I found out about this through one of my ole classmates, Mike Gantz. Occupation: Info. Spec. for Hearing Impaired/Data Tech Children: Ryan - 9 1/2 years old

Memorable Incident: Just missed being young and having fun!

Since High School: I went to Mont. College for a year then had to work to support the family for awhile. Then in 1986, got married and lived in Gaithersburg. I have been working for National Clearinghouse for Alcohol and Drug Information since 1985. Our son was born in 1988 (right after 1983 - 5 yr. reunion!) Then our marriage went sour back in 1992 and there is still battlezone going on today.

Future Plans: Will be getting DIVORCE and want to move on and get on with my life! Hopefully someday that I would be able to get married again (or possibly live together) and would love to have one or two more kids!

Would love to move into countryside and live in peace to get away from the stressful cities! (Arugh!)

Memorable Teachers: Got into trouble with Mr. Horvat and sent me to the principal's office for the first time! (That was about a week right before my graduation day!)

Missing People: I do still contact with a few of ole classmates once in a while.... will let you guys know about these classmates when I pass this information out to them and let them pass their news to you guys! Smile!

Would like to contact any of 1983 ole classmates, please keep me update post of 1981-1985 classmates from Peary! Would like to know about Jim Conte, Joe Nottingham, David Broadbent, James Broadbent, Steve Berney, David (Brice) Queen, Jamie Fox, Kevin Peacon, Laura DeMarsis (?), Billy Cunningham, Kevin Weaver, Chris Rice, Damone...there's more but cannot remember them all! Would like to know how they are and where they are??? Smile.

From: Eileen Brown Carter ecarter236@aol.com (1965) Date: Wed, 18 Feb 1998 Subject: Hello everybody

Just a quick note to let those of the class of 65 know, glad everybody is getting online. Seeing all the young ones already online makes me feel so old because I have a daughter that was born about the time the class of 71 was graduating. Hope the other members of the class write up articles and let us know what's going on in their lives in the MSO because the submittal form is only seen by the online coordinators and we not allowed and its for the best to give out "personal information." Jimmy Brown (63) doing real well in a new department in his job, Donna (66) getting along good and says hi to everybody in the class. Patty Toler (83) getting ready to start a new job after being unemployed for eight months... her twin Becky (83) is doing fine, and finally, Jeannie (85 and the other school) is doing well. That's all for now.

Occupation: Law Student/Staff Specialist, Fiancee: Chamarella

Since High School: Working for various legal and financial enterprises as well as attending law school at Texas Southern University.

Future Plans: Marriage in 1999. Graduation from law school. Continue working in the legal department of Contintal Airlines until establishing my own practice. Own/operate a small chain of barber shops and a night club.

Memorable Teacher: Carrie Luck... Pearls of Wisdom.

How's everyone? I just wanted to say hello and invite you to drop some email. I've been so busy I haven't used this thing in months. But now it's time to jump back into it. Law school is on hold this semester. I'm sidelined with a bum hip... In fact, I'm having it replaced next Wednesday (2/25). I have the rest of the semester to recover, so I'll be sending email out like a madman. I'm still working for Continental Airlines so, if anyone wants to get together, let me know and I'll hook it up. What's everyone been up to? I'm down here in Houston in my own world. By the way, I just got engaged... third time's the charm (I hope). Her name is Chamie. She's also attending law school here - and works with me at Continental's corporate headquarters. In case anyone needs one, I have a closet full of engagement rings at bargain basement prices. Maybe they'll work out better for you. I'm through looking... I'll keep this one. George

[George... we expect to see you jumping hurdles in the morning]

From: Chris Smith jcs@ix.netcom.com (1968) Date: Fri, 20 Feb 1998 Subject: Class of '68 Reunion

Just got a call from Jeremy Mathis, one of my classmates from '68, reminding me that it's been 30 years this year. We'll have a reunion. Us old guys just get a slow start on these things. I'll round up the usual suspects (Les Greenberg, Terry Plant, Lorraine O'Hara, and anyone else who wants to get involved) and we'll whip something together for late summer/early fall.

Spread the word on the reunion (and my email address) on the website, which, by the way, is terrific.

Thanks! Chris Smith

From: Eileen Brown Carter ecarter236@aol.com (1965) Date: Fri, 20 Feb 1998 Subject: Thanks for the responses

Thanks class of 65 for responses and sorry if I didn't send my request and sorry if my request didn't get to your site. Got a lot of errors back from the network people saying some of the email addresses do not work.. don't know if it is AOL or if it's your emails. Anyway, how about some input online in reference to having a reunion sometime in the spring of the year 2000 and how about some ideas on where when what type and help locating missing classmates. There are only 22 listed in the email section and I notice there is only one listed with Neal who does not have email and at least two that I have but do not have emails. My computer is capable of sending and receiving faxes if you want to go that way 301-460-2897. Well keep everybody up-to-date of your happenings.

From: Jim Douglas James_Douglas@fc.mcps.k12.md.us (1975) Date: Fri, 20 Feb 1998 Subject: Update

After living almost my entire life in Aspen Hill, I moved to Olney with my wife Tracey, and our two daughters, Stephanie (8) and Taylor Marie (6).

