I found out about the website from a former classmate - Natalie (Goldberg) Friedman. Occupation: Recovering Teacher/Current Librarian, Children: Mary (Molly) Cloud Roepke - 24, Grandchildren: Eli (the charming) Roepke - 3

Since High School: -Bach Univ Studies - American History, Economics -MA Contemporary Curriculum -MS Library and Information Sciences

*Taught in an alternative school while daughter was growing up. (Frequently took mixed age groups on extended fieldtrips - up to 2 weeks on the road - planned interdisciplinary curriculum for the sojourn. WONDERFUL fun - glad I did it, equally delighted not to be doing it any more!

*Working as a circulation coordinator for the Fine Arts Branch Libraries at the University of Arizona. Very mellow, pleasant work: talented, interesting students; gentle, eccentric colleagues; wonderful books. I work mostly nights and weekends and so can spend weekday afternoons and my Thurs/Fri "weekend" hanging out with my grandson. The flexible schedule also allows me to enjoy my parents, who also live in Tucson, and to assist them as needed.

Future Plans: Bask. Garden. Make puppets. Read. Enjoy my family and dogs!

Memorable Teachers: Mr. Murdock - because he actually READ what I wrote instead of just correcting the dismal spelling. I was stunned - and wrote and wrote and wrote...and kept on writing!

Mr. Proett - because he loved solving "snappy little problems" (as well as elephant jokes) and had such calm faith that I could grasp higher math. I came into his class with very poor arithmetic skills and worse confidence. I still have my sliderule. The pleasure I discovered in bullying problems into submission has enriched my teaching and my life. In his class I learned that an answer wasn't right or wrong, but right or not right YET.

Mrs. Blazek - because she READ to us! Her skill and appreciation of language and her reading of "Cry the Beloved Country" made a profound impression on me.

Mr. McKay - because he shared his values as well as his humor and love of science. I was so touched when he planted a tree when his son was born. He wasn't intimidated by risk, or smug suburban kids.

Mr. Hinds - because he believed in Mike Glenn when nobody else did. He honored Mike's knowledge and experience as a mechanic and drew on this background to support Mike's academic success and personal confidence. It made a difference!

Mrs. Laurie - because of her warmth, enthusiasm and sunny faith that world diversity was a blessing! (Very impressive to me as I struggled to comprehend the local racism and hateful battle to ensure segregation of our neighborhood swimming pool.

Miss Bauer - because of her wry humor, passion for music, fondness of us. I still sing often, enthusiastically (and poorly...even her many skills couldn't do EVERYTHING!) I sing to myself, to my dogs, to my grandson (sang to his sweet mama). When complications from a recent surgery nearly took my father, I sang through the long night in intensive care to him - perhaps a comfort to him, certainly a comfort to me.

Mrs. Glass - because her skills and insightful mind sparked two very talented friends of mine (among others) and gave them confidence in their own vision, solace in being "different" from "in" stereotype of high schools then. Also - though I was bewildered and raging about the situation, I admired her calm grace in the face of the anti-semitism of the area.

These come to my mind right now (I hadn't expected this section!) - I'm sure others will come to mind over the next little while.

High school was not a good time for me - I was restless and impatient with restrictions, hated suburbs, thought I already knew everything, wanted to be gone. I'm very grateful for these teachers (and others) and their example, steadfast patience and skills.

After high school, I went to Montgomery College and then to Maryland University. During the summer months, I lived in Ocean City, MD. and worked at the Sheraton Hotel and was also a Police Officer. Being a police officer was a great learning experience and I gained a lot of knowledge about law enforcement! I was then hired by GE Information Services in Rockville, MD. I have been working there for over 16 years now and I am currrently a Program Manager. I got married in 1994 to Wendy Jean Havens (1975) and we currently live in New Market MD. with her two children Kristy, (21) who goes to Frostburg State University and Tony (17) who attends Linganore High School. Wendy and I are planning to have children of our own! This past summer I had the wonderful experience of going to London with Wendy and seeing where she use to live and go to school. My sister (Kathy Francis 1975) lives nearby and we see each other very often. We recently lost our father to lung cancer in September of 1997 and we miss him very much! I am sure many of you remember him. My Mom currently lives in Ocean City and enjoys it very much! My favorite teacher was Ken Brace and I will always remember breaking my leg in 10th grade JV Football. I still see Tom Gazenski and several other past high school friends, and we all go on annual golf outings together. Wendy and I also enjoy playing golf and we recently joined Holly Hills Country Club!

As all the classmates know from my email on February 10, 1999 we are having our first get together to get the ball rolling for the reunion on February 27, 1999 at the home of Candy Burch. In talking with one of my classmates he took a tour of the building and was wondering if anyone had any lists stating who had which locker in 1965 he thought maybe you would be interested in knowing that the guy in charge of construction has offered to give the front of the lockers to anyone who is interested if no interest then the lockers are going to be ditched. Hope to have a uptodate missing persons list online by Monday Feb 15. I guess that's all for now will keep everyone posted.
