From Barbara Dentz Riley (1971) - timm@erols.com, October 12, 1997:

It is with great sadness, that I inform the friends and classmates of Danny Haynos (1971) of his death, this morning. Danny lost his fight with brain cancer and leaves his wife, Gretchen, and four children: Joanie (14), Robby (12), Katie (9), and Daniel (6). He is survived by siblings: Joe, John, Robby, Mary, Tom, Paul, and Billy. Danny's mother, Ann Haynos, is also grieving the loss of her son. Danny lost his father while we were in college. Danny was the oldest of the Haynos children. The family had moved to Potomac in 1971 after Danny graduated from Peary. We went to Frederick this afternoon to take casseroles and food trays to the family.

To have known Danny was to have loved him and he will be missed more than I can say. He was a fighter to the end; he loved life and he loved his family and friends. He had recently won an award (1997) for his efforts in religious education called the John McElroy Award. It was written up in the Frederick News Post I believe. Since he was very weak at the time, his wife Gretchen accepted it on his behalf.
