Occupation: teacher, Spouse: Blas Coy, Jr. Children: Katie Coy age 10, Tyler Coy age 7 (almost 8), Grandchildren: Not funny!

Since High School: I earned a B.A. and M.Ed. from University of Texas. I worked in banking for 5 years, found it very unsatisfying, then went into teaching. I've taught English and newspaper for 7 years. I loved (almost) every minute of it. We've been married for 15 years (wow, that long?). In the last several years we've really been enjoying raising our children. We have made some very enjoyable trips with them to Florida, Colorado, the Texas coast. Every age seems better than the last. Of course, now we're staring the teenage years in the face, and we're scared. I haven't visited Maryland for about nine years. Since learning of the 20 year reunion, Blas and I have been making plans to attend. I wish we could bring the children, but school begins here on August 16. I've also been very active in my union local (serving as secretary and president) and local politics.

Future Plans: I've apprenticed myself to a carpenter this summer. I'd like to to build furniture and cabinets. I'm also planning a trip to Rocky Mountain park to hike across the continental divide—if my knee holds out. (I tore a cartilage in January.)

Memorable Teachers: Mr. Travers—he taught us how to think and how to express and defend what we think. Mr. Proett—he rode a unicyle in class for us. Mr. Roberts—he talked to us like adults. Mrs. Dawson—she loved literature as much as I did.

Please put me on the mailing list for the reunion invitations. I've never received any info. on any reunions. Strangly, my parents received Takanori's invitation for the 5 year reunion, but not mine.

From: Sari Hines McKay mckay@tst.tracor.com (1963) Date: Thu, 22 Apr 1999 Subject: Update

I found out about the website from a co-worker who is also a Peary grad. Occupation: Administration/facility management, Spouse: Gary, Children: Sally Glick (married to 1984 grad Mike Glick), Tom Sampson, Grandchildren: Robert Glick - 3, Julia Sampson - 2, William Glick - due in June

Memorable Incidents: Working in the school prior to its opening in the summer of 1960, decorating bulletin boards. And then, senior skip day in the spring of 1963. We all had a great time at Swain's Lock - picnicking, canoeing (and getting dumped into the water), etc. It was a wonderful experience to have been in the first class, and the most senior class for three full years.

Since High School: Went to college, dropped out (much regretted later), married classmate Bob Sampson, had 2 kids. We divorced and he died very shortly afterward. Went to work at Vitro (I bet there's no one who works closer to the old schoolhouse than the bunch of graduates at Vitro!) Remarried and gained 3 stepchildren. Been to Europe twice (my sister lived first in England, then in France, for years), numerous Caribbean islands, and Mexico.

Future Plans: Live long enough to retire!

Memorable Teachers: There were SO many wonderful and talented men and women who taught me during my years at Peary, but the one I'll always remember the best is Mr. Ernest Mate, my Latin teacher for my junior and senior years. There were only 12 of us in Latin 3/Latin 4, and although I don't think I got a really good education in Latin, he taught us so many other things. He organized a trip for us to see MacBeth at the National Theater. We all went out to dinner together once. And on beautiful days he would sometimes hold class outside, sitting in the grass. Class discussion would start with our Latin assignment, but it went to any imaginable topic from there.

From: Debra Goldenberg Jacobs dcskins@mindspring.com (1969) Date: Thu, 22 Apr 1999 Subject: Update

I found out about the website from Jack Robbins (69). Occupation: Human Resources Manager/Training

Memorable Incidents: Getting sent home for my skirt being too short. Good parties. Smoking in the bathroom. Great football games. No holding hands in the hall. Leaving.

Since High School: I worked in Radiology till 1984 then switched to Human Resource Management. Got a B.S. & M.S. in HR. I worked in Virginia & Marylnd until 1990. Then I followed my family down to South Florida. My brother, Skip Goldenberg (72), has been here since the mid 70's. Mom & Dad retired here in the late 80's. I was working in HR down here for a couple of private firms. Now I work for Palm Beach County (government) as the Training Director for the Water Utilities Dept. (sludge-r-us!)

I'm into Bluegrass music and go to festivals whenever I can. I also swim alot as the ocean is just 4 miles from my house. Life in Florida is pretty good (you don't have to shovel sunshine), but I always miss Rockville.

Enough of that crap. I got married too young, and divorced young. No children. I never re-married, but I wouldn't rule it out. I am fortunate in that I have made good friends where ever I go and have kept them for many years.

Future Plans: I should be starting my Ph.D. in Public Administration this fall. I do get back home about 2-3 times a year, so if anyone remembers me and would like to get in touch for old times sake, please let me know.

By the way, if anyone comes down to South Florida, please look me up. I'm not hard to find. If you come during football season, let me know. We have a great Redskins fan club down here. About 150 of us get together for every game. Lots of folks from up home. You won't have to miss a game when you come to West Palm Beach!

Memorable Teachers: Mrs. Luck: "It's my mistake and your error" - Mr. Hill: Fireballs and the resulting heavy breathing - Mr. Williams: Best homeroom guy around

If someone wants to get in touch with my brother, Skip Goldenberg (72) please let me know. He is an attorney down here in Palm Beach Gardens. He's married to Carol and has two kids, Reed & Casey. Yes, he is still the same old Skip you always knew!
