I also remember Mrs. Luck since she made me sit at her desk in front of the class because she said I have, "constipation of thought and diarrhea of the mouth!!" I also remember Mr. Steele my chemistry teacher because he was the only teacher who ever told me that I would be successful. Thanks!

Missing People? Lisa Puhl Mohler works with me at Westat. She lives a block or two from me in the Kentlands in Gaithersburg. Beth Clearfield Lustig moved to New Jersey. Her parents live in DC. From: Steve Gordon sgordon138@aol.com 1983 Date: Sat, 6 Dec 1997 Subject: Update

I found this website just surfing the web...it is great!!

Since HS: Graduated from the University of Delaware in 1987 (everyone thought I was going to the University of Florida, but I couldn't get housing). Delaware was fun, and I was there with some other Peary alumni (Ian Paragol, Beth Shaplin, Luanne Murphy). I received my MBA from George Washington in 1990. I worked in banking for eight months after graduating from Delaware, but I hated it. I went to work for the Government, which is something I vowed never to do. I started out with the Treasury Department and stayed until June 1990, when I transfered to the Navy (as a civilian). I am currently a senior contracts negotiator working on the STANDARD Missile program. This is a good assignment given that my program is one of the few defense programs where funding has been increased instead of being cut. I am the Senior negotiator for the STANDARD Missile program.

I currently live in Rockville in the Shady Grove area. I haven't seen or heard from many alumni though. Richie Newman ('83) took a job out in San Diego as a Naval architect a few years back, and Robert Hahm ('83) was working for DuPont up in Delaware. I thought I recognized someone in Buffalo Billiards a few months ago (I think it was Krista Young, Class of 84), but I wasn't 100% sure. I think she recognized me because we kept staring at each other. I would like to know how to locate her if anyone knows.

Favorite Teachers: Has to be Mr. Hill ("Mr. Gordon, this eraser has your name on it"; "Mr. Gordon, you're like a lost ball in high weeds"). He was the best and I enjoyed being in his classes (even when he sent me to room 151X). He made class fun and he truly cared about his students. Also, Mr. Black. I was his aide and he was a great help to me on my computer programs for Mr. Myers's class. Mr. Clarke who made history come to life. Also, Mr DeCamp who tried and tried but couldn't get me to admit that Physics was Phun. I tormented that poor guy for 3 years.

Memorable Incidents: Getting thrown off of doing the AM and PM announcements after reading a prank message for the "Find Dave Leith a Friend Campaign." I think Mrs. Lewis wanted to have me hung for that.

When Mike Krizmanich, Dave Leith, Pat Connolly, and Mark Lewis gathered up all the For Sale signs in the area and put them up in my yard.

Missing People? Rich Newman was working in San Diego for a Shipbuilder a few years back. Robert Hahm was working for DuPont in Delaware a few years ago.

From: Barbara Dentz Riley timm@erols.com (1971) Date: Sat, 06 Dec 1997 Subject: Friends of Dan Foundation

Dear Fellow Alums,

As you may be aware on Sunday, October 12, 1997, Dan Haynos, 43 years old, and member of the Class of 1971, died at his home in Frederick, Maryland. Dan lost a valiant fight against an agressive brain tumor which was diagnosed in May of 1996. At that time, he underwent brain surgery which left 50% of his body paralyzed. In spite of major surgery, radiation and chemo treatments, he finally surrendered. Throughout his ordeal, Dan was an inspiration to all around him.

Dan left behind his loving wife Gretchen and 4 wonderful children, Joanie 14, Robby 12, Katie 10 and little Daniel 6.

In spite of Dan's courageous efforts to return to a normal routine, he was unable to work for the remaining year and one half of his life. These circumstances have created a great financial need for his family.

It was important to Dan that his family be able to remain in their current home in Frederick.

A committee of concerned friends of Dan's family has organized an effort to address this financial need. If enough people step forward and help us, we will be able to relieve Gretchen and her children of their burden. To this end, we are asking friends and family for a one time only effort.

Checks should be made payable to Saint Mary's Church with the notation "In Memory of Dan Haynos". Mail your check to Friends of Dan, St. Mary's Church, P.O. Box 409, Barnesville, MD., 20858. One of the "Friends of Dan" will be calling to confirm your ability to help us with this most worthy cause.

Sincerely,

Bo Bragaw, Co-Chairman Brian K. Coakley, Co-Chairman the "Friends of Dan Committee" and Tim and Barbara Riley, Peary Alumni members of the "Friends of Dan Committee"

From: John Hauprich cove@millervaneaton.com (1977) Date: Tue, 9 Dec 1997 Subject: Update

My entire family graduated from Peary High School with the exception of my middle sister. I know that sounds like small potatoes compared to the Cannon family.

Matt - '70, Karen - '71, Marcia - '73 (Wheaton HS), Jeanne - '76, John (me) - '77, Daniel - '79

All of my siblings live in Montgomery County. Dan and Marcia live in Damascus, Matt in Derwood, Karen and Jeanne in Gaithersburg. All have families and I've got lots of nieces and nephews. Suzanne and I have no children of our own, although she has a 26 year old in Laguna Beach California. She and I live across the Chesapeake Bay on Kent Narrows and both work in downtown DC. I know some would say we're nuts for making the commute. Come visit sometime and I'm sure you'd agree I'm crazy like a fox.

After making a dismal appearance for about a year at Maryland Univ., I bolted and joined the Coast Guard. I was shipboard for about a year, but with 133 crew squeezed into only 327 feet of ship, the Love Boat it wasn't. Spent four years flying Search and Rescue on helicopters and decided after falling out of the sky twice, I wouldn't wait around for a third time (three's a charm).

I've worked in the computer business since and am currently a junior exec with a small manufacturing corporation out of Beltsville specializing in the repair of HP printers and toner remanufacturing.

Suzanne and I would like to eventually move to the Florida Keys and open a boat and breakfast.

I'd like to say Hello to Mr. Warwick Hill. I believe that he had the greatest impact on my life. I know that others have said the same, but he always set a tremendous example of fortitude and the best parts of human nature. I'd love to hear from some classmates.

Now, I got a degree in computer science ... and I blast bits all day integrating nasty hardware to even nastier programs.

Future Plans: Got a wife, guess I should get cracking on the kids thing. Will do a concert by the end of '98.