After spending 17 years teaching biology, coaching wrestling, and sponsoring the poms at Whitman, I am now the Athletic Director at Sherwood. It's great to have Mr. Black on my staff. My office is right by the wrestling room. No true midlife crisis yet (a convertible would be nice), but I am thinking about chopping the top off of my old 69 Impala. Only eleven more years until I get to "graduate" from high school again. I am pretty sure that I am retired from coaching, except for the sports that my girls play. I think about Mr. Boyd, Mr. Clarke, and Mr. Steele every day because their teaching styles shaped mine. There's nothing Miss Barnes could have done to help me with the German I tried to teach to keep my job one year. Come see me at the regional wrestling tournament at Sherwood on the 27th and 28th or at the state's on the 6th.

I found out about this from my sister Marsha / Class of '68. Occupation: Building Engines, Spouse: Frances, Children: Andrea Bandler 16, New Baby Girl Bandler -5 months, 7/?/98; Grandchildren: Over my dead body

Memorable Incident: Waking up and realizing that I had actually graduated

Since High School: Military (joined with Mike Quigley) marriage, children, divorce, work, raising my daughter as a single parent while trying to date the entire single female population of Montgomery County and finally marrying the most wonderful and intelligent woman who I could get drunk. Just kidding. And ....still making babies at age 42.

Future Plans: Living long enough to see my daughter have a teenager who will make her life a living hell!!!!

Memorable Teachers: Mr. Hill for his humor, warmth and wisdom. Mrs. Luck for her humor and putting up with me. Mr. Benson for his guidance and friendship.

Missing People? I think Paul Murrin is a Math professor at a University in La. I will attempt to locate him

Looking forward to seeing everybody, er most everybody.

I found the MSO through Lynn Janashek Boyd (1975). Occupation: Mary Kay Beauty Consultant, Spouse: Jeff, Children: Brand new BABY BOY!!! Brandon Thomas Folkes - Born 01/21/98 7 lbs., 1 oz. (Thomas is after my brother, who passed away Jan. of '96. He was in the class of '70.)

Memorable Incident: One day during our Sophomore year, I remember rehearsing in the choral room on the risers. We were humming in harmony to "Silent Night" ... with the lights out. I almost couldn't get through it, it was so beautiful! (I wish I could find that arrangement. Guess I'll have to see Mike at Wheaton HS.)

Since High School: I'm married (almost 5 years) with a new baby - at "40" I've also done four static-line parachute jumps.

Future Plans: Enjoy motherhood for a while. Also, establish my "full-time" Mary Kay career, so I can be home for my son.

Memorable Teachers: MICHAEL PEERLESS — I loved Acappella & Madrigals. I guess that's why I'll always feel closest to him. He wrote in my Senior yearbook that whenever he felt like quitting, he'd look at me for encouragement. I'll never forget that!

At the 20-year reunion, I think they should have made the contest for "Married the shortest time" just for 1st-time marriages. (I might have won.)

I found out about this from my aunt, Eileen Brown Carter Class of 1965.

Occupation: Administrative Assistant/Bookkeeper Fiance: Jerome Kenneth Anceleitz

Children: I have one daughter. Her name is Caitlin B. Jump, she is 7 yrs old. She will be 8 yrs old, May 30th.

Since High School: I got married, divorced and engaged. I had a little girl in May. Her father left me 2 1/2 years later for someone younger and prettier. 3 years after he left, I met my fiance. We have been together for 5 years. I also went back to college. I need one more year of school in order to finish my computer degree.

Future Plans: Get married. Finish my degree. Have my bills paid off in 5-10 years.

Memorable Teachers: Mr. Bragonier. He was a great teacher with a fabulous sense of humor. I also remember Mr. Hill. He had it in his head that I was exactly like my mom. (He was her teacher as well). He found out that I was actually a pretty good student. Too bad he had to learn the hard way.

When I got married while in college, my married name was Sharlitt. I didn't change my name after I got married. I wanted to use my maiden name. If everything goes okay, I will be getting married sometime in June. My fiance and I are going to settlement on February 25, 1998. We are in the process of buying a condo.

My daughter, Caitlin, has to have her tonsils taken out. She is suffering from chronic tonsilitis. She will probably have it done sometime in mid-March or early April. About 3-4 weeks from now.

I started a new full time job. Funny enough, I got this job because I worked there as a temp. Apparently, my boss was impressed with the work that I did while I was there.

Everyone in the family is doing okay. Except for my grandfather, Mr. Brown (the building service worker). He is in the hospital again.

Well, I guess that is all for now. I would encourage any classmates from 1983, to e-mail me. Let me know what is going on since graduation. Also, if the on-line class coordinator would like some help in planning any future gatherings, I will be more than happy to offer my assistance.

Bye for now.

