Thanks for all your consistent and hard work on the newsletter. I love reading it. I went to Peary for 4 years - was the last Junior High class to go through the 6 year school - but transferred to Churchill to graduate in '71. Always felt Peary was my Home School. Went to the 30th reunion for '71 and loved every minute of it - was really like old home day!

I know alot of my classmates read the newsletter, so I wanted to let them know that my mother, Lotus Weiss, died of colon cancer November '97, and my dad Bob Weiss just had a successful lung cancer surgery August '98.

Thanks - Sharon Weiss Jones 1971

PEARY HS SPRING FLING! ALL PEARY ALUMNI

WHEN: April 10, 1999 - WHERE: Atlantic City, NJ

Any alumni who wishes to gather & reconnect with fellow Huskies and Huskiettes. Atlantic City is just 3-1/2 hrs. away from Rockville.

COORDINATOR: Robin Rosenberg Aiscowitz (Class of 1979) I will do all the logistics (place, cost etc).

If interested, contact Robin via e-mail @ beeq15a@prodigy.com or by phone: 609-484-9266 or by mail @ 84A Oxford Village, Egg Harbor Township, NJ 08234

I have been in touch with some of the hotels in the area. Some of the hotel prices have been a bit expensive, so it looks like I will investigate the ones in my neighborhood. I figured that people would not want to pay $200/night.

I have a favorite restaurant here in my neighborhood called East Bay Crab and Grille. They serve MD Blue Crabs by the way!! I spoke to the owner/manager and he could accommodate us since it's his off-season. Food is fresh and delicious and so are the drinks!! We do not have a Dave & Busters here.

My sister, Jody, who graduated in 1981 may be interested in coming to NJ for this if some other 81ers attend.

I am looking forward to doing this!!

Thank you, Robin

[Update October 10: The Spring Fling gathering point will be the Ramada Limited, which is closer to the action... 1.5 miles from Atlantic City proper. A block of rooms is being held for us.]

ANNOUNCING THE ARRIVAL OF: ZACHARY BRYCE CONNEEN

Born on: October 1, 1998 (2 weeks early!!) Time: 9:18pm Weight: 7 lbs., 5 oz. Length: 19 1/2 inches

Mommy, Daddy, and baby are home and doing fine. Mom went through 12 hours of labor before the doctors determined that a C-section was necessary! Stuck at 5 centimeters dilation for six hours and baby's very short umbilical cord proved impossible for a "regular" delivery. Of course, baby is adorable according to his parent's biased judgement......we sit and stare at him all day!!!

From: Ron Work ronwork@erols.com (1970) Date: Sat, 10 Oct 1998 Subject: Sherry Steiner Schenck

Sherry Steiner Schenck's, (she lived in Wheaton Woods and went to Peary with the class of '70 through the 10th grade), husband, Richard, is currently battling with a chronic form of leukemia. Fortunately, he is responding well to a course of treatment that was not available a short time ago.

As part of her personal effort to support the Leukemia Society's researchand several sick children she has met through Richard's treatment, she is attempting to raise $4,000 for the Leukemia Society. If she succeeds in raising this amount, she qualifies to participate on the Leukemia Society's race-walking team in a marathon in Hawaii in Richard's behalf. She has been training for this for six months. $4,000 is the amount that qualifies her to be flown to Hawaii by American Airlines and stay in a (Hilton, I think) Hotel. These are the corporate contributions to this event.

If you can find the room in your heart and your charity budget to contribute to yet another good cause, please send any tax-deductible donation to:

The Leukemia Society of America Team-in-Training c/o First Union Bank PO Box 421 Merrifield, VA 22116-0421

***Please notate her name and Acct #160-043 on your check so she will get credited for the amount raised.

Thanks for any support.

Ron

It is with great please that my husband and I wish to announce the marriage of my youngest daughter Jeannie Eileen Brown Jacobs Rhodes on September 14, 1998. Jeannie is online and her new husband is also, he graduated somewhere else. Also, I had rotator cuf (sp) reconstructive surgery on my right shoulder on September 14 and was unable to join in the witnessing of the nuptials. I am healing and doing well and of course my sister Eileen 65 submitted this little bit of news which I won't know about until the newspaper comes out in October I enjoy reading what everybody else is up to. Have a good month.
