October 13-15, 2006 at the Marriott at the Rio in Gaithersburg, MD - DONE!
From Gale (10/19/06):
HI to the fabulous class of '66,
Wow, I haven't come down to earth yet. What a wonderful weekend it was and I
couldn't believe how
great and YOUNG everyone looked! It was truly a feeling of being home again.
Lots of Laughter and
tears and not just from ME ! I was so surprised and touched when the bag pipers
walked in Saturday
night as they told me they couldn't make it. I lost it! And the pledge and
Sheila Starks Singing the Star
Spangled Banner and the guys from the Military, policeman and firemen standing
for a long over due
applause of appreciation was awesome. I just wish you could have all been
standing on stage where I
was to see the faces of people when I looked out and saw you all. It was
extremely hard to hold it all
together. As you could see !!! So right after that when the bag pipers walked in
, I couldn't hold it
together any longer and the tears started !
I want to thank you all for the wonderful notes I've gotten and hope everyone
made it home safe and
sound. We ended up with about 150 attending ( and had 16 cancel due to different
situations) before
the reunion. . It was so good to also have Dr. Dunn, Miss Thomas , Mr. and Mrs.
Hill and Mr. Glass
join us. We had 44 people that either had never been to any of the reunions or
hadn't been since the
very early ones and they all expressed to me that their biggest regret is NOT
attending the previous
ones since they had such a wonderful time and did recognize lots more people
than they thought they
would. My heart is so totally full from all you wonderful people and all the
fun......that's why I continue
do these reunions!
Tho, the weather was too cool and we couldn't have our Friday night party
outside I was pleased with
how well it went in the salons. . The Marriott did a first class job and their
food was wonderful as I
knew it would be and all seemed to agree.
I've been on a real roller coaster with emotions during and since the reunion. I
hated to say good bye
on Saturday night and Sunday and was glad to finally get some time to sit and
talk with people at the
breakfast and at the two night owl parties. Some of us never went to bed
Saturday night .
Walter Garcia gave me a plaque that said "Don't go to a school reunion
....There'll be a lot of old
people there claiming to be your classmates " That is really funny and
appreciated but looking at you
all and seeing the pictures that people have sent me that is very far from the
truth ! We're forever
YOUNG !
I wanted to call Diane Nichols-Brace up to the stage and was really sorry I
forgot to do that to thank
her for starting these reunions originally. I get lots of credit for the
reunions since then that I've run
but if it hadn't been for her doing the 5, 10 and 15th year reunions all these
other reunions every 5 yrs
would never be taken place. So Diane ,a big thank you. See what you started
lady! And she did it long
before we had computers !! Bless her heart. She and Kenny are both such a class
act . I was so glad
they were there.
I will be mailing out the class photo's in a few weeks. Jim and I are leaving
tomorrow morning for a
much needed week of R and R to Lake Tahoe Ca. so I'll be out of touch until Oct.
28th . There are so
many notes I want to send out but time is a real factor right now so I'll catch
up when we get back.
To those that just ordered books and photo's and those that paid and couldn't
come I'll mail out the
photo's and book together as soon as I can.
I spoke to the people that did the filming for the DVD's and since I want to add
pictures that people
have sent me and need to edit them, they won't be able to send the DVD's out
until late NOVEMBER.
So you will get them plus they want to include the group class photo in the DVD
so I have to wait until I
get that also. If you have digital pictures you took over the weekend send them
to my email address
and PLEASE put peoples names under the pictures if you can. Many said they
didn't order DVD'S that
night and want to do so, so I'll add the Order form at the end of this note so
you can print it out and
mail it to them. THEY DO NOT TAKE CREDIT CARDS so you'll just have to send them
a check and
make sure you include it's for the Peary reunion Oct. 13-15th. They also told me
if any one wants
Video's from the 30th or 35th reunion that they will send you one of those also
for $25.00. If you
haven't seen their work before it's fantastic and you can relive the weekend.
Also for those that
couldn't attend to see what they missed! ;-) They would appreciate all orders to
be made asap for
the current DVD's.
If you found any misprints in the reunion books--your email address , home
address , etc. please let me
know so we can correct it for our records now. I also wanted again to thank Beth
for editing and
printing the books and all her help over the weekend, Also Larry and Missie
Rubin, for their help and
Mike Leffler for all his much needed help and over seeing everything while I was
at the Prayer
meeting in our suite. Thanks to Ronnie Footer for co-signing the checking
account and all those that
helped at the tables and throughout the weekend. Debbie Burkhead did a wonderful
job in selling the
50/50 tickets which was a good pot that totaled $414.00 ~~ Go Debbie !
Dayle Duffy and her husband Michael , (Michael was the one that entertained us
Friday night singing
and playing his guitar,) , and Larry and Missie Rubin won the free night hotel
stay with breakfast
included and Sherry Burkett won the 50/50 drawing which was $207.00 and the
other matched half of
$207.00 I'll be sending to the Peary web site for the terrific job Bob Lau does.
The web site is
www.pearyhs.org We will also post some pictures from the weekend on the Peary
web site as soon
as I can.
Bill Schmidt and Kenny Brace went to visit Coach Bill Williams and gave him the
two baseballs from
the class of '64 and '66 which they purchased along with Larry Mischou and I
understand that Mr.
Williams was very appreciative and was excited to see them again. (The guys and
the baseballs)
We'll also have some of the guys playing golf on the DVD, I understand they had
a great time. BTW
after my spouse Jimmy Privette saw pictures of himself from the reunion He got
his hair cut. For some
reason he decided to try and grow a pony tail (don't ask??? ) which didn't work
out and after some of
his girl friends from the class were honest with him and told him it looked
bad.....he got it cut. He plans
on mailing some of his locks to Janice Welsh and Donna Herbert to prove he did
get it cut. Thanks
Ladies...wish you had told him earlier as I tried to encourage him to cut it and
now he's really sorry
he didn't let Donna Herbert cut it for him before the reunion. LOL ....... MEN
!!!!
Carole Hess came the furthest ! She lives in Germany and it was so great seeing
her. She looks like
she stepped out of our Senior Year Book !! I could write someone about each and
everyone of you.
What a fantastic looking and loving class we have. We're so very blessed !
And I hope IF THERE IS A 60th Birthday Party in 2 yrs...(I know I've lost my
head) or another
reunion where ever we end up living that you'll attend and those that couldn't
make this one will
make the next one ! If there is a next ONE !
Don't forget the DVD form at the bottom.
Love , hugs and may you all be Blessed and well until we meet again.

We need your help in locating some of our Misplaced Classmates
Please help in any way that you can in finding some of our long lost classmates. Some of these people we haven’t had any information on since they received their diploma. So if you have any leads OR better still can track them down and pass over to me their names, addresses, phone numbers or email address it would be a tremendous help. I ‘m so pleased with a lot of help from some of you that we have gotten this list down to only 38 names after all these years. But we’d still like to get in contact with the rest of our friends. Please send any information to me by mail, phone - 301-840-5787 or email me at Gale7@juno.com Thanks. CLICK HERE for the Missing Persons List
