Paul Runnels (1978)

Paul Runnels, Class of 1978, is an anchor on CNN/SI, the 24-hour sports news network from CNN and Sports Illustrated. Runnels also appears on CNN and CNN International sports programming. He joined the network in 1990.

Before joining CNN, Runnels worked as a sports anchor for the ABC affiliates in Harrisonburg, Virginia, and Salisbury, Maryland. There he covered such top stories as the Redskins Super Bowl and the death of University of Maryland great Len Bias.

Runnels received a bachelor's degree in radio, television and film at the University of Maryland/Montgomery College in 1983.