From: Ken Roseman kenroseman@dclink.com (1969) Date: Sun, 22 Feb 1998 Subject: Update/RPHS '69 30th reunion

Lots of excitement on the Roseman front, including...I now have an e-mail address!! In other news, I just attended the 1998 "North American Folk Music and Dance Alliance" conference which was held in Memphis, TN Feb. 11- 15. The "Folk Alliance" is a trade association of people involved with folk/roots music and dance. Among the people who attended the conference were performers, agents, managers, venue operators (nightclubs, coffeehouses, arts centers), festival organizers, print and electronic media representatives, record company representatives, and music fans. I moderated an "interest group" on "Anglo-Celtic Folk and Folk-Rock" which attracted a diverse and stimulating audience. One of the great drawing cards of "Folk Alliance" conferences is the opportunity to hear performers from North America and elsewhere at "showcases." JAMS came all the way from Germany and play creative arrangements of polka and other dance tunes. Balfa Toujours is a great contemporary cajun roots band and those of you who enjoy Anglo-Celtic folk music should watch out for Anam, a new Irish/Scots group.

"MUSICHound" is a series of reference books devoted to various kinds of music. The series already includes books covering country, blues, rock, and "movie soundtracks." Right now, final work is being done on their next volume "MUSICHound Folk" to which I contributed 10 entries. Yup, I'm going to be in a real book!! This will be published around June of this year.

D.C. area residents can also find my work in "Washington City Paper." I contribute occasional event preview blurbs to the "City Lights" page.

Yes, it's true!! Preliminary discussions have begun regarding the RPHS Class of '69 30th reunion!! One scenario looks something like this: a weekend in October '99—Friday night: informal gathering at bar/restaurant (where out of towners would be staying), Saturday afternoon: outdoor activity (picnic/other), Saturday night: dance party (w/live music!!) at the old RPHS gym (as you know, the "Hebrew Academy" has signed a twenty year lease for the building and renovation work has begun. They could well be finished by fall '99 and we could be the first class to have a reunion event at the old building!!), Sunday morning : informal breakfast gathering at hotel where out of towners are. Comments? suggestions? e-mail me at the above address.

Does anybody else from the classes of '68, '69 (earlier?) remember a history teacher named John Stewart? He was very tall and I believe had lost an arm. He treated the students like adults and was one of the best teachers I experienced at Peary. I'm sure he's fairly old by now, but I'd really like to know if he's still around and how he is.

Are any other alumni devotees of Anglo-Celtic folk and roots music (Fairport Convention, Steeleye Span, Richard Thompson, Alan Stivell, Silly Wizard, Billy Bragg, Oysterband, Capercaillie, Moving Hearts)?

I would like to once again thank Neal and Bob for all the work they've done (and continue to do) for RPHS alumni and staff. This continues to be the most amazing grass roots phenomenon I've ever seen!!

From: Christina Swift Dodd dodda@ptw.com (1979) Date: Wed, 25 Feb 1998 Subject: Update

Hi! I love this web site and the newsletters! I think Laura Bowen was the one who told me about the site.

After graduation, I went to Georgia Tech on an Air Force ROTC scholarship. After two years of Chemical Engineering, I decided the Air Force didn't need another Chem Eng. I transferred to Univ of Maryland and got a degree in Computer Science. While at Georgia Tech, I met a great guy. Alex and I were married in July 1982.

I served in the Air Force in San Antonio, TX and Omaha, NE. During that time, Alex joined the Air Force and is a pilot flying "heavies." This past year he graduated from Test Pilot School. We currently live at Edwards AFB, California which is in the Mojave desert! I LOVE not having to shovel snow!

I am a stay-at-home mom of three: Paula (9), Laura (7 1/2), Joey (4). We love to travel. So far Greece has been my favorite country visited, Morocco my least-favorite. Last June I went on a pilgrimage to Medjugorje (in Bosnia) and had an awesome time! This year my husband has agreed to go with me. So in May, his parents will watch the kids while we go to Bosnia, then a few days in Rome! I would appreciate any sightseeing tips!

Every summer, we try to return home (Maryland) and have a family reunion at Bethany Beach for a week. Dave (also 1979) and his wife, Ann, live on Long Island and have two preschoolers. Jennifer (1981) is married for the second time and resides in Dallas, TX in between cruises and jetting around the world. Her two sons live with her ex-husband in Germantown. Steve (1984) graduated with a Ph.D. a year ago and is currently between jobs. He hopes to stay in California. My kids love having "Uncle Steve" visit! (Alex and I do too!) Not too many people want to visit when you live in the desert!

Laura Bowen (1979), husband, and kids are moving to North Carolina this summer. June Steele (1980) has two kids and lives in Lubbock, TX.

Has anyone heard from Margo Fitzpatrick? We used to run into each other at U MD, after we both transferred there, and were taking the same classes. How about Janice Bailey? There are so many people I would love to see and never enough time! Does anyone remember Shirley Taylor? She had to move to Europe at the beginning of our senior year. I've kept in touch with her. Her husband is in the Air Force and they live near Dayton, Ohio.

How about Michael Thorpe (1980)? I saw him summer 1996 but he moves every 8-12 months and never leaves a forwarding address. Michael, at least give me your e-mail address! I hope the Class of 1979 has a reunion next year.

Thanks to everyone who works on this web site!
