For many of us, John was a key figure during those days. It was for me as I met my friends and spent much of my free time working on school activities like the stage and shows, school games, and assemblies. John inspired all of us to work very hard to produce flawless shows. He did not have to point out our mistakes, we knew them and worked hard to correct them on our own. I remember him grading our performances and how hard we worked to make it perfect the next time. No one of us ever "mailed it in". Most of us took aide classes in the auditorium. (I still have a scar from auditorium baseball.) Most of you have no idea what took place in that auditorium, and since John kept his job and we all were allowed to graduate, I guess no one in authority ever found out. He was a lot of fun. He managed the old "Rockville Drive-In" where some of us worked our summers or just went with dates or groups on the weekends. Some of my best High School memories happened at that drive in. (Many cold beverages were consumed there). Try taking a date and finding a place to park where your friends (who are looking to surprise you in your car with flashlights) can't find you. I was in Hawaii when he passed away and missed the funeral. I just wanted to say I will never forget him. ********** From: Jimmy Wampler (1970) Date: Sat, 3 Dec 2005 Subject: Update I found out about the website from my brother. I just wanted to update you all on a few things. First, happy holidays and happy almost 2006. It's been really nice being in touch with my old classmates. So, onto some news. I recently finished my musical comedy short film and will hopefully be having a screening in MD sometime this coming year. I did produce it and star in it alongside of another lady. We also wrote it. And, yes, I sang. And, no I can't sing! :) But, I went into the recording studio and really did it. I can't tell you if it was on key or not; you'll have to wait for the film. Mark Frank, from Rockville, did all the original music! He's done music for all three of my films! And, he's so very talented!! I'll keep you all posted on festival information. We are been asked into two festivals but until they officially release their lineup, I can't say anything. (but, I can't keep a secret for long!!) A short film I produced entitled "Jewz N the Hood" screened at the Annapolis film festival a couple of months ago. I didn't go but I understand it got a great response. That film has been well received all over. I also produced "Queer Eye for the Homeless Guy" and that has also been in a few festivals. Jewz however, has gotten into many more. I am now in pre-production, finally, for my feature film "Chase the Rain." I guess you can call it pre-pre production because funds are still being raised. But, I decided to stop waiting for someone to come along with a magic wand and do this for me, so I have started the process. It turns out; the director on board is also from MD. and we are looking into several locations back home. That excites me because I would love more than anything to have a bunch of you be in the film as extras!! This coming year will be a busy one for me, and I'm really looking forward to it. If you are interested in what we need for the film (i.e. locations, extras, etc.) please drop me a line. We are looking for restaurants, karaoke bar, houses, and most importantly, a lake with cabins. That's the one we are having the hardest time finding. I of course, want to build cabins on Lake Needwood, but it's not in the budget. Hahahh...So, please drop me a line. There will be a lot of great stuff happening from this film. I will also send you a copy of the script if you'd like to read it. We will be getting local crew from MD/VA as well. So, let me know if you have special film skills.. Yes, this is a paying gig :)and I would really be overjoyed to have some of you as part of this production! It's my baby. The film, I mean. It's been 5 years in the making! I got a SMALL but fierce role in a film that I'm shooting in January called "Carts." Just like in "Domino," I have a filthy mouth, but hey, it pays the rent, right :) I will keep you all posted on what's going on. There is also news and updates on my blog at www.allieraye.blogspot.com and www.allieraye.com. I am ready for a new website, more updated, but I don't have those skills, so bear with me with the "boring" site. Hahah. It will give you news, though. Happy New Year you all!! I am looking forward to being at the reunion in the summer. Maybe we'll be shooting at the same time. Ya never know! :) Take care and be well, Lisa (aka Allie Raye) Class of 1981 ********** From: Dave Morrow (1965) Date: Fri, 23 Dec 2005 Subject: My Fifty-Year Dream Those if you who remember me, perhaps even before Peary, might recall that I had an interest in airplanes and flying. Some season ticket holders would opt to scalp or otherwise resell the away game tickets for a profit (frowned upon in some locales, but certainly not uncommon ... to say the least.) If you're with the NSA, CIA, Homeland Security, or the White House, and you've intercepted this e-mail, I don't know any sources yet, so get your own tickets!. So, what I am hoping to find is EITHER a Redskins OR Seahawks season ticket holder willing to sell me 3 seats at FACE-VALUE, rather than inflated-for-profit tickets (call me a fair-weather-fan, or just cheap, errrr make that "frugal," if you will). *If* I died and went to heaven, I'd ideally be on the hunt for the more RARE-bird, who is looking to offload 3 tickets (already paid for in the case of a Sea-Chickens, errr, I meant Seahawks, season-ticket holder) at a DISCOUNT ... oh happy day. ;-) (call me "Lucky"). Soooo, what I'm sayin' here is if you're in the DC area (or know someone who is), don't assume that none of your season ticket holdin' pals don't have any access to AWAY game tickets ... they DO. And, if you're in Seachickens country, and know someone who simply can't make the game or otherwise use their tickets, and aren't already plannin' to give 'em away to friends or relatives, I'm lookin' to buy (at face value, (or less) of course). ;-) HEY, there is someone out there, somewhere. You know the Peary motto: "Find a Way or Make One". ;-) And, for those of you who maybe haven't figured it out yet, I'm ONLY interested in said tickets if that game is between the Washington Redskins & Seattle Seachickens January 15th (?)... so all this could be for naught depending on the outcome of THIS Saturday's game between Washington & Tampa. Only 170-miles separates me from Qwest stadium ... just a short drive ... heck, I might opt fur planes or, trains or, automobiles, or a bus, Gus! When the 'Skins beat Gruden's Bucs, I'll start walkin' north even! ;-) Thanks for readin'. Joe Gibbs For President! ;-) Hail 'Skins! Given the power and ease of Internet storefronts these days, I decided to start it up again. Go to PearyGear.com to see an initial selection of items. I picked a few T-shirt styles featuring a small "pocket" logo, like the shirts I bought for myself and my Dad (perhaps you've seen him wearing it around Aspen Hill). Other styles can be added, and shirt designs can be changed as well. I considered putting the high-school seal on the back of the T-shirts, but left them as is. Items may get little tweaks. I'm open to design changes! The store is very customer friendly and supports bulk orders with a discount. If there^Òs enough interest for reunions and other events, I may be able to whip a "limited edition" shirt. If you have an idea (magnets? buttons? Rowdy shirts? kids' sizes?), let me know; write to PearyGear@comcast.net. I will donate most of the proceeds to support the MSO site (minus a few bucks for the domain name).
