Mrs. Gollogly, Library Nazi. The faculty member most important to my development as a high school student: Ed Burlas, Coach. He may not have been the most succesful wrestling coach at Peary, but he was certainly the best. Thanks, Coach. After all these years, we have dived headlong into the nineties (not a year too soon), and bought a computer with Internet capability. In my early wanderings through the Net, I searched on "peary rockville" and discovered this terrific web site. After graduation, I attended Marietta (Ohio) College (along with the legendary Eli Mantel) and graduated with a degree in accounting in 1974. I returned to this area and have worked in various firms as a CPA since then. I am currently partner in Adams & Johnson, P. C., with offices in Gaithersburg and Annandale, VA. It is a small tax, business accounting and financial planning firm. In addition, I am registered securities representative for IFG Network Securities brokerage offering general securities, insurance and annuities. I am married with three kids, Brian 13, Laura 11 and Spencer 7. One of my biggest clients is also a Peary graduate: Penny Adams Contner, 1968, my sister. She is a free-lance TV producer living in Sherman Oaks CA with her husband, Jim. Currently, she is Producer of "ER", the critically acclaimed and Number 1 rated show on TV. Among her other credits are White Shadow, Cheers, Hill Street Blues, Miami Vice, Columbo, and Midnight Caller to name of few. I rarely hear from or run into Peary grads, so it is great to find this site and read the messages, etc. ********** From: Janet Fishman Bridge JBridge220@aol.com (1979) Date: Sat, 2 Jan 1999 Subject: Update How I found out about the website? Occupation: Occupational Therapist, Spouse: Mike, Children: We have a new addition to our family. Kevin Timothy Murray, born November 16, 1998. Memorable Incidents: There are so many great memories from high school which seem to center around the social rather than the academic times at Peary. All the parties at the O'Donnell's, the Fookes' and of course at our house. Since High School: I graduated from Towson University with a degree in Occupational Therapy and Psychology and went on to work at Suburban Hospital for a couple of years before becoming a traveling therapist. I worked for a company that had various contracts with facilities throughout the US. I was able to pick and choose the assignments that usually lasted for 13 weeks (+/-). On my second assignment in Boston is where I met my husband. We were married in August of 1996. We live in Atlanta, Ga and he works for Bell South International that has taken us to many interesting destinations. We just got back from living in the Northeast of Brazil for a year. We've also lived in Panama and Mike lived in Beijing, China while we started dating. We're entering a new and exciting world of parenthood which we are both loving despite sleep deprivation. I will not be returning to "work" outside the home. Future Plans: Currently, it looks like Bell South will keep us local for a while which we are enjoying very much. No pressing plans right now except to enjoy our new expanded family and to enjoy friends and family in the good ole USA. ********** From: Stephanie Goldberg GrannyPitt@aol.com (1971) Date: Sun, 3 Jan 1999 Subject: class of 1971 My name is Stephanie J. As it stands now, we will not be having our 20th reunion. Therefore, I am making a personal plea to those who can attend the Spring Fling to make it "our reunion". I am hopeful that as many of the Class of 79 can attend this event. With the cooperation of the Chamber of Commerce for Atlantic City, I am coordinating other events that will be occurring during the weekend of April 9-10. I have 35 rooms at the hotel ready to be filled. If I do not get at least 20 attendees for the weekend, I will cancel this event. Please, try to come to NJ. I would love to see my fellow classmates and catch up with them. If you do attend, please bring a camera and plenty of memories to share! Other classes are welcome to attend. I have heard from Liz Latham (79), Donnie DelVecchio (79) David Ricklis (67), Eileen Brown Carter (65), Kevin Brooks (76) and Zana Hoffman (63). ********** From: Natalie Goldberg Friedman friedmanfam@earthlink.net (1964) Date: Mon, 4 Jan 1999 Subject: Update I found out about the website from another alumna who told my sister (also an alumna) about it. Occupation: Artist, Spouse: Allyn, Children: Maria age 24, Nicole age 20 Since High School: After obtaining a degree in psychology, my husband and I moved to Oklahoma in 1970. I have enjoyed working in several different areas: mental health, real estate, law firm administration, nursing home administration, and art. Of course, my two greatest achievements are my lovely daughters, Maria and Nicole! Future Plans: My long term plans are to continue developing my art career. In the immediate future, my husband and I are planning a 3-week trip to the Orient in spring, 1999, to celebrate our 30th anniversary! ********** From: Diana Taylor Keselica Diana.Keselica@usop.com (1977) Date: Wed, 6 Jan 1999 Subject: Season's Greetings!! My daughter, Noelle Keselica, was chosen as Montgomery County Gazettes' Co-Player of the Year for the Girls Fall Soccer season of 1998. Noelle is a freshman at Watkins Mill High School in Gaithersburg, MD. She was also named in the Washington Post as a first team All Met player of the year, and made the first team All State. Setting a scoring record for the school, and an individual record for players, Noelle scored 35 goals with 12 assists in 15 games. She plays for the Bethesda Fury club team, and is an Olympic Development Player for the state of Maryland. Last summer Noelle was flown to Chula Vista California by the United States Soccer Federation where she was chosen as a National Pool player for the United States. Please watch in the future as she tries for her place on the Women's US National Team, maybe even in Sydney for the 2002 Olympics. ********** From: Robin Rosenberg-Aiscowitz FAAChick1@aol.com (1979) Date: Thu, 7 Jan 1999 Subject: Spring Fling weekend To those wishing to attend the Spring Fling, the dress code is casual, but not THAT casual. The restaurant's atmosphere is similar to Phineas' in Rockville and the old G.D. Graffitti's on the Pike. Since it is a festive occasion, it could be considered "dressy casual". I have spoken to the Chamber of Commerce and they have informed me that it will be mid-March before any information about April activities are published. In the meantime, I plan to get any other info out to our fellow alums as soon as possible. The party is Saturday the 10th, so those who want to make a weekend out of it can let me know for Friday night activity. The hotel is approx. 4-1/2 miles from the restaurant, so accessibility is key. The casinos are open 24/7, so we could get together a alum package to play some casino games. If 20 reservations for the hotel and/or restaurant are not made, I will cancel the event by Valentine's Day. The deadline for hotel arrangements is March 9. Restaurant deadline is March 17. You can still just come for the dinner and stay Saturday night. For those wishing to make it a weekend, feel free to come to NJ on Friday (April 9). The official reunion is Saturday, April 10. Hope to see you then!! |
