I found the Peary site by surfing the web. Occupation: V.P. Business Development

Memorable Incident: Graduating !

Since High School: Joined the Army shortly after graduating Peary. Took the Airborne Ranger package, had a blast, decided to get serious about life. Did three years, got out and went to college in Boston. Started a career in telecommunications & data networking. Worked in healthcare I.T. market for a couple of years. Joined a networking company and have been there ever since. Have held numerous positions over the years, lived in Australia for 2.5 years, moved to Singapore for 1.5 years, back in NH working Business Development for enterprise and carrier markets. Love my work.

Future Plans: Stop traveling with work so much and build my dream house. Get married or get a really nice boat hmmmmm?

Memorable Teachers: Hmmm ? The two faculty members that stick out the most were probably Mason the hall Monitor and Dr. Dumais. Mason had the uncanny ability to know every move I made, whether it be coming in late or in most instances going home early. I seemed to go out of my way to attended numerous lectures by Dr Dumais....you know, he spoke....I listened. He was an ex-marine, convinced me that the military would be my best bet. Thank you for the sound advice sir.

I do have fond memories of the following teachers, Mr. Bragonier (only teacher that scared me) Mr Hill, Ms Hale and of course Ms Evan Farkas who really got through to me and set me straight. Thank you all for tolerating me.

Anyone knowing the whereabouts of Evan Farkas please email me, thank you.

Who says there's not life after 50!!!!

Future Plans: Get my daughter through HS and College... plan for retirement.

Memorable Teachers: Mr. Hill - home room teacher. Was a "real human being." Ed Burlas - wrestling coach - showed me determination. Melvin Weinstein - business department - inspiration and leadership.

I found out about this from Elizabeth LeVaca Laurienzo (1984).

Memorable Incident: Football games, wrestling matches, spending time with Stewart Cummings and Ilene Glassman.

Since High School: Graduated from Wheaton High School, which wasn't so bad. The Peary group pretty much stayed together. I took some college classes, moved to Florida twice, then ended up graduating from the U of MD. Got a job at Calvert Group, a socially responsible mutual fund company, in Bethesda (Elizabeth LeVaca Laurienzo, class of '84, works there too). I got married to Gary Cole, a Richard Montgomery/U of MD graduate, in 1993. In 1994, we adopted two ex-racing Greyhounds that live with us in our townhouse in Rockville. They are wonderful pets and we encourage others to look into them if they want dogs! I took a year of graduate classes at Johns Hopkins but put that off in 1996 to have our son Clayton Michael (born 11-14-96). I now work part-time at Calvert Group and have been an MBA widow while Gary is getting his masters at the University of Maryland.

Future Plans: After Gary graduates in May 1998, we will go to Hawaii for two weeks and celebrate. Hopefully, when he starts a new job, we will by a larger house (still in Woodley Gardens) with a big yard and then have more kids and get more dogs!

Memorable Teachers: Mr. Gibbs- He was so brilliant! Mr. Gardener as our cheerleading sponsor- He was so sweet and so wise.

Missing People? Ilene Glassman lives in Monrovia, MD. If anyone is interested, I can give updates on Scott Turner, Class of '82 and Shelley Turner Perini, Class of '84. Just e-mail me!

From: Seth Jason seth.jason@mailcity.com (1979) Date: Thu, 26 Mar 1998 Subject: Thanks for another great newletter...

I finally got married Nov 8th 1997. My wife Katherine works for the USDA in College Park. My wedding was a great reunion of my closest friends from Peary; Charlie Coffman (79), Stu Hanson (80) and our mentor, John Horvat from the Tech Crew.

I have also taken the position of House Electrician of the new MCI Center. I have been working on several WETA/PBS television shows, including the next "In Performance at The White House" which will air later this spring. Next for me besides the shows coming to MCI (Eric Clapton and Billy Joel) is the "Memorial Day Concert from the Capitol" with WETA the end of May.

Last spring I heard from Jay German (80) and Ron Tepper (79). Keep up the work in this site. I think it is the greatest.

From: Patsy Zukav no e-mail address (1984) Date: Fri, 27 Mar 1998 Subject: peary high -- of course!

Hi! I'm Patsy Zukav and I graduated from Peary in 1984. It's nice that you have a web page for alumni. Did you hear that the principal Doctor Dumais (doo-may) passed away? I never could find the obituary in the papers. It would be good to see it, and ones of other peary staff and alumni on your page for our information and as a tribute to all our departed friends. It is difficult to find out what happened to who!

To change the subject, I miss Peary alot. College wasn't as small and personal as high school. It would be great to have a picnic reunion of the classes of 1983 and 1984 (Peary's final years) along with the freshmen and Juniors who graduated in '85 and '86 in other schools after Peary closed. After all, we had friends in the older and younger classes, also! It would also be nice to have a wider choice of foods at future reunions. I personally prefer the classic plain fried chicken, hotdogs, & pepsi to spicy, exotic food. If my class sees this letter, I'd like to apologize for not coming to my class reunion in 1994. My father was having his final illness that year. However, I have thought about all of you. Are there any spare photos of that event?

