From: Patricia L. Toler PLToler1@aol.com (1983) Date: Sat, 31 Oct 1998 Subject: Putting together a Class Reunion for the Class of 1983 & locating missing classmates I have offered my help to assist with putting together a presentable reunion. My aunt, Elizabeth Brown Carter - Class of 1965, is working on a combination reunion now and from what she has told me, it is coming along nicely. Now for all of you who were in the class of 1983, if you wish, send your comments to me regarding suggestions for a reunion. Also, if anyone knows of any classmates that are missing, I would appreciate an update so that I may update my records. If need be, I will see what I can do to get the ball rolling in order for our class to have our 15th year reunion. If not, then we will probably have to wait another 5 yrs before we have another reunion. Do you want to wait that long? I don't. I know that I wasn't very popular in high school, but I believe that every one of us has grown up and grown past the pettiness that occurred during those formidable years. So, if any of you would like for our class to have a reunion, notify me, and I will see what I can do about getting something started. My email address is: PLToler1@aol.com ********** From: Donald Chabot dchabot@mxb.usuhs.mil (1979) Date: Sat, 31 Oct 1998 Subject: update Dear Classmates, Sorry, but I didn't think high school was so great. Maybe that's why I like Buffy the Vampire Slayer; it symbolically shows how dangerous high school can be. Anyway, there were enough wonderful people and random decencies to have made it tolerable. I am happily married with beautiful month old twins. I am finishing up a doctoral program in microbiology at the Uniformed Services University in Bethesda - focusing on AIDS research. My favorite teacher was Ms Tigani. She stayed with me after class until I could tell the difference between striated muscle and cardiac muscle and convinced me to become a microbiologist. We were in Orchestra class with Mr. Hallock conducting. The PA went on and all that was heard was a crackly radio transmission and someone talking about a man and woman lying on a grassy knoll. The resulting smirks were immediately replaced by tears as the news of Kennedy's shooting broke. The irony of the situation was that my next class was Civics where a quiz was scheduled. The quiz was on presidential succession. Since High School: "A little bit of this...a little bit of that...," including earning degrees at Montgomery College, UMd, service in military, couple of careers in business, and a continuing involvement with bagpipe bands as a performer, instructor, and contest adjudicator.
