INTRODUCTION

Greetings Huskies!

Congrats to Paula Marshall (1982) whose new series "Cupid" can be seen this fall on ABC, Saturdays at 10:00pm. Paula stars in this romantic comedy as Dr. Claire Allen. The series is produced by Scott Winant, who produced "My So-Called Life" and "thirtysomething." As you may already know, Paula guest starred in Seinfeld, NBC's "Chicago Sons," ABC's "Spin City," and with Bette Midler in the feature film "That Old Feeling." Congratuations, Paula, keep up the good work — we'll be watching! Also congrats to Lynne Keady Galletti and her radio and cable show, Mom's Talk, for joining CBS This Morning again as one of the show's regular consultants/guests.

RACE FOR THE CURE: It's not too late to participate in this June 6th (next Saturday) benefit! Beth Leimbach Swanson (1966) is a 17-month breast cancer survivor. More information is available online about how you can participate in this annual DC event and help find a cure for cancer. All Pearyites are encouraged to by Beth to participate in this 5K walk/run.

REUNIONS: The Class of 1968 is holding its 30-Year Reunion on Saturday, September 26, 1998 at the Bethesda Hyatt. The Class of 1973 25-Year Reunion will be held the weekend of June 26, and the Class of 1978's 20-Year Reunion will be held the weekend of August 7. Information about these events are online. The Class of 1969 continues its plans for next year's 30th Reunion, and preliminary planning has started for the joint 1963/1964/1965 Reunion in the year 2000! Each of these classes has already begun an intensive "missing persons" search, and could use your help in tracking down classmates, siblings, and/or other contact info.

BIRTHDAY PARTIES: The Class of 1966 50th Birthday Bash will be held June 12-14th. Denny Dennewitz needs your cruise survey to tailor the plans Class of 1966 Cruise plans! If you did not send your payment to attend the Birthday Bash, as Gale said, "You snooze, you lose." Reservations and payment were due two weeks ago. Don't attempt to crash it either... these events cost money for the food and rooms and ammenities. In other words, you won't be let in!

The Class of 1976 40th Birthday Get-together will be held on Saturday June 6th at the Outta the Way Cafe in Derwood, MD. ALL Peary alumni are welcome to attend — you're on your own as far as costs with what you order that night. Please use the online RSVP form at the website to sign-up — we DO need a headcount for Outta the Way Cafe that night. Assisting us with this event at Outta the Way is partner/owner, Gerry D'Ascoli (1980).

DUANE BLACK: Coach Black was inducted into the Maryland Coaches Hall of Fame on March 7th. Lynn Keady Galletti's (1978) apologies — the photos of Coach Black receiving his award did not turn out too well. But what we DO have will be posted soon. An attendee list is available online, in the meantime.

COLORADO GATHERING: As you're aware from the last newsletter, the photos of this Rocky Mountian Peary Reunion this past March in Colorado did not turn out! A list of attendees and the details of the party will be posted shortly.

GAZETTE.NET: Check out the article on the website about our effort here and the efforts being made to maintain our alma mater from the March 25 issue of the Gazette (Aspen Hill/Rockville edition) with input from Elliott Chabot (1973), Neal Pizzano (1976), and Ed Burlas (Faculty).

ARCHIVES UPDATE: The 24-years-worth of Polaris yearbooks are still undergoing archiving. After I took a short break from the project, it is again underway. Yes, it's been a long time since this endeavor was started.... but yikes, we're looking at thousands and thousands of pages of photos and text! Nonetheless... beta testing of the first CDs can be expected by the end of summer. As far as the other long-term project... archiving ALL of the original Midnight Sun newsletters... let's get through the yearbooks first! Thanks for your patience! If I still have your yearbook, it's being well-cared for and it will be returned to you as soon as the initial archiving process is complete.

Articles for the next issue of the Midnight Sun Online are due Saturday June 20. Submit your articles and news items directly online when you visit the home page.

Have a wonderful summer folks!
