On October 1, 1997 Laura Burroughs Porter, Class of 1975, passed away. She had lung cancer. Her sister Barbara Burroughs Sale was a member of the Class of 71. Her brother, Walt, is a 1978 Peary grad who is online with us. Laura was married to Donnie Porter for 11 years.

Laura, of Gaithersburg, beloved wife of Donald W. Porter, Jr.; loving daughter of Doris and Walter Burroughs; loving sister of Barbara J. Sale (her husband, Richard) and Walter B. Burroughs, Jr. (his wife, Kati); loving granddaughter of Eleanor B. Burroughs. Also survived by three nieces, ten nephews, and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
Friends were be received at Pumphrey's Colonial Funeral Home in Rockville, on Sunday, October 5 and a Mass of Christian Burial was offered at the shrine of St. Jude Catholic Church on Monday, October 6. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 11331 Amherst Ave., Silver Spring, MD 20902 or the American Lung Association, 11720 Beltsville Dr. Beltsville, MD 20705.
