INTRODUCTION

Greetings Huskies!

SYMPATHIES: Our prayers go out to the Mathieu family. Bill Mathieu, father of Stephen (19xx), Philip (1979), and Darlene Burris (1977), passed away February 18. Philip is online with us at pmathieu@atlantech.net. Mr. Mathieu is survived by his wife, Marge, his children, and five granddaughters.

PILLSBURY BAKE-OFF: From Ron Work (1970)..... Dorothy Crow, mother of Alec (1970) and Ernie (?), was a $2,000 winner in this year's Pillsbury Bake-Off in Orlando. Much of Ernie's family (he, his wife, and others) were part of the group of 100 semi-finalists invited to Florida to prepare their recipes.

MOM'S TALK: Congratulations to Lynne Keady Galletti (1978) and her co-hosts! Mom's Talk (WFMD 930AM, Thursdays, 9:00a) expands to television beginning March 30, weekly, on NewsChannel 8 (cable) on a trial basis. Stay "tuned" for further details! Hope you caught the Baltimore Sun article Listen to Your Mothers in Sunday (2/15) Maryland Section. WJZ-TV and CNN will be covering the Mom's Talk phenomenon too!

CONGRATS: To Lisa Huntington Padilla (1975) who recently participated in the Beaux Arts Festival. Some of her paintings are posted online. Also, congratulations to Kathy Anderson Folkes (1975) who brought Brandon Thomas (7 lbs, 1 oz) into the world January 21!

GLORY AND HONOR: Catch the story of Matthew Henson and Peary's North Pole expedition on TNT. World premiere Sunday March 1 at 8pm (ET).

PEARY WRESTLERS: Stuart Kushner is coordinating a possible get-together for all former wrestlers and anyone interested in attending and lending a hand. Contact Stuart at skushner@progoffice.com with your interest, and include your contact info as well as any info you have on others who might like to attend. On the same note, Coach Duane Black will be inducted into the Maryland Coaches Hall of Fame at the state wrestling tournament on March 7th at Westminster College (Westminster, MD). Many are planning to attend this ceremony. Start time is believed to be 4:30. Thanks to Kevin Brooks (1976) kfbrooks@aol.com and Jim Keady (1977) for passing this information along, and congratulations to Coach Black!

WEBSITE: There are now 1,331 classmates online with us... lately we've been welcoming an average of 100+ new alums aboard each month. Thanks to everyone for continuing to spread the word! Thank you to Jim (1984) and Marci Anderson Carr (1986) for submitting our URL to about 250 additional search engines for us! Not sure how prestigious an award it is, but click a vote for us the next time your at the website for the Starting Point hot site listings! Thank you to those of you who have recently sent financial donations to support the website, notably alums from the Class of 1973. It is highly appreciated, and assists in ensuring that this project will continue! Also, a thank-you to Mr. Burlas, who recently donated his compilation of Peary Sports MVPs that will be formatted and placed online shortly.

ALUMNI UPDATES: Don't forget to submit an update with your class-specific online form the next time you pull up the Peary site. Not only does this let everyone know you're around, but this information is entered into the master student database of all 10,700+, maintained by Neal Pizzano (1976), and is used to contact you for reunions and other class activities.

PHOTOS: As you're aware, the Peary site is "photo-heavy" and adds to the load times for many pages. But, as many of you have expressed your enjoyment of these, if you keep supplying them, we'll keep posting them! Thank you for sharing them with everyone, and thanks to Ken Roseman (1969) who continues to snap photos and record these moments for us. Thanks to Dave Alde (1969) for getting our Husky and photo "identifiers" made up for us at all the events!

ROCKY MOUNTAIN GATHERING: The Colorado All-Class Reunion/Soire will be held on Saturday March 21 at Dave and Busters in Denver. All details and directions are available online. Questions or comments.... contact coordinators, Janet Peters (1980) -  jpeters600@aol.com and Ron Bostwick (1977) - ronsroom@cmn.net

ACADEMY AWARDS: Want to participate in Ron Bostwick's Annual Academy Awards Contest? Write to Ron at ronsroom@cmn.net for an entry form! Also, for cyber fanatics who use RealAudio, you can hear Ron's radio broadcasts live at KFMU.COM, Mon-Fri (Mountain Time).

CLASS OF 1968: Contact Chris Smith at jcs@ix.netcom.com about the class reunion to be held late summer or early fall, and check the website for updates as they become available.

REUNIONS IN 1998: Along with the announcement about reunion plans for 1968 this year, plans for 1973 and 1978 are already in progress. Any leads you have on "missing persons" for these classes (lists online) would be appreciated. We have received no word about reunion plans for 1963 or 1983. The Class of 1966 50th Birthday Bash in June should be a blast... those of you who are participating (only those who responded) should already have your information and all the details! Pre-planning has begun for the Class of 1969 30-year Reunionsee Ken Roseman's article in this issue.

Articles for the next issue of the Midnight Sun Online are due Saturday, March 21st. Hope to hear from more of you by then to let us know what you've been up to all these years! See you again... in the spring (despite what the groundhog says)!
