From: Linda Lojewski Blaser blaser@erols.com (1969) Date: Fri, 26 Feb 1999 Subject: Update

I found out about the website from Ken Roseman. Occupation: Rare Book conservator, Spouse: Peter, Children: Jacquelyn (Jackie) Blaser, 20, graduated from Damascus H. S. in 1996 and attends St. Mary's college of MD; Brianna Blaser, 18, graduated from the Richard Montgomery International Baccalaureate Program in 1998, attends Carnegie Mellon University

Since High School: For the past 26 years I have been working in the Book Conservation Field. I began at the Library of Congress where I was trained. I left there and worked freelance for 14 years. That enabled me to be available for my daughters during their formative years. Ten of those years I was a Girl Scout leader, too. I have been working at the Folger Shakespeare Library since then. I enjoy my work. Sometimes I get to travel and give lectures about my field. Just over 1 year ago a local group of Book Artists and I got together and produced a limited edition of Leonardo DaVinci's Fables. We used handmade paper and custom designed type. Each one of us executed a unique design binding on one of the books. My design won a prize at the Woodlawn Plantation Needlwork Exhibition and was subsequently bought by the National Gallery of Art here in Washington, DC. I felt very honored. This year has begun with a thud. I had emergency surgery on a herniated disk, followed by a long bout of the flu.

Future Plans: I'm hoping to get well soon and enjoy the rest of 1999.

Memorable Teacher: I remember enjoying Mr Judd's animated World History lectures starting on the first day of class.

From: Ceal Pernia Curran cealcurran@earthlink.net (1965) Date: Sat, 27 Feb 1999 Subject: February Newsletter

Again, you've done a great job with MSO Online, Bob. HOWEVER, I hope it continues to be run by you. I shuddered a little when you mentioned the suggestion that alums with "side businesses" in this field take it over in the newsletter.

I think it's wonderful that it started out as your hobby and has grown to such an extent. You should be PROUD, VERY, VERY PROUD of not only the MSO itself... but, of the real human service you've done for the rest of us. I can't begain to explain the warm and exciting feelings I've experienced as I am finally, after all these years, able to communicate with my ex-classmates...actually, they are not my "ex-classmates" but are indeed my long, lost friends.

I believe you should be the one to keep control of the comings and goings of the Website. Last week, I spent many hours/evenings going over ALL of the past newsletters. I copied all articles sent in by anyone in the Class of '65 and put them in MS Word and printed them out. Now I have a reference as I start that first e-mail to someone from so long ago. Of course, these poor, old eyeballs needed a larger font to read comfortably...so it took me almost fifty pages to print it out. Anyway, I have enjoyed going back and reading all of it. Also, I enjoyed seeing the transitions in the newsletter format over the years.

I am sorry that only eight (8) people from CLASS OF 1965 have contributed thus far. I also noted that not one of those contributions is from the male gender of our class...come on fellows, help us out a little here!!!

I especially enjoy scanning through each new newsletter to see what all my fellow classmates are up to. Keep well and continue the good service. - Cecelia "Ceal Pernia" Curran, Class of '65

From: Steve Thomas ST56CHEVY@aol.com 1974) Date: Mon, 1 Mar 1999 Subject: February 99 newsletter

Just a note to clear up something. In the February '99 issue of MSO, somebody (not me) sent a little blurb about me (of all people) being a Gay Pride activist and that my spouse was named Tom.

Even though it was quite funny, it's not true. (Gosh, it's not even close !!)

My spouse was (we are currently separated after 16 years of marriage) named Shari and I have two (2) kids. (Gee, I can even prove it.)

Never have been, never will be ... gay. (Just like women too much !!)

Despite this, I do enjoy this web page. Keep up the good work.

Steve (I'm not gay) Thomas (74)

From: Patricia L. Toler PLToler1@aol.com (1983) Date: Sat, 6 Mar 1999 Subject: Update

My aunt, Eileen (Brown) Carter, Class of '65, first told me about the website a few years ago. Since then, I've been submitting regular articles to the MSO. Occupation: Self - Employed, Significant Other: Jerome K. Anceleitz, Children: Daughter, Caitlin Brynn - 8 1/2 yrs old (May 30th), She is currently in the third grade. She is a beautiful child (yes, I'm prejudiced because I'm her mom) but she is. And she is growing like a weed and really active, Grandchildren: None yet. [Thank God! :)]

Memorable Incidents: Now that I think back, I guess just about everything stands out in my mind. I know that I wasnt very popular in high school. And I did get picked on a lot because of various things like the way I dressed, the way I walked, you know, minor things. :) But hey, I'm not bitter. I have always been somewhat of a loner anyway, so it really wasnt a big deal. :)

Since High School: Well, I've been working, going to college (when I can afford it and have day care), raising my daughter on my own. (Her father left us 6 yrs ago). I live in a condo that my fiance purchased, I have two vehicles: a car and a truck. (always wanted one when I was growing up) and basically just staying out of trouble. I ran into Patti Ketchum in 1988 when I was working as a waitress at the Big Boy's in Aspen Hill. It was the night of the 5th yr reunion and I had to work :(. We talked for a few minutes and then she left and I went back to work and I never saw her again. So I've been working, starting a business (its slow but it will get there) and basically just living my life with my child and the man I love. Sounds mushy, huh? Well, I guess I've gotten soft in my old age..but who cares! :)

Future Plans: Well, I'll have to think about that for a moment. I know! One plan is for my business to really take off and become self sufficient so that I can quit working OUTSIDE the home and put all my time into my business. Right now, its a part time venture. But hey, I have to support my child somehow right? Thats one of my future plans. The others, I'm sure will fall right into place as soon as number one takes off. And I guess we all know, or at least most of us know what those plans would be. Yep, you guessed it! ALL the debts paid off in full, own everything free and clear, and I know I would love to lose some of the weight I gained after I had my daughter and then my surgery 5 yrs later.

Memorable Teachers: I remember Mr. Hill and Mr. Braggonier. Mr. Hill was always so proper, but he was a good teacher, even though he rarely smiled. And Mr. Braggonier, whew! he was ALWAYS full of energy, bouncing around the classroom. I loved going to his class. He was a great teacher. I also remember my grandfather Mr. Brown. Yes, my grandfather, he was a faculty/staff member, whatever you want to call him. Whenever it was lunchtime, my grandfather always had lunch waiting for me when I came from class to the cafeteria. Most of the students would ask me why I was sitting with the janitorial staff and I always stood up and said proudly, "Because THIS is MY grandfather". Then I would sit back down and finish my lunch. It might sound kind of corny now, but back then it didnt.

I'd really like to keep in touch with everyone from the Class of 1983, even though most of you didnt like me back then, I hold no grudges against anyone. I would also like to welcome all of you to check out my website: http://members.aol.com/PLToler1/PPTS.htm. Who knows? ;) I might be able to do some typing for YOU! Also, whoever is coordinating the reunion stuff for the Class of 1983, please let me know if you need any help. I'll be more than happy to do whatever I can. And to the classes that my aunt, Eileen Carter is working with to coordinate THEIR reunion, I'm still available if you need any flyers done. Take care for now, Peeps! Hope everything is going great for you all and hope that everyone of you has gotten to where you had hoped you'd be after graduation.
