I found out about the website by browsing the internet. Occupation: Management & Program Analyst, Significant Other: Peter Greenfield

Memorable Times: Joann Harrison - I lost track of her and would like to correspond

Since High School: I've been working for the government since 1978. I am now working in the HQ Communications & Marketing team of IRS. I am learning how to create web pages, writing articles for our newsletter, etc. I work part-time since 1983 teaching religious school to 1st graders on Sunday. This part-time job relates to my degree in early childhood education from the University of Maryland. I am also a part-time thespian. I perform in community theater at Rockville Musical Theater and at Hexagon. Hexagon is a volunteer organization that sponsors a political, satirical musical revue every March. The money we make from the performances goes to a local charity like feeding the homeless. I take aerobics and am now in Masterworks chorus to keep up my singing hobby.

Future Plans: Don't have any right now.

Memorable Teachers: Mr. Gibbs because he had photos on the wall of famous hollywood movie stars from the 1930's and 1940's. He also had rigorous vocabulary tests where you had to memorize all the antonyms, synonyms and definitions of the word so that you could guess the correct word out of 20 vocabulary words. I've used these words throughout my life. He was also an eccentric person.

From: Peter Ferko Peterferko@aol.com (1974) Date: Sun, 22 Nov 1998 Subject: Thanksgiving Song

I wanted to thank everyone who has supported my musical endeavors this year, and to spread the word about holiday activities.

1st off, thanks a million to everyone who has come out to the shows-or even tried to come out. You have no idea how great it is to see your smiling faces come in the door. It's a major challenge to go out to an event-I know myself what a big deal it is to work some event into one's schedule-so I really appreciate your support!

The band has just finished recording a 9-song CD entitled, "Rearrange Time." I hope to have it pressed by Christmas. The CD has some of our favorite songs on it (Time Stands Still, Sudden, In Your Eyes, Homecoming Queen) and guest appearances by guitarist Barney Charlon and trumpeter Scot Bradley. I'll send word about a CD release party when it gets closer.

Finally, we are playing at the Bar (1416 U Street NW at 14th) near Adams Morgan/Dupont Circle on Friday, November 27 (day after Thanksgiving), 10-1:30. Please come dance off your Thanksgiving dinner!

Have a great holiday season-and don't miss the next episode!!

Peter

From: Steve Body swbody@bigfoot.com (1970) Date: Sun, 22 Nov 1998 Subject: missing persons

I realize anyone using this site must be missing a few people of their own, but I'd like to enlist the aid of members of the classes of '70, '71, or '72 to BOLO (Be On The Lookout; sorry, too many detective novels) for Steven A. Boone ('71). There are several of us who are looking for him and so far, we've come up dry. He lived in Aspen Hill through his graduation and was best man at my wedding in '73 in Roanoke, VA. Shortly thereafter, he moved to the Phoenix area and I lost track of him. He had exhibited some clear tendancies toward becoming a hermit in later life, so my inability to locate him doesn't come as too much of a surprise. If any alumni in Phoenix or Winslow could check their phone books, I'd be obliged. If you locate him, buzz me at the address shown and I'll...think good thoughts about you. Or give you money.

This is by no means a matter of life and death, so don't break a sweat over it. Several of his old friends are currently tormenting each other via E-mail and we'd simply like to abuse him, too. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

From: Neal Pizzano npizzano@erols.com Date: Mon, 23 Nov 1998 Subject: Multi-Class Reunion Committee

It's been mentioned in the past to a few, and many like the idea. Forming a Multi-class Reunion Committee. "Why?" To assist each other with reunion planning. Pool together ideas and resources to help our fellow alum in providing the best reunion they could possibly have.

Some may say, "But we don't need others telling us what to do!" That's NOT the purpose. The idea, is to create a body of alumni that would "assist" with the planning and research, that is, do what the committee can't, and come up with ideas on how the committee can. The class committee is always in charge and will determine to what extent help is needed. The idea is to have someone you can turn to if you do need help!