At any rate, thank you for finding a way to bring us all together again -- even if there's no hotdogs! Say hello to Mr. Burlas for me. I'm using a library computer, so its no good to e-mail me. (I'm still practicing how to use the thing!) Just put my letter and your answer on your web page. Tell Mr. Burlas that I still live close to Peary. Bye now!

I found out about this from the Gazette. Occupation: Administrative Officer, Spouse: Timothy; Children: Jamie 18, Laura 13

Memorable Incident: If I had to pick only one, it would be graduation day.

Since High School: Went to Montgomery College. Married in 1975. Raising two daughters. Worked for FDA for 15 years and am currently working at NIH.

From: Shawna Napper Acker sacker@bowiestate.edu (1979) Date: Thu, 26 Mar 1998 11:45:47 -0500 (EST) Subject: Update

Occupation: Director-Graduate Admissions; Children: Corwin L. Acker II age 9, Cody L. Acker age 4 1/2

Memorable Incident: Not certain of an "incident" that stands out, but since I was a "Pommie," I will always remember competitions and slumber parties. One event that occurred that I will never forget is the death of our classmate, Kevin Lynch.

Since High School: Well, I graduated from Spelman College in Atlanta, GA and worked for a number of years as a personal trainer and fitness club manager. I decided to get a "real job" and began working as an administrator with various organizations. I soon ended up at Bowie State Univ., where I have acquired the position as Director of Graduate Admissions. I completed my master's degree at Bowie and am currently enrolled in the higher educ. Ph.D program at the University of MD. Oh yea, during this time, I got married, had 2 wonderful sons and then got separated. (Don't fret, the "ex" and I have a great relationship as long as we're not together.) *laugh*

My parents still reside in Rockville and when I'm in the neighborhood, I take occasion rides past good ole Peary High. I look forward to hearing from someone and am pleased as punch that this web site exists. Thanks!

Future Plans: To be happy, healthy and wise.

Memorable Teachers: Mr. William Thomas....how is he by the way? Although he was not one of my teachers, he was the faculty sponsor for the infamous Peary Pom Pon Squad....hooray! He was the kindest man, regardless of his gruff exterior. He always took care of his girls.

Mr. Boteler - something about him that I liked and I only had one class with him.

Ms. Boniuto (deceased) - Ms. B. was the sweetest teacher I had while at Peary. Although she was my Spanish teacher throughout high school, during my senior year I was her student aide and she was always very respectful and sincere. She had such a generous heart. I will always remember her.

Mr. Mastriani - he was the guidance counselor who sponsored the Peer Counseling group. We had a blast and he was so laid back. When no other teachers were around, we'd call him "Frank" and he didn't mind. Actually, that's what he signed in my year book. I enjoyed working with him, he treated us as "equals."

Mrs. Luck - Great lady! Helped me to enjoy algebra & geometry.

How found? An old friend re-discovered. Word of mouth. Occupation: Computer Network Administrator, Children: Just me and my dog...... Jake

Memorable Incident: In 1974, Peary was the extreme underdog going into a game with Weaton H.S. In interviews with several Wheaton players.... they stated "Peary was so bad, we should not have to play them." The week before the game was quiet, and emotional... hell, even Smook spoke very little. We went on to beating them... even had a lineman intercept a pass off their glorified quarterback. the place was nuts, and all Cino could say to us afterwards in the locker room, was "That no matter what else happens to us in our lives, we would always remember this moment." He was right. I saved all the newspaper clippings that game, and to this day.... every once in awhile... look back. and...... Almost getting up the nerve to ask Janice Applegate to dance. God, she was a fox.

Since High School: Navy, married-divorced, recovered from alcoholism, career in computers, now... single & dog. :) BS degree in Fine Arts Photography.

Future Plans: Don't worry, be happy. Find a woman and settle down!

Memorable Teachers: Coach Cino for helping me to grow up... Coach Black, for telling me to grow up... and Mr Lynam, for allowing me to be a kid.

Memorable Teacher: Sam Belcher, Industrial Arts. Worked with him part-time in home remodeling. Have remained good friends with him and his wife all these years.

I found out about the website from the Gazette Article. Occupation: Management Analyst

Memorable Incident: I remember the most, all the times Wheaton and RMHS students trashed Peary football field by running trucks and cars over it.

Since High School: For the last nine years or so I've been working at Tracor Systems Technologies in Rockville as an Analyst. I work on a program that supports the SQQ-89 sonar for the Naval Sea Systems Command.

Memorable Teachers: Mr. Clarke-probably because he was the funniest; Also Mr. Hill-he gave students alot of good advice.

Request: I believe there was a group picture of English Manor Peary students taken at the ten year reunion. Does anybody happen to have an extra copy? If you do and can think of it-let me know. Thank you very much.
