On  Wednesday 30th of July (2003).  A concert at Norden Farm Arts Centre. Brent Runnels, classical
pianist who also plays great jazz, and the Laurie Holloway trio, with Dave Olney on bass and Martin
Drew on drums. Two pianists on two concert grand pianos, playing the whole range of music for
piano. Brent Runnels is a cousin of Marion Montgomery (Runnels) Holloway.
All profits going to the Montgomery Holloway Music Trust.


Biography: Brent Runnels, Pianist

Pianist Brent Runnels is the top-award winner of the New Orleans International Piano Competition and the Jacksonville Classical Piano Competition and has performed throughout the US, Europe and Australia. His solo recitals in New York, Los Angeles, St. Louis, Chicago and New Orleans have earned enthusiastic reviews - "formidable," "fresh energy and sparkle," "colorful," and "delightfully idiomatic." He has appeared as concerto soloist with the Kosice State Philharmonic, Slovak Sinfonietta of Zilina, the Florida Orchestra in Tampa , the Orlando Philharmonic, the former Florida Symphony and the Winter Park Bach Festival. Solo appearances in his 1997-98 season include concerto performances with the Brevard Symphony Orchestra, the Gainesville Symphony and the Gwinnett Philharmonic.

Brent Runnels' frequent chamber music collaborations include performances of the complete Beethoven sonatas for piano and violin at New York's Lincoln Center. He was one of the principal artists in the world premiere of Bruno Walter's four-hand arrangement of Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 2 under conductor Gilbert Kaplan. Mr. Runnels earned the doctoral degree at Manhattan School of Music, as well as the School's highest graduate honor, the Harold Bauer Award, studying principally with Constance Keene and John Browning. He has also worked with Karl Ulrich Schnabel, Richard Goode, Jeanne-Marie Darre, and Martino Tirimo. He has taught on the faculties of Rollins College, Concordia College and the Manhattan School of Music and is currently Coordinator of Accompanying at Georgia State University. He is the Artistic Director of the LYNX Jazz Festival in Orlando and a member of the international roster of Steinway Artists.

Brent's former trio: The Inman Piano Trio consisted of Inman Park resident, Brent Runnels (1976)
on piano.  The trio took its name from the historic district of Inman Park in Atlanta.