You don't HAVE to use the resource, but it can be there if needed. Some classes don't have time or money to put together a reunion, so, they depend on outside help, or pass on having a reunion.

Now is the time to create this committee in order to plan for the future. Believe it or not, several people from other classes are willing to assist you with your reunion.

If you wish to be a member of this newly formed collection of alumni, send me a notice accepting the position. A variety of class representations are best. Also, if you have any assets to bring to such a committee, please let them be known.

E-mail me at npizzano@erols.com

From: Neal Pizzano npizzano@erols.com Date: Mon, 23 Nov 1998 Subject: A Peary 5K-Run?

Well here we go again. The idea of having a Peary 5K (or 8K) run is again in the picture. Planning is essential and the Hebrew Academy is looking to work on this project. Actually, the Hebrew Academy wants to do a run, and has several people wanting to move forward with this project. If you are interested in planning a run, likely to be held in the fall of next year, let me know. I will get you in touch with the person or persons in charge at the academy. For now I am trying to solicit anyone's help in putting a race together. (Maybe it could be called the Peary-Berman Community Run.)

In the past, 8K and 5K "Robert E. Peary" races were sponsored by Human Opportunities Through Physical Education. They wound around the neighborhoods from Peary to Parkland. Now, together with the academy, we can help sponsor a community event as Peary Alumni.

If interested, contact me at npizzano@erols.com and I will get you connected.

From: Steve Steinberg STEVE012@EROLS.COM (1983) Date: Tue, 24 Nov 1998 Subject: PHS Building Update

I went on a walk through of the site yesterday. It's really moving along. Looks completely different. Vinyl siding, the classroom windows have been replaced with one square window - 3 total per classroom.

They have just moved into the auditorium and it is almost in perfect condition. I was there when power was restored for the first time. Almost all the electrical was intact and functioning. Someone tried to set fire to a few of the seats. Other than that, it's really in great shape compared to the rest of the building.

One other note, the Peary HS seal at the front door WILL remain in place and intact! We will have something there to see and remember when and if we go there to visit!

From: Patricia L. Toler PLToler@aol.com (1983) Date: Sun, 29 Nov 1998 Subject: Update

I found out about the website from my aunt, Elizabeth Brown Carter - Class of 1965, who originally told me about it. I have been keeping up with it ever since, periodically submitting articles and what not.

Occupation: Administrative-F/T : Self-employed-P/T, Significant Other: Jerome Kenneth Anceleitz, Children: Caitlin Brynn. 8 yrs of age. Born May 30, 1990. Is currently attending Watkins Mill E.S and is in the 3rd grade. She is an only child. Grandchildren: None at the moment..Too young to be a grandmother, hehehehe

Memorable Incidents: Senior Skip Day..I remember that my grandfather used to work at Peary while my sister, Rebecca Toler and I were attending and when we wanted to participate in senior skip day, we had to ASK him for permission to skip..I thought that was soo funny, at the time..

Since High School: Working mostly..I went to college for a short time but had to drop out due to lack of money. I went back to college in the fall of 1995 and finished my first year in 1996. I was unable to continue because once again, my finances were not what they needed to be in order for me to continue. I have been working as an Administrative Assistant. And I just recently decided to start an at home business in my spare time. I even had a webpage created in order to advertise.

Future Plans: Hopefully get all of my bills paid off and get my business of the ground and become a success. Get married to my fiance of 6 yrs

Memorable Teacher: I remember Mr. Hill. He compared me to my mother, Donna Brown. She was a poor math student. Mr. Hill knew who my family members were that attended Peary and he asked me point blank if I was going to be as bad a student as my mother..I had to laugh at that point because I did think it was funny. I then told him that I wasn't anything like my mother and that I would prove him wrong. I did..

I am in the process of trying to update the 1983 class mailing list. I have offered to assist the online coordinator in the hopes of getting a reunion organized. So, if the people who organized the 10-year Class Reunion could email me back and give me some pointers, it would be greatly appreciated..
